Hjørring, DenmarkLa amapola - a wonderful house !
Left on 09/24/2012 for a stay in September 2012
3 generations ( including two babies) spent a lovely week in La amapola.
It is a wonderful house with lots of personality and charme, lovely terrasses, great swimmingpool and a big kitchen :-) (Spanish country roads at night are only for bravehearts - so we desisted from having dinner in restaurants, and did the cooking in the house)
They view over lake Vinuela is fabulous.
The owners live close by and they are very kind and helpful.
We should like to go there again.

LondonA beautiful house in a spectacular setting.
Left on 08/14/2012 for a stay in August 2012
We've stayed at this property for a few years now and it never fails to impress the whole family. Views over Lake Vinuela are spectacular and the house is spacious and comfortable with a really homely feel. The swimming pool is a great size and our children spend many hours in it.
This is the perfect place to unwind. -

Noordwijk - The NetherlandsA fantastic place to spend your andalucian holiday
Left on 06/18/2012 for a stay in June 2012
We loved our stay in La amapola. The villa is great and really comfortable with good beds, a really nice kitchen and great badrooms. The decorating is nice and stylisch, on the inside. Outside there are many places to sit and eat, have drinks or just relax. The pool is also fantastic, a really nice place to spend a relaxing day.
The view is spectacular and the gardens exceptionally beautiful.
La amapola is a villa that will stay in our hearts and we can reccomend it to everyone that would like to spend their holliday in the andalucian countryside.

BalmainA beautiful rural retreat
Left on 06/17/2012 for a stay in May 2012
La amapola is extremely comfortable and included is everything you need for a wonderful holiday. There was an extremely well equipped kitchen, a fabulous BBQ facility, plenty of rooms (bedrooms, bathrooms and living rooms). There was also a pool with a fabulous view, plenty of outside courtyard space, all with exceptional privacy. We have stayed in many gites, villas, cottages and the like but this one outshone them all and we would definitely recommend it and would love to go back when possible.
La amapola is set in the andalusian mountains with fabulous views from many parts of the villa and two acre property. It is located near several villages and shopping or eating out is not a problem. We preferred to eat out for lunch and cook for ourselves at night, so we could enjoy the sunsets and a glass of wine while admiring the views. Malaga is one hour away, with its vast array of markets, restaurants and shops if needed. Other tourist towns such as Ronda and Grenada are a short drive away. There are some fabulous walks in the area and we explored some of these.
The hosts are extremely generous with a comprehensive starter pack of food and wine. They are keen to assist with recommendations for restaurants, places to go and the like; nothing is too much trouble. Shane and Bea generously leave many of their Cd's, books Dvd's etc for guests use and WiFi is available throughout the property.

London, EnglandStunning Mountain Retreat
Left on 12/10/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Nestled high in the beautifully rugged Andalusian mountains outside of Malaga and featuring breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding mountains and lake-filled valley below, La Amapola is a stunning property. The rustic house includes a fantastic kitchen replete with all modern amenities and, at the far end, a fire-warmed reading nook. The cozily snug sitting room/library is the perfect place to relax with a book or glass of Rioja after a day spent hiking the surrounding hillsides. The three bedrooms are spacious and well appointed. Outside, the front veranda, with its sweeping views, is an ideal spot for morning coffee. The large, in-ground swimming pool sits on a hill above the house. Spanish oak, olive and pomegranate trees dot the two plus acres on which the house sits. My wife and I stayed at La Amapola in October of this year and are counting the days until we can return.

We have rented many vacation places over the years. Without a doubt, this one tops our list. The setting, views, logistics, comfort level, and overall experience were all top notch. We stayed a week with our children (6 and 11 years old), who loved the fantastic deep pool. La amapola has given us very fond memories and we can only hope to go back.

MalagaBlissfully Relaxing
Left on 05/23/2011 for a stay in May 2011
La amapola is in one of the most beautiful locations in southern Spain. The view from the large hill-top swimming pool is absolutely spectacular, stretching down over olive groves and meadows of wild flowers to the blue lake below and on to the sea. The house itself has a vast kitchen and verandah and attractive bedrooms. The couple who own it are very hospitable and helpful. We had a wonderful time and can't wait to come back!

IrelandWonderful stay in charming villa
Left on 10/19/2010 for a stay in October 2010
We (couple with a 4 month old baby) spent a lovely week in La amapola in October. The villa is perfectly situated for a quiet relaxing week, in the mountains overlooking a lake below. There are tracks leading from the villa which are perfect for walking and jogging. The surrounding olive groves and gardens are delightful. We really enjoyed the library of books and Dvds, cooking in the fabulous large and well equipped kitchen, and barbequeing. The pool and outdoor areas are perfect for relaxing. Shane and Bea were extremely easy to arrange the rental with, and very responsive to any subsequent queries we had. They were on hand during our stay to give us local tips and pointers, although gave us complete privacy except when we called round to them. This was an excellent experience and we would definitely recommend this property for people looking for a peaceful oasis in which to relax.

Lancaster, UKPerfect Holiday
Left on 07/21/2010 for a stay in September 2009
What more can you want from a holiday? Stunning views, an amazingly large pool, grapes hanging overhead ready to eat on just one of the gorgeous terraces, and all the books and Dvds you need to see you through the next 5 years! Highlights included watching baby swallows taking their first flight. It was amazing to see them over the next week soaring around us and drinking from the pool.

LondonThe best holiday villa we've ever had - by a mile!
Left on 07/10/2010 for a stay in August 2009
We've holidayed all over the place and this is the only place that has ever ticked all the boxes for us: Secluded location with views to die for, beautiful and tastefully renovated farmhouse - within hours of arrival it felt like home! It's well placed for either heading north to Granada or south to the beach but we've found it hard to tear ourselves away from the beautiful pool and surroundings, which is why we've been four times in the last two years!

A fantastic place to unwind and relax. A beautiful house in beautiful grounds. We had a great time just relaxing in the house! - enjoying the pool, gardens and barbecue - as well as seeing all the birds (golden eagles, nightingales, swallows), the lovely scenery of andalucia and the perfect weather. Loved every minute of our time here!
