Superb stay as usual per repeat customers. Rhett the administrator and his assistant Maria made our arranngements smooth and relaxing from the first day through the last day. The housekeeper Getty and her husband Pedro were friendly and efficient. We will naturally be back.

We celebrated Thanksgiving at Villa Los Primos. It is our second time renting in the akumal area. This home is in a gated community called akumal South. There are perhaps 18 homes in this secluded beach community. The beachfront is marvelous. A little rocky upon entering the water so watershoes or tevas are a good idea. You can snorkel or kayak right off the beach. Small ocean side pool. The house is nicely appointed. We rented the apartment over the garage for extra space. It is actually quite spartan compared to the main house. Bedrooms are air conditioned. We had an issue with one ac unit and it was remedied within a day and a half...the manager apologized that it took so long but a national holiday interfered with repairs. Of course the bedroom with the problem ac was for the most heat sensitive person in our group. Some of us didn't bother with the ac. Between the ceiling fans and breeze it was comfortable most nights. The manager Rhett made an appearance within 24 hours to give us a brief on the area, things to do, answer questions, etc. A very personable gentleman. We have one in our party that has issues with stairs so we tried to pick a home with at least one main level master bedroom. Unfortunately there are quite a few stairs to get into the place from the road and when on the main level there are steps from the bedroom/foyer/kitchen to the living room/dining room. This family member figured out that going around the side of the house to the back/oceanfront eliminated all but one step to get into the house. The DVD player is in one of the bedrooms upstairs which is disappointing as we brought some Dvd's and thought we could watch them together in the living room. The housekeeper and gardener are a husband/wife team. They were very pleasant and unobtrusive. They will prepare meals for the cost of groceries and a per person charge. We had them prepare our Thanksgiving day feast: Chicken mole, chicken fajitas, and garlic shrimp. It was lovely and they cleaned up too! A negative of this place is that there are no restaurants in walking distance. We usually went to Tulum or akumal to eat. Leo's is a pizza place that will deliver. We had their pizza one night and it was excellent. Their number can be found in the information booklet that is on the coffe table. We went to Xel Ha for a day. We always do and it is a great way to spend the day. We get the all inclusive package so people can eat and drink all day...of course we designate a duty driver... The homes to either side are very close. One home had a bunch of shrieking little girls but they seemed to retire very early so it wasn't an issue. The area is very family friendly. No spring breaker types here. You can walk to akumal. We did so 3 times. It is about a 35 minute walk each way and you do have to pick your way through some rocky patches but it was good exercise and fun. You pass some all inclusives once you get out of the
akumal South cove. Take water as it gets hot or buy a bottle when you get to akumal at the beach bar or the little sundries store. We would recommend ordering groceries, soft drinks, beer, wine, etc ahead of time. It is so nice to walk into a fully stocked house. We use the services of RivieraMayaGroceries for this and it is such a time saver! Granted we went to the store a couple of times for odds and ends but it was so nice not to have to spend hours of our vacation time in a grocery store. Their rates are reasonable and there is a $25 delivery charge. One last note...a bit stingy with the towels. We had 7 ladies (actually 3 teenage girls) and 2 gents in our party. Most of us like one bath towel for our body and one for our hair. There never were enough towels. -

The only concern we had was that the neighbors were too close for privacy but overall a great stay.

Best family vacation we have taken and we would love to return yearly. There are still many things in the area that we have not done yet. We highly recommend Los Primos and Akumal Villas, esp. South Akumal Villas. Very pristine private house and beach, great staff and management. Excellent for children.
