Description from the owner
South Akumal (one and a half miles south of Akumal) has 25 homes (no hotels, condos, or time-shares) in a gated community rimming a very private, secluded, sandy-beach bay. There is a reef about 100 yards offshore, giving it a protected lagoon of water from four to ten feet deep and 100 yards wide for its own private aquarium (one almost always has the entire bay to themselves, when swimming). It is a laid-back, easy-going community of retirees and vacationers. It is for the family who wishes to escape, be reasonably secluded, and achieve near-total relaxation with relative privacy.
Our home is ocean-oriented. The upstairs master suite...Read more

Silver Spring, MarylandA Slice Of Heaven

This is the second time we've stayed at Casa de Acacia and we can't get enough. The house is the perfect setting for escaping our busy lifestyles and relaxing with our large family. We stayed here a couple years ago and fell in love with the area. The beach is beautiful with snorkeling right out the back door. On our first trip, we did all the touristy things, like Excaret and the Tulum ruins, but we decided to just park ourselves on the beach for the week and enjoy the house. The kids played in the pool while we relaxed in hammocks or beach chairs catching up on our reading. We all enjoyed snorkeling and then coming into a lovely home and a yummy meal made by Maggie. Maggie and Jorge (the caretakers) do a nice job maintaining the home and are very warm and friendly. The house is spacious and the rooms are very private. We highly recommend Casa de Acacia. We will be back!

The rental property in Akumal is a place to cherish your privacy. The beach is beautiful and you can walk right into the town of Akumal by the beach. I have never experienced such terrific snorkelling. The water is calm and clear. If you want to ride waves and play in the surf, then this place is not for you. Water shoes are required. But the water is not deep (usually 3-5') and you can spend hours in the water because it is warm and there is so much to see.
Lisa is a joy to deal with because she answers all your questions and makes you feel comfortable, and Maggie and her husband take care of the property like it is their own. And, she cooks up some real tasty Mexican food. Ask her for some salsa the way she eats it and you'll never want to have salsa from North America again!
My family and I (8 of us) had a wonderful time in Akumal. We would like to return one day. -
Arkansas Beach Nuts
Little Rock, ARBest beach vacation spot!
Left on 02/18/2010 for a stay in November 2009
Our week at Casa Acacia was more than we ever expected. The home was
nice, not over the top, but very comfortable. The staff were kind, helpful, but
stayed out of the way. The best part was the beach. Very private, even with
neighbors. The yard was shaded and fabulous! The views off of the roof were
wonderful. We took day trips almost every day, and our only regret was not
spending more time just lounging in the sand in the front yard. We will most
certainly rent this home again and recommend it highly! -

Kansas CitySimply incredible, relaxing and beautiful.

While I would love to dog on the property to keep it a secret I simply can't. To
wake every morning knowing you can have coffee at the waters edge with few
if any neighbors is a fantastic treat. Being able to kayak, snorkel and sunbath
without the normal crowds simply says it all. This is our third stay at this home
and we plan ahead, grab groceries for our stay, small side trips to Tulum or
Playa del Carmen are often on the itinerary as is the occasional dinner in
Akumal. The dive shop at La Buena Vida is well priced and the folks there are
super nice.
Treat yourselves to the dining experience of Maggie's cooking, between
Maggie and Jorge the house and grounds are always sparkling.
