The best kept secret on aitutaki

Left on 03/17/2013 for a stay in February 2013

The location is perfect. White sandy beach for swimming. Melonie is priceless, she would do anything for you. We stayed in absolute beachfront villa it was perfect. We even had a house cat to look after. If you want privacy white sandy beaches and owners that go out of their way to make sure you have everything you need, this is the place to stay. Aitutaki was everything we thought and more. We will definitely go back. Thank you John, Tini and Melonie for making us feel so welcome.

Great place to stay, lovely setting, friendly hosts

Left on 03/11/2013 for a stay in February 2013

Unfortunately we only had a few nights staying at this lovely location. We were met at the airport and given a short tour of the island and then taken to the store to buy provisions before being taken back to the Beach Villas. They were clean, neat and tidy and provided everything we needed to cook for ourselves. Fantastic views from the front balcony with lush mountains behind. Great lagoon to spend time in the water and great to have use of a kayak and scooter for the duration of our stay. A very relaxing time and the hostess was very friendly and helpful and could not do enough for you. A fishing tour and lagoon tour was organised for us and this was great. Especially the lagoon tour when we got to snorkle with a GT called "George" . This was a great place to stay and we will be coming back again sometime in the future. Excellent.

      you have no idea

Left on 02/02/2013 for a stay in December 2012

Walking down the beach i had been asked by a couple where I was staying, not remembering the name pointing"See the only clear setion of beach with no washed up coral or rocks?" was the responce, that is what this place offers.
Both larger and more expencive resorts on either side(a bit down the way, both ways) didn't even come close to the clean beach front offered here.
The family every morning is out cleaning off the washed up coral & rocks. and servicing bunglaows/rooms.They were very friendly and helpful for everything to the point ,on the day I arrived Christmas Eve,forgeting a electric adapter and getting local currency John drove me around the island for around an hour till both had been obtained!!! . Not to many places would help to this extent I think. The rooms were well kept with Excelent shower water pressure not the low pressure experinced in previous travels.
Would I go back again...Yes... though not alone.
Stayed for full two weeks and wondered if it was too long till on the plane back to rartonga two couples started talking very loud and then relised...nope didn't stay long enough.
The view from this place is with out exageration "Beautiful !!!"
And yes the calico cat did drop in for a vist, like the rest of the locals, very well mannered!

      You can't help but relax!

Left on 07/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012

My partner and I stayed in an absolute beachfront villa at this mini resort back in March and I'm still daydreaming about the fantastic location. The lagoon in front of the cabins has the best "off the beach" snorkelling on the island and faces the setting sun to amazing effect every evening. A G&T; in one hand and a camera in the other at sunset was a holiday highlight. And with only 4 villas on site, it is nice and intimate. Our's was comfortable for 2 people, although there's a small mezzanine with a couple of single beds that would accommodate kids. There's a share BBQ, which was on someone else's deck during our stay, but this could be rectified by putting a small one on the deck of each villa. Kayaks and scooters are available for the use of guests and there's snorkelling gear on each deck. The owner's sister visits daily and is more than happy to book tours for you and crack a coconut or two. She was generous enough to take pity on my non-existent scooter skills and give me a lesson in the local football field!
There's no public phone on site, so having a mobile phone comes in handy. And access to laundry facilities (not necessarily on site) would be a plus too, especially for longer stays. But there's no point in angsting about anything on this beautiful island. You definitely get more out of your island experience by adopting "island time".

Best beach and Villa on the island

Left on 12/23/2011 for a stay in November 2011

We looked carefully and emailed quite a few villa owners. We were staying for 5 weeks and wanted no mistakes. As it turned out, we chose even better than we thought.
John Tini is the owner and lives in Roratonga. His sister, Paka, now manages the 4 villas having taken over from her father and mother John & Mary Tini.
What a slice of paradise! Our villa was 16' X 24', more than enough. The deck is full along the front under which are two kayaks for you to use. We had included in the rental a nice scooter for half the time and rented it the full time. The Lagoon is 30 paces down a white sand beach where there are numerous coral heads to snorkel around or, as we did, simply walk up to them and feed the fish bread, left over tuna, etc. After a few days they came racing to greet us. This villa had the washer and the phone the others didn't. Paka was there nearly every day, greeting new arrivals and saying goodby to those who were leaving. We got to know her and her son Dean fairly well, participating in several fund raisers for his World Opti Sailing Competition in Napier, New Zealand the first of January. We did a couple of lagoon cruises that were very good, well worth the time and take your passport to One Foot Island to get stamped. No big stores, no familiar restaurants, no cheap water but tons of fun. We had the gamut of weather. Torrential rains, bright sun shine, windy, cloudy and humid with only 1 day with heat too much. Take your time, enjoy the island and the people. See all the churches and go to the soccer, rugby, cricket, net ball games. Fun! Paka became a good friend and it was hard to go. Luckily she was headed to Roratonga the same day we left, she and Dean on their way to the competition. We chatted at the airport in Raro before we left. There is a once a week flight from lax to Rarotonga on air New Zealand.
Don't hesitate about this accommodation. Bring plenty of mosquito (mozzie) repellent and favorite snacks.

      Hi Denise,

Kia orana and thank you for the positive review and we will always look forward to your return. Paka and Dean is still making their way back from the World Opti Sailing in Napier, NZ. Appreciate your advise on the accommodation, LAX flight connection, mosquito repellent and favourite snacks. We locals are use to the mozzies and stick to basics so visitors yes it is a must to bring along things like mosquito repellents, sunblock lotions, light beach clothing, shades, favourite shampoo, beach-caps, favourite snacks etc. We have good snorkelling area and fish feeding so do bring along your snorkelling gears as well to avoid all the fuss.

Best wishes for the new year.

      King regards

      Beautiful again!

Left on 11/14/2011 for a stay in November 2011

Our return visit to aitutaki Beach Villas for 2 weeks was better than the first (2009). We were in Villa 2 again and we could find no complaint with it again.

Paka and John were fantastic hosts. Nothing was a problem for them (yummy chicken and pork). In fact, get to know Paka and John, they are both have a wealth of knowledge. Paka is the manager, and John is the “handyman”. (Show me the rake!!). There sense of humour is fantastic.

The beach out the front was still very clean, after the Canadians from our last visit 2 years ago cleaned a lot of coral off the sand.

Snorkelling out the front was again superb, in fact my partner says it is better than at the end of the runway. The further you go out the better it gets!

There is a BBQ that can be used, which we used most days for breakfast and dinner

We can not wait to go back, and this time it will be for longer

      Awesome aitutaki Beach Villas

Left on 11/01/2011 for a stay in October 2011

During October 2011 my husband, 2 year old son and I stayed at aitutaki Beach Villas near amuri for 7 days. We were warmly welcomed by Paka our host, who visited us each morning to see if we needed anything. She was absolutely lovely and she felt like part of the family. The villa we stayed in was spotless, with a very comfortable king size bed and the villa had all the things we needed in the kitchen. The bathroom was very clean too. It was great having our own kitchen to make lunches and dinner, so we didn't have to rely on eating out all the time. We found out, while there, that we were staying at the best location, with one of the nicest beaches, easy access to food and fabulous snorkeling. We were only a short walk away from food and the shops were only 15 minutes walk away from us as well. If you hired a scooter it would only take you 1-2 mins. We hired a car for the day and got to visit the other side of the island and Ootu beach, which reinforced our good decision of choosing aitutaki Beach Villas. We found out that beaches weren't as nice by other accommodation along the west coast and some people even came to our beach for a swim. Paka kindly organised a couple of boat cruises for us with aitutaki adventures, which were recommended by her and others we had met in Rarotonga. They were fantastic, as we went on 2 wonderful 5-6 hour cruises with Captain Puna, and they also provided the most amazing lunch. I would not hesitate to recommend aitutaki Beach Villas to anyone wanting quality accommodation in the best location on aitutaki.

New and happy experience for our family

Left on 10/16/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We hadn't been to aitutaki before and had a wonderful time at this place, helped by the fact that there were other young kids for our 10 year old to play with. It was safe, beautiful and peaceful and we found Paka and her Dad to be such lovely hosts. We had a couple of items that needed sorting out and that was done promptly and with a friendly attitude. We would definitely like to return.
Thanks John & Siu for the stay and please don't listen to any Swiss or German tourists who want you to put deckchairs on the beach! The sand is just lovely, thanks and it looks so unspoilt how it is. Loved the feeling of being in a tropical fishtank just steps away from the bungalow and enjoyed sundowners on the beach and dinners on our deck. To get really amazing water and fishlife a lagoon cruise is a must - it is classic castaway island territory- breathtaking.

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in May 2011

We stayed 6 days in aituaki beach villa in May 2011. It was wunderfull, we had a beach bungalow, not luxus but quiet good with very nice terrasse. Our son was always on the beach , snorkelling, playing with the cat, running behind the chicken, we read or we swamm, we spend lot of time on the beach, or we spoke about the polynesian life with Paka who is a very funny woman. She welcomed us very friendly and warm, she took our son with her to see a rugby game, she had always a goog mood.
Only missing point : there arent deckchairs on the beach.

It is a amazing spot, right on the beach, coral fish 60 metres form your bed. Amazing area and it is like you are the only people on the whole beach. We were picked up from the airport, treated like royalty. Paka and her family arranged what was surposed to be a simple wedding for us.What we actually recieved was unbelievable. So much time and effort was spent on us.Words can not describe the dream wedding or aitutaki beach villas.
We cooked our own meals and lived in paradise for 8 nights. We had excellent service , being left to enjoy paradise ,it felt like the beach was our home.
Aitutaki is the best spot in the world, the nicest people, stunning scenery.

Paradise found, total relaxation and sunsets to die for.

Left on 06/26/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We have just returned from our first visit to the Cook Islands and it won't be our last. We loved aitutaki for its unspoiled beauty and laid back ambience. We stayed at aretai Beach Villas for 4 nights,(not long enough),which was the perfect place for us to chill out and enjoy the beachside position. We loved our hostess and her gentle way of making us feel welcome. The paw paw and bananas from her plantation were the best I've tasted. The Villa couldn't have been more beachfront with graceful coconut palms framing the view of the lagoon and the sunset. The Villa is spacious and the deck is just the place for sundowner cocktails or you can lie on a sunlounger on the beach at the bottom of your steps. The family has done a great job of getting the right mix, of tropical and relaxation, with the design of the property, giving it that holiday feeling.
We enjoyed the 'Vaka Cruise' on the lagoon especially the 2 hosts and the barbcue.
I can seriously say the swim in the aitutaki lagoon was one of the best I've had and I've had a few! Island night at the 'Pacific Resort' was great as was the dinner there.
