Left on 08/04/2011 for a stay in July 2011
I celebrated my 40th birthday with three friends at this property in July 2011 and our stay was lovely.
Mr. & Mrs. Hernandez (the owners) met us on time to check in and show us around. Their English is very limited, though they are fluent in French and Spanish.
The pictures don't do the house or the property justice. It's huge, bursting with character, located in a very quiet neighborhood yet very close to town. The bedrooms are all a nice size, each with different amenities (terrace, slanted beamed ceilings) that make them special. The views are lovely, the terrace off the kitchen is a great place to enjoy a meal, the pool is large and the outdoor kitchen and bathroom were great to have. We had initially planned to do all sorts of day-trips but in the end were so content at the house that we did little more than go to the markets for food and wine and come back to the house. We were very comfortable here and I can imagine a group or a family would really enjoy it too.
My only complaint is that the bed linens and towels should have been better. You know how we all have the mis-matched towells, the tacky ones you picked up at Disneyland, the ugly floral sheets your grandmother gave you and you shoved in the back of your linen closet -- that's what they give you. They are very clean, but they are not the crisp white hotel sheets and towells you would maybe expect.
Also, the kitchen, while super cozy and equipped with just about everything you would need to cook (which we did a lot of) had the leftover feel as well, as if they took the good wine opener and left us with the really difficult to use one. And they did not leave a single condiment (butter, mustard, salt, olive oil, we had to buy everything).
But to us, those were really small things in the big picture. I'm a jaded Manhattan gal and I would stay there again and recommend it.
