Perched high above the tranquil lake of San Ruffino on the edge of a National Park is found the exclusive and luxurious Villa Raffaele. Its position is simply spectacular with panoramic views across the Tenna Valley encompassing the dramatic Sibillini mountain range and the medieval hilltop town of Monte San Martino; home of myths and legends which lends itself to some fantastic walking and hiking for instance through the nearby gorge of the “ Gola dell Infernaccio”; Devil’s Throat. The flora and fauna is wonderful. All tucked away in an area bordering T...uscany and Umbria called Le Marche, often described as “Italy’s best kept secret”.
Picturesque Amandola is a five-minute drive away. It has a full range of facilities; supermarkets, cafes, restaurants, banks petrol stations, doctors, even a small hospital with an A & E dept. The historic town of Ascoli Piceno the “city of travertine’ is thirty minutes away and there is a twice daily coach service to Rome from Amandola. The beach resorts of the Adriatic coast are less than an hour away. Golf course about forty-five. Ancona airport is a distance of 65 miles. Pescara 90. 5 km distance and the beach resorts of the Adriatic coast can be reached in 45 minutes.
Villa Raffaele is set in 15 acres of its own woodlands with a small vineyard and an abundance of mature trees close to the house. It has a beautifully landscaped garden and large pool that create a platform for the breathtaking scenery. The villa has been carefully designed with cool spacious cream interiors and natural materials of travertine and solid dark hardwood. There are antiques, original art and sculptures and many individual artefacts which the owner has collected from her travels around the world.The accommodation offers a magnificent opulent open plan Penthouse across the entire top floor with a wet room and sunken Roman style bath. There are three further double bedrooms, two of which are en-suited; one has a separate bathroom. There are extensive living and entertaining areas both inside and out with much attention to detail and finishes such as mood lighting and night time air-conditioning in the Penthouse.
Ground Floor. The accommodation is set over three graduating levels set into the hillside, each which opens out onto its own terrace or portico designed to create an ambience of ‘indoor/outdoor’ living, with an emphasis on symmetry and balance. Entrance is via a double front door flanked by two topiary trees which leads into a large open plan kitchen and living area including a kitchen island and two cream sofas either side of a low dark hardwood coffee table. The kitchen units are handmade pale wood. There is a large oven & gas hob, integral fridge- freezer, dishwasher & microwave, double sink, Nigella Lawson & Alessi accessories. In this area is also found a separate utility room with washing machine, iron and ironing board & a downstairs toilet with bidet. Steps lead down from the kitchen into the dining room that can have an intimate atmosphere or be opened with sliding doors into further floor space to make a large party room. Three sets of doors lead outside onto a covered portico.
First Floor. A turning staircase leads up to a galleried landing in which hangs a glorious three metre hand beaten cooper lamp from Marrakesh. From here is accessed a large living room running across the back of the house & divided into two sections; the first is the informal area with comfortable sofas facing a flat screen T.V, the other has leather sofas around a fireplace. French doors open onto a terrace that offers a 180 degree panorama of the lake & the Sibillini Mountain range . An ornate wrought iron ‘Gone with the Wind’ style staircase splays out onto the garden below. There are three double bedrooms on this floor, all have usual bedroom facilities.Bedroom 1: Kingsized bed. Own balcony with beautiful handmade wrought iron balustrade . Ensuite bathroom with toilet, bidet, shower & bowl style sink on a travertine shelf. Bedroom 2: Two single beds. Ensuite bathroom with toilet, bidet, shower & bowl style sink on a travertine shelf. Bedroom 3: Double bed . Separate bathroom next door with toilet, bidet and sink.
Second Floor. The magnificent Penthouse, with night time air-conditioning, is across the entire top floor. It has been designed to maximise the light and views of the Villa’s enviable position; twenty individual windows create frames for a particular view of the stunning scenery. It has an open plan layout, but to facilitate privacy if needed, an aperture, (that can be curtained off) leads from the bedroom area into the bathroom. The bathroom has a stunning Roman style Jacuzzi bath that sits regally upon travertine steps. Either side of this are oval stone sinks on individual tables. There is a large shower/wet room area enclosed by a large sheet of glass. Oval shaped toilet & bidet.The bedroom area contains an impressive handmade emperor sized bed and an area where there is bench seating and a table. French doors lead onto a sheet glass sided terrace with a daybed underneath a sail style shade.
Outside. The property is accessed through large wrought iron double gates and in keeping with the historical style of a large Italian Villa; a further set of gates leads down into a beautifully landscaped garden. In a manner that almost creates an infinity effect, it provides a platform for the stunning scenery across the valley and the lake below. It has been designed along simple clean lines with a theme of curves, circles and beautiful ornate wrought iron. The covered arched stone portico provides a cool relief from the sun with a frescoed stone table and sumptuous sofas. Beside the large floodlit pool there is sunbathing shade under the wooden loggia with canvas shades. Relax on cream padded wooden sun beds. This area also provides a BBQ and serving zone. All of your senses are catered for with an abundance of wonderful scents of lavender, jasmine, thyme, sage and rose. The outside is generously and thoughtfully lit for night time ambience and there are power points in the two main garden areas where you can plug in the villa provided I-Pod docking station.
Other amenities: Wi-Fi, I pod docking station, large flat screen TV, Sky TV including films, DVD player, extensive book library, Playstation 2 & Play Station Game Library; welcome pack food provisions; full ‘Baby kit’; cot, high chair, beautiful bulrushes style wicker Moses basket on rocking stand. We had a wonderful and perfect week at Villa Raffaele. Many thanks to Kay and Simone for the worm welcome and a very good assistance during the week. Villa Priora is a brand new Country House, we had been the first guests at all.
The views are breathtaking, the House inside is very well equipped and you can feel the personal style of Kay, which gives you the feeling, being at home starting from the first minute. We had the pleasure to stay in the studio under the roof. This is very special, with a huge bathroom and a wonderful private terrace, overlooking the pool, the valley and the mountains.
Everything in and around the villa exceeds our expectations, the picture gives a good impression, but the reality is much more better. Once more thanks to Kay and Simone and good luck with your future guests
