Casa Alata is a charming apartment which faces the sun and the sea. It sleeps four people. From Casa Alata you will enjoy a breathtaking view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi . Casa Alata is 70 square meters (750 square feet). It features a spacious private terrace with a view of the sea, air conditioning (please read description below to check in which rooms the units are installed), winter heating and WI-FI Internet access.
You will be roughly 3 km (1.8 miles) from Amalfi. You will find the closest restaurant at 1.5 km (roughly 1 mile), shops at 300 meters (990 feet), the stop for the local bus and the SITA bus a few meters (feet...) away and the closest beach at roughly 1 km (0.6 miles) including 400 stairway steps. You will reach Casa Alata from the street level going down a 40-meters (130-feet) public walkway that includes approximately 35 stairway steps.
You will not need a car to stay at Casa Alata. If you do have one, you will be able to park it along the public roads (the actual distance might vary depending on the availability of parking spaces) or in a private parking lot downtown (where a space can be reserved).
Casa Alata is located in a prominent position on a picturesque stretch of rocky coast about 100 meters (about 328 feet) above sea level. It overlooks the sea really close by.
Casa Alata is part of a small hamlet of old houses gathered on the top of a promontory, all facing the sea and the sun and also surrounded by typical terraced gardens where lemon trees are cultivated. Here live the inhabitants of Amalfi, with their tranquil lifestyle away from crowds of tourists. The houses are distributed around a tiny old church and connected through stone stairways which descend from the upper part of the coast to the area down below, the beach and the sea.
At least once, if you are in good shape, leave the car and the bus aside and go down towards the sea through this old pathway. It is a walk which will fill with you joy and energy: throughout the whole path you will be embraced by the vivid colors and perfumes of the Mediterranean vegetation and attracted by the enchanting scenery of blue sea right in front of you…
You will have several choices regarding beaches to go to. You can take the bus and reach the beach of Amalfi . From there it is also possible to take small boats which take bathers to splendid small inlets along the coast.
One of these inlets, the so-called beach of Santa Croce , is reached even on foot from Villa Alata, and the walk is definitely one not to be missed if you feel like climbing down 400 steps dug into the rock overlooking the sea.
To go back up you can get small boats which in only 10 minutes take you on a splendid ride on the sea to the port of Amalfi, where you can take the bus to go back to the house. During spring/summer all the beaches feature open restaurants and bars, rental of umbrellas and deck chairs, and also small boats connecting to places nearby.
In Amalfi, you can also go scuba diving and practice water sports.
The terrace is 50 square meters (540 square feet) large. You will be able to enter it from the living room and from the bedrooms. It is equipped with a table, chairs and sun loungers. From the terrace you will enjoy a splendid view on a stretch of coast and of the gulf of Salerno far in the horizon.
The living room is paved with hand-made majolica tiles, in the characteristic style of the Amalfi Coast . The ceiling is high and vaulted. The furnishings are elegant and refined. The furnishings include a sofa and two armchairs. The dining table can accommodate six guests. In this room you will find a flat-screen satellite television. From the living room you will be able to enter the terrace with a view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi through a French door. The room is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit.
You will be able to enter the kitchen from the living room climbing three steps. It is well equipped, with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, an Italian-style coffee-maker and an American-style coffee-maker (bring your filters!).
Important notice: members of your party might need to walk through this bedroom to reach the second bedroom (they can avoid going through this room by entering from the terrace). You will be able to enter the first bedroom from the kitchen or from the terrace. The floor is paved with hand-made majolica tiles, in the characteristic style of the Amalfi Coast. The ceiling is high and vaulted. The furnishings are elegant and refined. The room has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). In this room you will find a flat-screen satellite television. From the bedroom you will be able to enter the terrace with a view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi through a French door. The bedroom is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a toilet, a hydromassage shower and a hairdryer.
You will be able to enter the second bedroom from the other first bedroom. The floor is paved with hand-made majolica tiles, in the characteristic style of the Amalfi Coast. The ceiling is high and vaulted. The furnishings are elegant and refined. The room has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). In this room you will find a flat-screen satellite television. From the bedroom you will be able to enter the terrace with a view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi through two French doors. The bedroom is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, equipped with a washbasin, a toilet, a fully enclosed shower and a hairdryer.

I have been in the hospitality business for years. So I know what to look for and what to expect. I can honestly say without hesitation that we received the most gracious, and helpful service I have ever experienced. The owner of the villa and restaurant took very good care of us as well as his son in law, Romello. When we arrived in amalfi we were asked to meet them at the restaurant in order to be driven to the Villa. After our long travels we obviously opted to eat in their restaurant al Pesce d' Oro (well played ,ninja). We actually ate there on 2 occasions as well as a pizza delivery from...yes the owner when we were too tired to venture out. The food is amazing as is the service. After eating in several places in amalfi and surrounding towns, the food and service rates as on of the top 5. On to the villa. It was very clean, the view is amazing and the beds are comfortable. The showers were ones you never wanted to finish. I am sad to leave this magical place. While relaxing on the spacious and private patio and listening to the church bells, I actually tried to scheme a way to buy this wonderful place and never go back to the states. Amalfi (while intoxicating) would never have been as beautiful without Casa alata and it's lovely owners. We will miss you terribly and think fondly of the whole experience.

Sooo relaxing! Sita buses can take you anywhere along the amalfi coast...i.e. Positano, Sorrento, Ravello, Pompeii, etc. The view from the terrace is spectacular! Couldn't stop taking pics from sunrise to sunset.
