There are plenty of activities to occupy the whole family right on the doorstep, and Amble-by-the-Sea is also well located from which to explore the rest of Northumberland. To the south of Amble lies Coquet Island, an RSPB reserve, where boat trips around the island can be organised and puffins, eider ducks and terns can be seen. There are many charming coastal villages to be discovered including Alnmouth and Craster, whilst further inland the castles of Warkworth and Alnwick along with the National Trust properties of Wallington Hall and Cragside House are all within an easy reach.
