Grandma Z's Guesthouse is a three bedroom, 2 bath house available for short term rentals. Located in the small town of Alta Vista in northeast Iowa, this property works well for a quiet get away, for those times when family gathers for weddings and other celebrations, for hunting trips, and for short term work assignments in the area. We have had guests use it to host birthday parties, family reunions, bridal showers and holiday gatherings.

The property is fully furnished and includes linens, towels, pots and pans, dining needs, two televisions (including a SMART unit on the lower level), and wireless internet service with a desktop u...nit available for use. Other amenities include a charcoal grill (guests provide the charcoal), washer and dryer, hairdryer, iron and ironing board, board games, and cd player and radio.

The ranch style house features two bedrooms on the main floor, each equipped with a queen sized bed with a full bath (tub/shower combination) located off the hall between the bedrooms. The living room couch folds out into a full sized bed. One bedroom has a ceiling fan. The second main floor bedroom has a sliding patio door that opens onto a deck. Because the property borders on to a farm field, guests have told us they enjoy leaving the patio door drapes open at night to either watch the fireflies or to catch the great sunrises.

The kitchen is equipped with a full sized refrigerator and stove (glass top), dishwasher, microwave, coffeepot, toaster and a good selection of pots and pans and dining ware. A washer and dryer is also located on the main floor and can be used by guests.

On the lower level, you will find a bedroom equipped with a full sized bed and an egress window. A love seat tucked under the stairs folds out into a single bed. A bathroom with a shower and a kitchen area are also located on the lower level. A SMART tv and a desktop computer are available as well.

The house also contains a setting area on the porch with a patio table and 4 chairs plus additional seating. A few steps below the deck is a covered patio area with a picnic table and additional seating.

The house is no smoking unit. Pets are not allowed in the house but can be kenneled in the attached garage. Guests can smoke on the covered patio or elsewhere outside.

The house features keyless entry which is coded to a unique four digit code of the guests' choice. A second unit, The Recker House, is located directly across the street. Many guests rent both houses for larger family functions.Read more

Grandma Z's Guest House is located in Alta Vista, which is a small town in northeast Iowa. The town is known as "The Friendly Town" and we invite to come, experience the area and let us show you why we desire the name! The house is located approximately 4 miles from a bike trail that extends from Elma, Iowa into Minnesota. Both deer and pheasant hunters have stayed with us while working on bagging their limits. Davis Motorcycle Rally is held annual in New Hampton (15 miles), Little Brown Church is located in Nashua (20 miles), river rafting is available in Charles City (20 miles). The town of Alta Vista has an accredited library, a park equipped with playground equipment, two restaurants/bars, bank, post office, gas station/convenience store, etc. Offstreet parking is available. A second guest house, The Recker House, is available directly across the street, making this a great place for larger family gatherings.
