perfect location, charming cottage but dated and worn

we had a lovely week here, fantastic location on the waterfront, charming cottage. however I did feel the standard of accommodation was not the best ; the fittings carpets etc were all old and worn and although you could tell the house had been given as good a clean as possible, it didnt really feel as fresh and clean as you would hope for on a holiday. Luckily it was great weather so we pretty much lived outside on the doorstep watching the sea and the world go by - lovely !
It wasnt costly so we didnt expect anything fancy but it was a bit dated and worn to feel really good about.
that said, it is a great spot and the cottage itself would be heavenly if it were freshened up .
Great pub nearby and good shop. frendly locals.
it's the location. not the cottage

If you want a 'no frills' base to get out and about and discover this beautiful area then you can do much worse than Victoria cottage. Very clean and tidy if somewhat dated interior. About 20yards from the loch with a fabulous view out to sea.
It does have some downsides, paying for electric on top of rental price!, the shower- might as well use a watering can, toilet situated under sloping part of roof, not ideal for men, heating should be up dated
Yes there are a few gripes but after a long day out walking, to be able to have a dry, clean, comfortable place to return to is good
Location- the only real thing I can say about the area around Shieldaig is too much to see and do during the day, just not enough time to do it also you'll need to go back again and again! the sunsets aren't bad either.
Oh and before I forget, mobile phone reception not good unless stood outside by the loch or on top of a Munro, of which there are many to pick and choose from. Most of my calls to my partner where made from the latter.

Nice and quite not much to do but that was good for us.
Cottage is in need of updating, Kitchen Electric cooker very old uses lots of power, and electric meter is very expensive to use £18 in 2 days in September not very cold and out all day. But very good pub and fantastick food (Haddock great beer not bad.)would go back if updated.

Mackay's very efficient.
Excellent service. Mrs Macpherson was most helpful about linen as we had a complicated journey via various friends and 8 changes of train.
The house was most comfortable and warm. It had everything we needed
Wonderful location looking across the water to Shieldaig Island. Very peaceful.
We have always stayed in Fasaig village (Torridon) before but will hope to stay at Victoria Cottage again soon.

Have stayed before - only thing i would change is the beds - a little bit of roll together.
Perfect base for a relaxing holiday and plenty to do round the area

A great week in Shieldaig once again, catching up with friends and climbing hills. Cottage is a real home from home, well equipped and well presented, but why is it never available in February?

First visit to this area and more than happy with the location and the outlook. Description is accurate as the accommodation is quite old fashioned and we were not keen on metered electricity. However, the views were fantastic and the garden is a suntrap, when the sun shines!

The house was very comfortable and well equipped.
Magnificent situation on the loch shore and only a short distance from the local hotel and shop.
We were very lucky with the weather, but even on a bad day, Shieldaig is Heaven on Earth.
