We truly enjoyed the stay at the Yook Caanal #1.
The place is very clean and well maintained with the daily housekeeping services by nice, local people. (so please remember to tip them generously :) )
This property is about 20 minutes by walk from the centre of akumal beach area. You can rent a golf cart or a bike to get around, but we had rented a car from the CUN airport so we just drove our car whenever we needed things in a hurry... but it is nice to take 'time' to enjoy the slow pace of akumal... you are on vacation!
walking out right onto a sandy beach is wonderful.
There are a lot of corals in the water, so you'd need a water shoes to go swim in the ocean.
There are amazing amount of sealife in the water... and water is crystal clear. Halfmoon Bay is so much more quieter than akumal Bay, and feel more private and relaxing.
We've found the water pressure of shower is weak due to gravity plumbing system, and hot water temperature gets lower during the peak time (morning shower time & evenings) but it was alright.
We loved everything about this property.
I am sure you would as well!

We love #5 at Yool Caanal. We have been staying there since the early 2000s. Nothing beats the view!
However, there are 2 things that sort of rub us the wrong way when ever we stay there (obviously not enough to go somewhere else) and we think we should probably mention them so there's a chance they'll get remedied.
#1 The furniture and the lighting in the living room needs to be updated. The couches are so uncomfortable and the lighting for reading is pretty poor.
#2. Water pressure/hot water is inconsistent. We thought for years...It's just Mexico, live with it, but after staying in unit 2
this year, we realize that warm water and pressure can be had.

Thank you for your very helpful comments. Your suggestions are being addressed today, 4/23/12. As far as the water pressure is concerned: we have gravity flow in Yool Caanal and the top unit has the least pressure. So unfortunately this is an inconvenience that cannot be remedied. New fabric has been purchased for the living room couches and new foam to make the cushions firmer. No problem getting reading lights. The new lights will be placed in the condo soon. All updates are typically done in off season from May to Fall after high occupancy rate in winter. Thank you for your continued business. We stayed in a beach front condo and it was wonderful. the property is well taken cARE of and the people working on the grounds all the time let u know u were not alone....since we had the downstairs pretty much to ourselves. we enjoy the quiet and peacefulness of the location and the reef is very close. Our condo was furnished...above board...and there was a great Book Collection. loved it g. simi

This is our third time staying in Yool Caanal, and we think it's the best spot in Half Moon Bay. The water is so close to the building that you feel like you are in it all the time. It's also the closest entry to the phenomenal snorkeling. The manager and staff are also wonderful!

We loved it at Yool Caanal #1. Besides the lovely beach level location and amazing views, the unit itself is furnished very comfortably. The kitchen has lots of extras (like a pizza cutter and a juicer). But the best part was the staff. William and Eus at the property management company are wonderful--extremely helpful, professional and friendly. The cleaning staff was also wonderful. This place is amazing!

We have been to Akumal several times, and hope to return. It is so beautiful and relaxing. The restuarants are wonderful. The people there are friendly and helpful. Have used Akumal Direct for some of our stays, and will use them again.

We really liked the art and decor and how everything coordinated. The maid service was excellent, she checked every day to make sure we had plenty of fresh potable water. We liked how close to the water the property was.

We were looking for a condo near akumal that offered privacy. We were looking for a condo in akumal that offered privacy and was at some distance from the crowded center section of half moon bay. Yool Caanal #1 was perfect. Very roomy, right on the beach, new utensils in the kitchen. The beach is very good. Akumal bay is a 20min walk and has restaurants, dive shop, stores and wonderful snorkling. We are planning on returning to Yool Caanal. One more thing: Everyone at Akumal Direct Reservations is excellent and I trusted their advice completely. They know the area and give straight answers. Thank you for a perfect vacation.

Location! Location! Location! Right on half moon bay and around the corner from the Yal-Ku Lagoon where there is still very good snorkeling. The only disappointing feature was transportation from the condo to Akumal - its a long walk. If they had bicycles, it would be great - perhaps a bicycle built for two! We will be back.
