In the center of the ancient city of Leiden, birthtown of Rembrandt the painter and the oldest university city of the Netherlands you will find our canal mansion. It is situated alongside one of the famous canals in an ancient building built around 1680.

Close to the famous cities of Amsterdam (19 miles), The Hague (20 miles), Rotterdam (20 miles) and the flowershow "Keukenhof" (19 miles) and beaches (17 miles)
Situated in the green heart of the Netherlands in the center of the city. The river Rhine flows through the center and gives it a lively atmosphere with lots of restaurants, squares and terraces.
Shops, restaurants etc. are at walking distance.
Very easy to go to Amsterdam, Rotterdam and the Hague by car or by public transportation (central station is at 15 minutes walk and busstop is at 300 metros).

Two couples stayed in the Penthouse apartment in alphen aan den Rijn, which is a very nice small town near Leiden. Unless one has a car, in order to get to any of the tourist spots, one has to take a train or bus to Leiden and then transfer to another train or bus. This was a minor incovenience. On the other hand, we liked staying in alphen a/d Rijn and met some really interesting people on the train. The Penthouse is spacious, modern and delightful. The master bedroom and bath are luxurious. The kitchen is exceptional. The owner's son lives nearby and was very helpful

Extremely comfortable and welcoming B&B.; Room and bathroom were great. Breakfast was good too
