Loved staying at Case Konomi and hope to return again. We were traveling with 2 couples and one teen, 5 people total and stayed for 7 nights. We loved everything about the house. Being able to cook some of our own meals and then having Maria cook dinner for us one night (best food we had the whole trip). It was also great hanging out by the pool or sitting under the palapa at night. You can tell how much care/thought is put into the upkeep of the entire property - everything was in perfect order during our entire stay. It was also fun being able to take the golf carts or bikes into the town. I really couldn't find anything negative to say about our trip, loved every minute of it.

We stayed here in april and loved it. You do need a car to get around and see other sites but the lagoon is a couple of blocks away and there are some really good restaurants. The beds are extremely comfortable, all windows and doors have screens. There is aC. A fully outfitted fabulous kitchen. Beautiful pool. I can't say enough good things about this beautiful house. Lucio and Maria are wonderful. We were three couples and it worked perfectly. Nice BBQ - charcoal. No negatives. We were all sorry to leave.

We absolutely loved Casa Konomi! This was our first time renting a private villa in Mexico, so we were a little skeptical on what to expect and we were so delighted that it was everything we had hoped for and more. For the most part everything mentioned about the property is on target or beyond expectations (i.e. the well equipped kitchen) with the exception of the extra sofa/sleeper upstairs (there are only two bedrooms the Master with a King no sofa in the room and the second bedroom had 2 full or queen size beds) and there was no tricycle with a cooler to be found. But for us this was not a problem as there were only 2 of us and this place was absolutely perfect for us! I have to agree with the previous review in that Casa Konomi looks beautiful in the photos but it is even better in person. This is no ordinary Caribbean constructed and decorated villa, it is so beautifully and eclectically crafted and decorated that the house provided a perfect luxurious escape for us. The 2 of us go on vacation to treat ourselves, relax and enjoy each other’s company. We’ve been to the Riviera Maya 13 times and no longer have the desire to engage in all the tourist activities, share our space & time with other people as we have done so many times when staying at the better resorts in the area south of Playa; so staying at this wonderful home with a private pool, glorious surroundings inside & including a golf cart for us to get around this lovely quaint town was everything we needed to have one of the best vacation experiences we have ever had!!! To the owners - Thank you so much for sharing your fabulous home with us!!!
We would recommend this marvelous villa to others overall, however I’m not sure this would be a great place to stay if you have younger children under the age of 8 years as there is no shallow spots in the pool plus the house has so many nooks to escape to and is so artfully decorated that just trying to keep your eye on the little ones so they don’t harm themselves or break something could get exhausting and defeat the fact this should be glorious place to retreat to. -

As I write this we are still on vacation-now on Cozumel-wishing that our second week could've been at Casa Konomi as well (not an option; they were booked this week.) Our current rental desperately needs coaching from the owners at Konomi!
The main thing that struck me about Casa Konomi is the care that was taken in decorating the house. A vacation rental home ought to feel like a vacation in its own right and not simply be a place to hang your hat- at least that's true when it is billed as a luxury home or you are told "it's beautiful". Konomi looks beautiful in the photos and its better than that (hint: you need better photos on your property management sites). The place is just eye candy, whether its mosaics and stained glass or drapes and comforters. Nothing looks second hand or worn down and furniture is such that you actually do want to lounge, sit and lie down in.
The other thing I loved is how well-appointed the kitchen is. We did cook, in fact our best meals were had inside the house and that felt fun to do and less like work because there was such a range of tools and it made dicing and mixing and so forth for a family of ten so much easier.
We all loved it--all ten of us-- and we all miss it. Oh, including the golf cart as part of the rental was greatly appreciated. We had teens ages 14-21 and the older ones had a blast with that additional freedom and mobility!
Lucio and Maria were both efficient and friendly, though I felt terrible that Maria had to work right after her mother passed away and I wonder if a substitute could not have been found? We even told Lucio we would be fine if she left earlier in the week but we were told everything was "okay". That said, the house was spotless and sparkling which seems a miracle for such a large place.
We would obviously recommend this lovely haven, though I have a couple of caveats regarding the description. We were a group of 10 (not the max of 14) and even then we needed to use both one an mattress and two persons slept on the long sofa. So while my husband and I were living in the lap of luxury in the master bedroom with a King bed, private bath and a/c in the room, our two sons were sleeping on sofa in the living room and my cousin was on an air mattress in the hallway/foyer of the upstairs area (there is no futon bed as noted by the property manager and description) They did not have a/c. My point is only that not everyone had the same quality of experience; while the house is large in terms of square footage and lots of great decks and corners for solo or quiet moments, neither the beds or the dining situation were built for large or extended families. The dining room inside only seats four so we never used it. We sat on the porch which sat six and then did makeshift seating for the rest near that table. Not ideal, but the architecture doesn't allow for a much larger table in either area. I would personally not advertise it for 12 to 14 unless it is made very clear that people will be "on top of one another" and that the full bathrooms are inside of the three bedrooms. It is an ideal place for 8 or under or only 6 if they are all couples.Response from Lisa Gunderson - 01/06/2013

Great comments Elle, thank you. We'll review how we word the sleeping arrangements when there are more guests than beds.
We can't wait for you to return. Every year, the owners make improvements on this house in the spring and fall, so it just gets better and better! We will also offer you as a returning guest the best deal available, which is often better than the advertised rates.
Looking forward to having you as our guest again!

This is a truly special home. It is large, airy and comfortable with many places to relax. I stayed here with my four children and we still felt like there were places we didn't utilize! Our caretakers were there daily to clean and check on our comforts. The golf cart was really so convenient for a quick trip into town or to the Lagoon. Much easier than driving a car. The housekeeper cooked for us one night and my only wish is that I'd had her cook sooner! The food was so delicious and she made so much, we could have eaten it for 3 days! When we were there a tropical storm came through and even though we had to forego sightseeing for a day - we didn't mind because the house was so comfy! We loved it!

We are delighted to hear you love as much as we do! One of the best things about a return trip, other than the fabulous fact that you will be back in Akumal, is that we offer special rates for return guests. Start planning early to make sure you get the dates you need. Thank you so much for your kind review. - Lisa
