      Desert paradise

Left on 10/05/2012 for a stay in September 2012

My husband, kitty, and I had the joy of staying in amelia this September. Our only regret... not having enough time for an extended visit.

We couldn't believe our eyes when we first saw the landscape surrounding the adorable airstream. It was honest to goodness "heaven on earth." We started our afternoon with a hike and as we looked out from a hilltop at the gorgeous desert we saw a tiny little dot that was amelia, and we glanced at each other with huge grins and happy tears stinging our eyes over our great fortune. Who gets to live like this???

Pat Frazier, that's who. And it's, all, so well deserved. Pat is an artist and a builder and she has accomplished a lot over her many years in abiquiu. She is a warm and friendly (pet friendly, too) being, and we were completely at ease chatting her up about her beautiful properties and life in abiquiu. While she resides nearby, the land is vast and she is respectful of privacy; and with amelia tucked neatly on the other side of a hill you feel as though you have the entire desert to yourself - and pretty much do!

Be forewarned, the evening skies will take your breath away, and the sounds of howling coyotes, far in the distance, will provide that extra sense of magic that New Mexico is famous for. Turn the outside party lights on, and amelia sparkles with mischief, making it impossible to resist a pinch of yourself to confirm it's all real!

Yes, it was much too exciting to compete with normal life, so we laughed throughout the night and enjoyed every second of our brief, but amazeballs, time at amelia. She is equipped with everything you need for coziness and survival; a stove to cook upon, a fridge to chill things, a pull-out futon for sleeping, and there's even a small bathroom, with a line for light showering and a tub, so you can clean yourself up. We look forward to returning again next year and spending a much longer siesta with the cutest little airstream in the world!

      ABSOLUTELY AWESOME!

Left on 09/25/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We are couple who headed up the Abiquiu for a short weekend getaway from Santa Fe. Wasnt sure what to expect with the Airstream, but we were completely overjoyed upon arrival! Pat, the property owner, greeted us warmly, gave us the key, and let us head on over the private Airstream to enjoy a weekend of privacy, amazing views, and her shabby-chic appointed vintage Airstream! All I can say is that it was more than we expected, as far as comfort, cleanliness, renovated feel, and of course the amazing views and total privacy. It was truly an adorable and peaceful setup. There was even a wi-fi signal...not that you would need or want one there, but it was something we did end up using for streaming music while we cooked on the grill and watched the sunset. Overall, this was a FABULOUS rental, and I would recommend to anyone who has interest in a non-traditional vacation rental. If you are seeking a place for relaxation, recharge, inspiration, privacy, and total "cuteness" of a well-renovated Airstream, you will not be disappointed. We will DEFINITELY return. Thank you Pat!
ps. This owner also has two other properties for rent in the same area, for those needing more space or for a group of folks travelling together, etc. I have not seen them personally, but based on what I experienced in Amelia, I would bet they too are quite special and worth a look at!

      Perfect Hideaway

Left on 01/12/2012 for a stay in July 2011

I stayed in "Amelia", waiting for my new home to be finished and it was perfect. The bed was comfortable, the stove and fridge worked well, kitchen was well stocked with a toaster, pots and pans etc. The table outside amelia the airstream is great for eating outside and the views can't be beat. At night the stars are amazing, the Milky Way is overhead and one can watch the satellites move across the night sky. Lots of places to walk, the hills behind go on forever. What I liked best was the quiet, the beauty of the land and the close proximity to Plaza Blanca, Abiquiu village, the lake and Ghost Ranch.
