Villa Marcella is a characteristic and welcoming independent house located on a hillside, facing the sea. It sleeps eight people. From Villa Marcella you will enjoy an enchanting view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi . Villa Marcella is 170 square meters (1830 square feet). It features a spacious private terrace with a view of the sea, air conditioning (please read description below to check in which rooms the units are installed) and winter heating.

You will be roughly 3 km (1.9 miles) from the center of Amalfi, where you will find restaurants, shops, public transportation, the beach and the tourist port. You will find the closest... restaurant at 1.5 km (roughly 1 mile), a grocery store at 400 meters (440 yards), the stop for the SITA bus Amalfi - Pogerola line a few meters (feet) away and the closest beach at roughly 1 km (0.6 miles) including 400 stairway steps. You will reach Villa Marcella from the street level going up a short public walkway that includes approximately 60 stairway steps.

You will not need a car to stay at Villa Marcella. If you do have one, you will be able to park it along the public roads (the actual distance might vary depending on the availability of parking spaces).

Villa Marcella is part of a medieval building, that used to be an ancient Saracen watch tower. It is placed high up on a picturesque tract of rocky coast, at a height of approximately 100 meters (330 feet) above the sea level, and almost sheer above the sea itself. Every view of the seascape in this area is truly breathtaking.

Villa Marcella is part of a bunch of ancient houses that cling to the top of a rocky spur, all facing the sea and the sun, and surrounded by lemon growths. Here the authentic locals live their life, with its quiet rhythm, and there is no crowd of tourists.

The terrace is 80 square meters (860 square feet) large. It is partly shaded by a perfumed bougainvillea pergola. It is equipped with tables, chairs, a sun umbrella and deck chairs. Here you will also find a portable barbecue. From the terrace you will enjoy an enchanting view of the sea and of the coast of Amalfi.

The living room is paved with tiles with inlaid handmade mayolica tiles, in the characteristic style of the Amalfi Coast . The ceiling has characteristic exposed wood beams. The furnishings are warm and welcoming, and include some antique pieces. The furnishings include two sofas. In the living room you will also find a cooking area. The kitchenette is equipped with a four-burner gas cooker, an electric oven, a refrigerator with freezer and an Italian-style coffee-maker. The dining table can accommodate eight guests. In this room you will find a television. The room has three windows with a view of the sea. It is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit.

You will be able to enter the first bedroom from the corridor. The ceiling is high and vaulted. The room has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The room has two windows with a view of the sea and of the coastline. The bedroom is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit. This bedroom has an en-suite bathroom, spacious and equipped with a washbasin, a toilet and a fully enclosed shower.

You will be able to enter the second bedroom from the corridor. The ceiling is high and vaulted. The room has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The furnishings include a desk. The room has two windows with a view of the sea and of the coastline. The bedroom is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit. Here you will also find a mini refrigerator.

You will be able to enter the third bedroom from the corridor. The ceiling is high and vaulted. The room has a matrimonial bed (160 cm/62 inches, wider than a queen-size bed). The furnishings include a wood sofa and a desk. The room has a window with a view of the sea. The bedroom is equipped with an air conditioning/heating unit.

You will be able to enter the fourth bedroom from the living room. This room has no door, but it is closed by a curtain. It has a bunk bed (two single beds, one on top of the other).

The bathroom is spacious and equipped with a washbasin, a toilet, a shower and a bathtub with shower wand. You will be able to enter the bathroom from the corridor.

You will be able to reach the laundry room from the living room. Here you will find a washing machine, an iron and an ironing board at your disposal.

  The villa offered our family just about everything we needed. It's ideal location, great views and clean accommodations were perfect for us. Being able to use the coastal bus system is the only way to get around the Amalfi coast. The bus stop was literally at the foot of the steps leading to our apartment. We bought fresh produce and food in Amalfi or the nearby convenience store to cook just about every night saving us some money. The washing machine and dryer did not really work efficiently enough for all of our clothes so we ended up using laundry facilities in Amalfi. We left all of our clothes in the morning and when we returned from a day of exploration we picked them up. The only frustration we had was hooking up with the local agent. The directions provided included us looking for a floral shop that was no longer in existence. Hopefully, an easier rendezvous place will be forthcoming. We drove from Rome to Amalfi, so we took full advantage of the offer to have our cars parked at a local "garage" which was right across the street from the base of the steps and bus stop. It was well worth the extra expense. Parking along the roadway is impossible. We would go back and use this place in a heartbeat.
