This was the perfect place for our family vacation. The 4-bedroom house in South akumal is spacious and right on the beach. For warm days, there is air conditioning in every room. The house staff was friendly and helpful, able to buy groceries and prepare meals, allowing us to enjoy our vacation without needing to travel or rent a car. The ocean reef in the bay makes for perfect snorkeling. We saw an eagle ray, sting rays, baracuda, lobster, and countless fish. This is a quiet and secure neighborhood. If you're looking for a party environment, then don't bother coming to beautiful South akumal. If you need to go into the town of akumal, it's a 30 minute walk on the beach or you can arrange for a taxi. We loved it here and can't wait to return.

Everything at Casa de las Conchas was amazing. Akumal is now my favorite place to vacation. The beach was beautiful, the house has everything and akumal is a wonderful little village. I would highly recommend the fruit stand on Wednesday morning. Turtle Bay resturant was a great place to eat. The ruins at Coba were excellent. The ruins at Tulum were good but there were tons of people. The best part of Tulum was the snorkeling we did. It was fun to read the journals in the house and we were able to select what we wanted to do based on what others had written. I can not wait to return!

We stayed at Las Conchas during april vacation, and are still dreaming of our time there. Our group consisted of two families together with children ranging in age from 10 to18. Plenty of room for all, and the pictures just don't do it justice. Some of the best things were, a/c in the bedrooms, well equipped kitchen, outdoor spaces, hermit crabs. Loved getting up in the morning and sitting outside with a cup of coffee, soaking in the views.
The beach bright out front was beautiful and had great snorkeling and beach combing (although a little rocky so wear water shoes). the pool was just the right size and so refreshing after a busy day of exploring. We also really enjoyed walking the 25 minutes along the beach into Turtle Bay, where we ate at Lol Ha and swam with sea turtles. There really is so much to do in the area (we had some great day trips to Xel-Ha, Yal Koo lagoon, and the Jungle Place), and we always felt very safe. Miguel was our driver for a few of our trips, and he was such a pleasure to work with. We really enjoyed every day of our time at Las Conchas and were sad to leave.
In regards to the staff, what a lovely group of people caring for such a special place. Guille was so good about checking in on us and making sure we had everything we needed, and we really enjoyed chatting with her when she visited (she has so much knowledge of the area). Chayo and Felix do a wonderful job keeping the home spotless and we hardly knew they were there. Hilario was always there before anyone woke up to make sure the grounds and pool were clean and ready for our days of fun, he does such a great job. In addition to Chayo's cleaning skills, she is also an excellent chef. We had her cook dinner for us and it was so good we wish we had done that more.
The only thing we liked least was probably the grocery shopping. We would recommend doing the grocery delivery on line. Also, the grill is charcoal not gas, so just plan accordingly. C

We stayed at Casa de las Conchas for one week in March. We loved every day of the stay. The house was excellent. Very clean and comfortable. The private pool and beach area were wonderful. Chayo and Felix kept everything clean. Hilario did a great job keeping the outside area and pool clean. One thing that I really appreciated was the manager, Guille, asking us what time we would like the cleaners to work to ensure our privacy. We gave them the hours that would be best for us and they stuck to this. Very nice.
The walks up and down the beach were great. The snorkeling was great. My 12 year old son and I loved walking to akumal Beach to Lol Ha for a snack and back. It is about a 30 to 40 minute walk or so, but just great.
We loved the roof top deck. Several meals, games and drinks were enjoyed up there.
I felt very safe in this area with my wife,10 year old daughter and 12 year old son.
Make sure to go to La Buena Vida Bar/Restaurant for a nice atmosphere.
We can not wait to come back!

We just returned from a week at Casa de las Conchas and could not be more pleased with the experience. The property was just fantastic and exactly as described with great snorkeling right off the beach. We had turtle nests just a few feet from the property.
The service provided by the staff was exceptional and the dinners were top notch. We would definitely recommend this property and hope to return again some day.Response from Akumal Direct Reservations - 10/20/2011

What a delightful place to stay!
We kayak'd everyday, swam in the pool and ocean, went hermit crab hunting at night, saw turtles lay their eggs, enjoyed breakfast, & coffee every morning and had delicious meals prepared when requested! A true relaxed vacation! -

We loved the house, the manager, housekeeper and grounds staff. Pool was fabulous and beach chairs and outdoor furniture were great to use. furnishings were very comfortable and the kitchen is very well stocked with most appliances. It might be time to get some new sharp knives!
Great to have DVD and VCR and also lots of books - thanks!
This location is also so close to some great places to visit.
The massages were perfect!!
The house is very warm at night especially given no screen door on the front door so it can't stay open to allow a through draft because of the mosquitoes. Also putting the kyaks in full working order would be good.
