      Well worth a visit

Left on 02/21/2012 for a stay in February 2012

Nice cottage well kept and in good location. Ideal for 2 people.Cottage is 3 min walk from the main street of alston. Had never been to this town before and it was well worth a visit. It is ideally placed for walking and travelling on to the lake district.Having been however it was not the sort of place that I would say I must go back there. After a days walking or driving there are a few pubs where you could spend a relaxing evening. Our favourite was the angell Inn which was small cosy and friendly . On the opposite side of the scale we found the Turks Head to be awful. A lot of beer was out of stock and I am afraid the attitude was oh well you will just need to have something else. For a one off week alston is worth the trip.

      Pleasantly Surprised by Kings Cottage

Left on 08/22/2011 for a stay in June 2011

This cottage turned out to be more spacious, modern, and comfortable than I was expecting. The lounge was a good size with 2 sofas, and a 32" tv. The kitchen, bathroom and bedroom were all spacious with modern amenities which didn't spoil the old fashioned charm of the cottage itself.

The cottage is located off the main road, down a sidestreet. The upside is that it is quiet. The downside is that parking can be a bit onerous, especially if the neighbour is parked there.

Alston itself is a pleasant market town with a few nice walks available such as alongside one of its 2 rivers. If you are prepared to travel 20 miles you can reach places such as Ullswater, Hadrian's Wall, and High Force waterfall. There are a few pubs, cafes, restaurants, and takeaways in town.

Having not spent any time in this area before, I found plenty to do in the week I was there and would recommend to others.

      relaxing

Left on 03/03/2011 for a stay in January 2011

The cottage was pretty and comfortable. Well Equipped. We did have a little bit trouble with the hot water for the shower/bath, but sorted it eventually.
Alston is a nice little village and the pubs were friendly, and dog friendly too.
All in all a very nice and relaxing stay.
