“Fun vacation for all” Thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Nena's Nook. House lovely (only complaint some dishes and baking pans were put away still dirty), location perfect, lots of activities. Kids ages 13 thru 23 all loved it. The keyless entry/ no check in/out feature was sooo convenient.

The Outer Bank Blues receptionists were polite and attentive to all our needs...enjoyed the ability to key in upon arrival :) The home was clean and well maintained interiorly...the pool and jacuzzi were a welcomed activity throughout the day and evening! As first timers to the Outer Banks...it was an excellent experience!

“Perfect for us!” We loved this house!! There were only 3 of us, myself, my husband and our 2 year old son. The house had everything we needed and was very well-kept, as well as cozy. Felt like home. Walk to the beach was a breeze with the cart to help us out. Loved sitting out on the deck and seeing the views of the sound. I don't have anything bad to say about this home at all. Will absolutely be renting this house again in the future.

“Everything we needed and wanted and more!” Picking out a house for three couples and four children was tough. Everyone had different wants and needs for the home. We found this place on the Outer Banks Blue website and it had everything we needed to satisfy everyone! This house met all our expectations and then some. We we very pleased at the size of the home and the location to the beach, especially with 4 little ones! It was perfect for what we needed! And we will definitely rent this home again!

“First time at the Beach” Easy Livin is a nice house. Needs a little TLC, but worked well for our vacation. Speically for the price. Three floors will work your legs (strech out before running up and down the stairs all day). The only real issues we had was the wash machine was broken (my son and granddaughter left a day early due to this) and the one sliding glass door didn't lock, which we didn't know until we were leaving.

“Outer Banks is the place to be!” This is an older home in the quiet Sanderling community of Duck, NC. The location doesn't get any better -- boarded walk to the beach, great decking for watching sunrises and sunsets, and a nearly private beach. You have easy access to the running, walking path along Route 12 but since you're back in the neighborhood you have no traffic noise. The home is sturdy, open, well-furnished, and has everything you need for a week at the beach. We loved the family room on the upper level with plenty of windows, comfy seating, a large table for dinners, and an island for more casual breakfasts and snacks. There are plenty of games, puzzles, books, and movies that are great for rainy days. It suited our purposes just fine. The only criticisms are: the house was extremely dusty -- we didn't dare turn on the fans for fear the inch of dust coating them would be all over the place if we did; the bathrooms are somewhat dark; the shed light was burned out and the shed was such a mess we didn't even bother to try to get any of the bikes out to use -- couldn't find a pump anyway. We had a very large mouse running around the loft. From the size of him he's been there quite sometime enjoying some good food. As he was too big for a regular mouse trap (we tried to catch him) we told the folks at Outer Banks Blue about him. Hopefully they have ousted the critter. We did mention the dust problem to the Outer Banks Blue guy that showed up the day we checked in. He said he would have to put a service order in but that didn't happen while we were there. We had an issue with the grill and someone came out and took care of it right away. Overall, we were very happy with the experience. We know this is an older house and we're fine with that but the cleaning crew needs to do a better job.

“We loved everything about this house” Our family of 18 people loved this house. It was big and never felt crowded. The kitchen was awesome. The fact that every room had its own bathroom was so great. The walk to the beach was only a few minutes away. The pool and hot tub was clean and refreshing. We will return to good day sunshine again!

“Great location, nice amenities, clean, and well-stocked.” Nice home with nice amenities and clean, modern furniture and appliances. I greatly appreciated the tile floors and generally clean downstairs carpet in the bedrooms, especially for a home that allows pets. The home's layout was nice with spacious great room, reading area, large dining space, well stock and great sized kitchen, and ocean and sound views from the deck. The double master bedrooms is a great feature, too. The dual zone aC worked great even on some pretty hot days. There were several minor maintenance issues - broken storm doors, broken hammock swing, lots of vines and weeds on walking path and some of them had thorns. Several burned out light bulbs (just an fyi, not really an issue) and one of the vanity light fixtures was very loose. All in all, it's a great home, super location, and attractively priced... Hope to visit again. Thanks for allowing responsible pet owners and keeping your home in very good condition for those to share on their vacations.

“Lovely southern home with all amenities” This is the second time I have stayed at Saltaire and is the first time with my husband and son. What a terrific time it was. This place is just incredible. From the private pool and hot tub to a massive "man cave" complete with pool table, foosball, darts and more. My husband turned into a kid again playing with my son into the wee hours of the morning. Above all else, because Saltaire is pet-friendly, we were able to take our two Porties with us who made those long walks on the beach the absolute best. I can't recommend Saltaire enough if you are looking for an exquisite place to "call home" while on vacation in the Outer Banks!

“We had an excellent vacation in a beautiful home.” Sea Glass is an absolutely beautiful house. Our family of four shared the house with our friends, a family of three and we had tons of space! The house was spotless upon arrival, had everything we needed. The pictures online are extremely accurate. The pool area is really nice, and the gate around the entire area made us feel very comfortable having 3 small children with us. We loved that it is a carpet free house too, so that it was very easy to clean water and sand. The house is one blocks from the beach, and a 3 minute drive into town, on a very nice block. There is no need to bring any pool toys, beach toys, beach chairs or bikes- they are all provided for you. The only "negative" about the house is that the kitchen is located on the top floor (3 flights of stairs) which makes it a little difficult when you are hanging out by the pool and the kids want something to drink or eat. We would have to get the kids out of the pool, outside of the gated area, and then treck up 3 flights of stairs to the kitchen. I would suggest to the owners that they put a small fridge and counter on the main floor just to keep some snacks and drinks for these situations. However, this is my only suggestion on how to make this house any better. It truly is beautiful, and we will definitely be booking it again on our next vacation to Duck.

“Our family had a wonderful time at Ivey's Lair” We had eigt adults and eight children from 3 months to eighteen years old. There was never a boring moment and everyone had plenty of room in the house. Whad a week that was in the high 90s, but we loved every minute of it. The 4th of July parade went right by the house, fireworks went off on the beach that were pretty prfessional for the area's private viewing and everyone did as they pleased during the day ( pool, beach, town, pool table, volleyball, or just relaxed) and we all had dinner together or went out. When we go to the house there were a few minor things that had to be taken care of: the gas grill was not there, the outside pool lights were not working, and some inside lights did not work. We called and everything was taken care within two days. The only thing that needs to be address are the two dishwashers. They do not clean the dishes. We wound up doing them by hand. I am not sure if the water is not hot enough for the machines or what. We did not report it, but they now know and I am sure it will be fixed. We can't wait to go back!!!

About Duck

Known for its relative solitude, beautiful architecture, and clean, natural beaches, Duck is consistently ranked as one of the United States' most welcoming vacation spots for families with young children. Located in the Outer Banks area of North Carolina, the laid back, quiet, historic village of Duck lies on a strip of land between the Atlantic Ocean and Currituck Sound. Some of the most popular local attractions here are notably family friendly, like the North Carolina Aquarium and the Adventure Museum at Festival Park. But there's plenty for adults as well, especially history enthusiasts, lovers of nature, and those who enjoy a busy, beachy nightlife - not to mention world-class seafood restaurants.

Here are a few suggestions of things to do in Duck:

  • Go kayaking: Few things are more beautiful than the serene waters of the Outer Banks at sunrise. If you don't own a kayak or canoe, it's easy to rent one.
  • Tour the lighthouses: There are several famous lighthouses around the Outer Banks, including the ones at Currituck Beach, Bodie Island, and Hatteras.
  • Learn about history: Two excellent places to start are the Fort Raleigh Historic Site and the North Carolina Maritime Museum. Understanding the maritime history of the sound provides a deeper appreciation of its architecture, culture, and traditions.
  • Explore the natural beauty of Duck: Don't miss the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge for a chance to view some elusive species of shore birds.
  • Visit Duck's Cottage: This quaint and locally famous bookstore and coffee shop is a great place to spend a few quiet hours and soak up the regional atmosphere.
  • The Wright Brothers Memorial: Visit this memorial dedicated to the famous brothers and their experiences at Kitty Hawk.

No matter how long you decide to stay or what time of year you decide to visit, it's easy to find a condo, apartment, or summer home in Duck that is available by the day, week, or even month.

Odd house, but we had fun

If we had taken another couple to fill the 4th bedroom the bathroom setup would have been difficult. Not to mention you had to go outside and in on the first floor to use the third bathroom. We had fun and our adult children enjoyed the pool every night. … see more
