An excellent cottage on the Whale Fjord. Overlooks ice capped mountains and the fjord. A great place to relax. You can easily spend a lazy days around the cottage, soaking up the view or get out and about.
Around 15 mins from the akranes tunnel. All amenities to cook/ BBQ or great food at the Hotel Glymer (not cheap). A short drive away, over in Borganes, there is a great, new family run restaurant serving lovely, reasonably priced food.
Lots of walking to be had along the beach. Watch out for eagles, seals and hundreds of birds. Short drive to the bottom of the trail to the Glymer Foss.
Would definitely return, couldn't recommend it highly enough. Hot tub was great to spend an evening with a glass of wine. Made our trip to Iceland complete.

Brynja & Thorvaldur are so nice host knowing how to make you feel like home. The cottage offers enough space for couples or families and offers a breathtaking panorama on hvalfjordur. The hot pot was so relaxing for us three. Perfect place for trips to snaefellsness, golden circle and reykjavik. We´ll never forget these wonderful holidays.
Thank you Brynja & Thorvaldur -

We have just returned from an amazing long weekend in Iceland and feel so lucky to have stayed in Kalastadir. A very warm and friendly welcome was lovely and we felt very much at home in the cottage. What an amazing view to wake up to every morning and perfectly located to drive to Gulfoss, Thingvellir, Geysir and Blue Lagoon. We could not have chosen a better place to stay and we are both sure we will visit Iceland and stay here again. As the previous reviewer says, it has everything you could need. For us, this made our trip absolutely perfect.

Review: These beautifully decorated spotless cottages are nestled just down the hill from the highway and overlook the picturesque fjord. This idyllic setting comes complete with seals basking in the sun just down by the waters edge!! The owners Brynja and Thorvaldur make you feel so welcome and make sure your stay at their cottages is most enjoyable!! The cottages besides being spotless and very comfy, come complete with everything you will need for your stay except you food of course. Your home away from home!!! Another great feature of these cottage is their location. Centrally located, we used the cottages as our home base and took day trips to all the must sees in the area. We would leave after breakfast in the morning and arrive back in the evening and relax in the hut tub on our deck and enjoy the beautiful scenery!!! Our little piece of heaven!!!
