What's Nearby:
Additional Location Information
The room is located to the east of the city center in a quiet, typical Amsterdam neighborhood the "Indische Buurt". Amsterdam’s historic center is less than 15 minutes away by bike or tram.
Indische Buurt ("Indies Neighborhood") is a neighborhood in the eastern portion of the city of Amsterdam, in the Dutch province of Noord-Holland. The name dates from the early 20th century, and is derived from the fact that the neighborhood's streets are named after islands and other geographical concepts in the former Dutch colony of the Dutch East Indies. The first street was named in 1902.
In 2003, there were around 23,357 inhabitants. The neighborhood is bounded on the west by the railroad Amsterdam - Hilversum (with the Muiderpoort Station), on the east side by Flevopark, on the north side by Zeeburgerdijk and on the south side by the Ringvaart Watergraafsmeer.
Indische Buurt is the oldest part of the Zeeburg district and is very ethnically diverse, and a high percentage of the population is of immigrant origin (for Zeeburg this is already high at 55%, but higher in the Indische Buurt) and there are an estimated 100 languages spoken.

Boston, MAI've found my spot in amsterdam!
Left on 05/08/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Daniel was wonderful and extremely accommodating. He provided copies of maps with routes on how to get around on public transportation.
He lent me a mobile phone to use during my stay. His number I'd programmed in the phone and he asks that you contact him with questions if you get lost.
The room is nice with two twin beds. The apartment is easy to find and just about a five minute walk from the bus stop.
Daniel gave honest advice on where to go during my two days thereand I really appreciated that.
Can't comment on breakfast, didn't purchase it.
If I'm ever back in amsterdam, I'd love to stay here again. -

Left on 01/18/2013 for a stay in January 2013
Before coming to amsterdam, I knew that if I rent a local's house room I will have more knowledge about the life in amsterdam and feel and enjoy my time in there. And this is exactly what happened. Thanks to Daniel, I felt like a local and really had great time even though I was there for attending a training course. I even danced Salsa in a DE Kroon a club that has latin dance nights on Wednesdays and Sundays. I don't know how to thank Daniel enough for his kind and helpul suggestions about living in amsterdam. I will definetely visit amsterdam again and stay at Daniel's, but this just for fun.

@Daniel's was close to our park&ride; and was very well connected to the public transport, bus lines as well as trams. Everything is very clean, we could make tea and coffee in our room and there were several city guides to get inspired and to borrow for the city trips. The service was excellent and it started even before our stay with helpful itinerary descriptions and recommondations and tips for amsterdam via email.

Found Daniel's on airbnb. The room and house are neat, clean and tidy. A real plus is he is on the ground floor...no lugging bags up stairs! The apartment is walking distance to buses and trams. Don't miss the daily 'Dapper Markt'...easily reached in a 10 minute walk. Daniel had all the maps and info we needed on hand. He suggested things to do and even printed vouchers for us! Even when we were there, Daniel emailed us to check on our welfare and to give us updates on the weather forecast. Would definately stay with Daniel again. Helpful and a nice bloke too! Thanks Daniel.

I stayed at Daniels quiet garden view room for a total of five days. The first 2 days of my trip and the last 3 days of being in amsterdam. Daniel was really nice, respectful and helpful. He made me feel at home. When I first arrived he met me and gave me a tour of his home. His home, including the room I stayed in was really clean. He provided me with a lot of information about amsterdam/things to do. When I had to take a flight that was scheduled really early in the morning, he helped me a day in advance prepare for my departure. He showed me what time I needed to leave in order to be at the airport on time. He also reserved me a taxi. I left for the airport at 4:30 in the morning, and he was awake to see me off. I really enjoyed my stay at Daniels quiet garden view room. It is the perfect place to stay while on vacation.

Left on 09/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We stayed at Daniel's in September for three nights. We had a great time in amsterdam and the stay at Daniel's was perfect.
Prior to our arrival Daniel had sent me excellent information regarding the location of the flat, local transport costs and how to get to his place.
The flat is located about fifteen minutes on a bus from Centraal Station. It was clean and tidy and there was a drinks fridge, WiFi, hifi system, lots of travel and visitor information on amsterdam and even some novels!
The location was perfect for us. Close to the city and yet far away to avoid the hustle and bustle. Perfect place to wind down after a long day. The neighbourhood was very quiet and the residents were friendly. It was nice to get a view of amsterdam from the local's perspective and not just as a tourist. There were some great bars and restaurants nearby and we ended up going to a Middle Eastern restaurant nearly every night!
Daniel was a great host who knew the city very well and all the different areas, even going to the trouble of printing directions out whenever we went somewhere new!
Would I recommend @Daniel's to friends and family? Absolutely.
Would I stay again @Daniel's? Most definitely. -

I was most satisfied with my stay in Daniel's place. It was cozy, clean, and quiet. Daniel was very helpful in giving directions on how to best get to his place with a bit of luggage. On getting there he gave me directions on how best to get to do what I wanted in the time I had. He provided privacy though I knew he was there to provide any help he could if needed. I would recommend his place to my friends. His place is in a very convenient and safe area. I would definitely look into his place if I had another chance to go to amsterdam. Thanks, Daniel.

I stayed with my partner at Daniel's place for almost a week and we see Daniel as the perfect host. From the first moment he welcomed us in a very kindly, respectful and positive way. He provided us information about many places to go and he was always showing us the best alternatives in amsterdam. At his home everything is perfectly organized and clean, the room is nice, cozy, comfortably, quiet and is located in a nice neighboorhood and very well connected. My daughter and I stayed at Daniels for four days. Wow what a treat. The room and apartment are absolutely spotless. We stayed gone during the day, so we only saw Daniel in the mornings. Our breakfast time was candles and classical music along with anything you wanted to start the day. My daughter is 12 and I have to admit he did spoil her. The room is a lot larger than what the picture shows. It has a tremendous amount of room for luggage. The bus and tram is close by, and if you want like we did you can borrow his bikes. I would recommend Daniels in a heart beat.

Daniel was a great host! This was our first time staying in a B&B; and let's just say he set the bar really high. His home was extremely clean and very well organized. The garden view was so peaceful. Both my bf and myself were sick during our Europe trip and Daniel was kind enough to offer us lozenges for our sore throats. He was also very helpful by providing maps, magazines on things to do and any other advice we needed. The room came equipped with coffee and tea and WiFi. His home is very close to public transportation and getting to central amsterdam was a breeze. If I ever come back to amsterdam I would definitely be staying at his place again.

Daniel's place is clean, comfortable and convenient. Daniel is lovely and warm; a helpful host who had great knowledge of the City and pointed us in the right direction when we needed. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the city but is a short bus ride /bicycle ride to the centre. Daniel organised bikes for us so we could go wherever we wanted and explore almost all of the city and the island on bike. Daniel's place is located close to the water and is a short bike ride to the island. Nothing is too much trouble for Daniel, he was very considerate and gave us ideas about what we might need. We had a fantastic time. I would go there again. Thanks again Daniel.

Daniel is the most charming host, very profesional, kind and helpful.Immediately after recerving the room I got a wellcoming e-mail and complete instruction how to reach his place by car (we were travelling by car)and where to park my car for a reasonable price. The parking place is just aroud the corner and is safe to leave your car there. What ever we wanted to know before hand we got an answer guickly from Daniel.
As we then reach his place he came out to wellcome us to amsterdam and was very helpful for two ladies.
His apartment is the most cleanest place and he has decorated it with a good taste. The room for the guests is nice, simple, clean and full of light. The beds are comfortable ( we droped off like babies)with lovely down quilts and -pillows.
His place is not far away from the center and it's easy to use puplic transportation...Daniel was even so nice that he more or less took us to the bus stop hand in hand on our first day.
If you are sporty you even can reach everything by bike.
Daniel is really the person you can trust what ever comes. My friend lost her purse which was first a big mess. Daniel helped her, he made all the calls needed and was very supporting. As my friend got back home she got a call from consulate . Quess what? somebody had found her purse and after couple of days from this call she got the purse with her money. Happy end.
Amsterdam is lovely. We really enjoyed having there a short holiday. It's full of life and lots of interesting places to see.
If you are looking for a place to stay in amsterdam I warmly recommend Daniel's place. Thanks again Daniel!

Philadelphia, PennsylvaniaRefreshing when one’s expectations are exceeded on any trip
Left on 09/29/2011 for a stay in September 2011
It is always refreshing when one’s expectations are exceeded on any trip, and my stay at Daniel’s was exactly that. Daniel’s hospitality went well beyond any expectation I could have had before meeting him and was very fortunate to be his guest while staying in amsterdam. From the moment I walked in with a slight cold from a week of business travel in Germany/Switzerland, Daniel gave me some medication to subdue the cold. But that was not the best part, the room was perfect, amazing classical music in the background (which I really never turned off the entire time there), and just the feeling a relaxation from the moment I walked into his residence.
The pictures on Tripadvisor do not do justice to the accommodations. There is plenty of room, a nice relaxing small garden out your window which you have access to, and in my opinion a good location to get in/out of central amsterdam at any hour of the day/night. I would recommend trying to have dinner at the local café restaurant de ponteneur (about 10 min walk) which was probably my favorite meal in amsterdam, which Daniel recommended. Also take some time to explore the community around Daniel's residence, I found the best 2.5 euro sandwich of the trip at some small bakery a few blocks away. For the money and experience you simply cannot go wrong by staying at Daniels. -

When we arrived (which was late, and our eta was changed a few times due to travel woes), our beds were made, clean towels neatly wrapped, soothing music playing, and the smell of fresh eucalyptus/mint filled the air. Staying @Daniel's was great - it was easy to locate and accessible to all the major sites. Daniel was a fantastic host. He was very helpful when it came to all matters of tourism in amsterdam, offering advice on what to see and how to get to places (including maps). He was even willing to wake up at 5:30am on our last morning to make sure we got breakfast (which was very delicious!). We hardly saw Daniel while we were there, so we didn't feel like we were intruding, but he was always available to answer our questions; he seemed to enjoy having us to stay, providing cultural and historical insights to amsterdam.
So, thanks very much for having us to stay at your lovely home, Daniel. It was definitely a fantastic experience! -

On the way there is an albert Heijn Shop to get your daily needs for the kitchen. The apartment was very nice and comfortable with a living room, cable tv, dining table, a fully equipped kitchen with breakfast as well - a lovely spread of breads, jams, cheese, fruits, tea, coffee and some other stuff. Bedroom is cozy and comfortable. Overall, it was a very nice stay at the apartment and I would definitely recommend this to anyone travelling to amsterdam wants to be near the Station. The owner of the apartment also provided us some tips on sightseeing. Strongly recommended.

When you're planning a trip to amsterdam and you want to lower the cost, staying at Daniel's is the best alternative.
He's most kind as a host, let's you do your thing without asking much in return. The flexibility he has shown us was a big plus during our stay at amsterdam.
Not only is Daniel a great guy, the room he has for rent is a real beauty! A welcoming drink when you arrive, a little fridge in the room, towels, shampoo, soap, a nice warm bed, a big shower... even your slippers are waiting for you at your arrival! It's located in a nice and quiet environment, so after a busy day it's a super place to rest.
The bikes he has for rent come in handy as amsterdam is really a bike-city.
I can recommend @ Daniel's to anyone, no matter your age. I'm sure that if I return to amsterdam, I will stay @ Daniel's! -

My girlfriend and I stayed with Daniel for a week on vacation. His home is very clean kept, breakfast was wonderful and food accommodations were made upon request. Daniel is a kind and caring person. You can not walk away from a conversation without smiling. He was very helpful on navigating around town. He provided us with many maps and gave us the best routes for where we needed to go. He provided with bicycles that really gives you the opportunity to see amsterdam as a local. The bikes were a hit. The room was well set up and beds were comfortable. There was a cute view from the window. The evening we arrived, he directed us to a wonderful restaurant walking distance from his home. His home isn't walking distance to Central amsterdam, but was well worth the extra commute. There are bus stops near by and he provides bikes at an extra but convenient cost. Daniel made us feel safe and comfortable; we would definitely recommend it and stay again.

Daniel's apartment was perfect for my 5 days in amsterdam and was a great value. It is only 5 minutes away from the bus and is in a safe residential area. The area has public transports, restaurants, laundry, supermarket. The apartment was also very comfortable and very well-equipped. The kitchen, work desk, shower and bathroom were all very nice. It is well maintained, very clean, nicely decorated. The bed was really comfortable, the sheets were soft and fragrant. There were beautiful flowers, tea and hot water inside my room. He has an eye for everything, is friendly and very professional. Daniel arranged everything and advised me before the trip. His manager went well beyond to answer my daily questions, taught me how travel around the city, and was nearby most times or quickly responded to my messages. In short: go to amsterdam, rent Daniel's appartment and be happy.

Daniel has gone out of his way to make sure your stay in amsterdam is not wasted on trivialities. he keeps a very clean place and is genuinly concerned for your enjoyment ...he went the extra step of giving me a cell phone so i feltt like he acted as a personal concierge.
He is knowledgeable and just incredibly helpful with tram schedules and locations.. and even informed me of an impending tram strike. I would reccomend Daniel and his place to anyone.

The room is very clean and Daniel has taken care of every detail. There are fresh flowers!! wc and shower room are very clean, also puts you shampoo, conditioner, hair gel and body milk at your disposal !!!
I really enjoyed their fruit tees ...
the price is very good, truth (money) recommended.
The penalty is that is a little off center but the bus and tram you about 10 minutes from downtown, but Daniel explains perfectly how to reach you, you will not have lost! -

We had a wonderful stay @ Daniel's!
We arrived at Daniel's after a red-eye flight and he was able to accomodate our request for an early check in. The room was immaculate and provided the perfect refuge for us to rest up after a long flight and long days spent exploring the city. The room was warm and cozy and stocked with travel guides and recent issues of Time Out amsterdam, which proved extremely helpful as we planned out the rest of our stay.
Daniel was extremely accommodating and provided us with great tips for getting around the city and his restaurant recommendations provided a great way to experience amsterdam as a local would.
What a great experience!! Highly recommend!! -

As I said in the title, the room looks awesome, just like in the pictures, the only difference was the color of the sheets.
Beds are very comfortable, the breakfast is very good, I enjoyed it very much.
You can not smoke inside since the smell is not so great :) but you can totally smoke outside, on a terrace, Daniel has everything prepared.
Daniel is a great guy, providing jokes, maps and tips, so all you need you'll find for sure at his place!

Daniel was extremely helpful during our stay. He provided a map with highlighted directions to any of the attractions we wanted to see. And having his bicycles to use made getting around town extremely easy. One of the things I worry most about when traveling is finding a decent place to eat but Daniel was great and provided us with a list of restaurant recommendations and none of them disappointed.

We stayed with Daniel for 4nights back in June?July this year,I have had comp. problems so unable to send review earlier.
Our stay with Daniel was Excellent!!! He is a wonderful Host,he could not be more helpful & friendly towards us.
Daniel supplied maps, bikes (if U want),local information regarding festivals that were happening.
The location of Daniel:s place was indeed quite central, you are only 15 mins by bus to main City Centre, this was great because you felt as you were living as a local, there were plenty of places to eat locally only 5-10 mins walk, also you were able to return home by water taxi and walk 5mins.
after spending the day in amsterdam City.
Daniel:s home is comfortable &spotlessly; clean, his neighbours are also very friendly.
I would most definitely recommend a stay at Daniels place and we hope to return someday -

Daniel makes his guests feel completely welcome, he checks in to make sure you are having a great time and if you need anything further. He is always available by phone. The room is well appointed with maps and information to get you around the amsterdam seamlessly. The room is nicely decorated and very clean with a armoire for your clothes so you don't need to live out of your suitcase. I would definitely stay at Daniel's again. I had a great time.

Daniel's setup was very good. Like other reviewers have said before, he has a lot of nice little touches and everything is extremely well thought out in providing a seamless experience for his guests.
Daniel himself was really nice and accommodating. He helped me figure out all my public transportation needs, weather predictions and requests.
His place is clean and near lots of different tram lines, so you can get pretty much anywhere. Also he seems to work around your schedule in terms of cleaning the room and letting you use the shower, etc. So it's just really comfortable in that regard where you don't feel like you are imposing too much.
There are also some food options around his apartment to grab some food late at night which is always handy. Would definitely stay there agin. -

Daniel provided great accomodations for my trip to Holland. He sent me superb directions to his residence and was there when I arrived to greet me - even though the flight was late.
The room itself is spacious, clean, and comfortable. Bathroom is shared with Daniel but that's fine. Frankly, we hardly saw each other. (Each night I came in around 3, and that was no problem.)
My only concern up front was the location. But I think the location is perfect. It is close to the city center so a 10 - 15 bus/tram ride puts you anywhere. But it is far enough away so it is not loud. I would absolutely stay in that location again.
All in all, I would recommend Daniel without hesitation. -

Daniel is a great host. He is a very sweet and courteous person and he seems to truly enjoy hosting guests. His apartment is very tidy and clean and it's not often that you come across such a clean and well organized place (you would have to go 4 stars or higher!). He provides everything the guests could think of (or at least that I can think of): bikes, towels, shampoo, conditioner, shower cap, different maps, guides etc. and he will always be of service when information or recommendations are needed. Daniel is very easy to deal with and it was a pleasure to stay with him. Thank you Daniel.

Halifax, Nova ScotiaA genuinely kind and thoughtful host
Left on 07/26/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Daniel was a very considerate host, which stemmed not only from his personal warmness and generosity, but from his almost uncanny preparedness for practically any situation (you don't have slippers? He'll give you some. Forgot a raincoat? He's got some you can borrow. Need sight-seeing advice? He's ready to offer some - and some bicycles to boot).
His space is welcoming and meticulously cared for. We were given keys to the bikes and the apartment and were free to come and go as we pleased. Although the space is relatively small, it still felt private and homey. Daniel was excellent at providing everything we could want, without being intrusive. He prepared a wonderfully fresh and ample continental breakfast at the time of our choosing, as well. Everything was arranged in order to make our trip as easy and relaxing as possible.
The location was a bonus for us as well. We prefer to be outside of the tourist zone and downtown. Daniel's place provided the necessary "buffer" between us and the crowds downtown, while being an easy and enjoyable bike ride right to the thick of it (less than10 minutes to major sites).
We feel lucky to have met Daniel, and would recommend his B&B; to anyone. -

Boston, MAWonderful, clean, modern, comfortable rental in Amsterdam
Left on 07/23/2010 for a stay in July 2010
I stayed at this rental in Amsterdam with a friend while we traveled Europe after graduating from college. The place is fantastic and well managed. The owner, Daniel is incredibly professional and forward thinking providing a super clean and modern space for his guests.
Daniel takes great care of his guests, thinking of everything to help them not just stay in comfort but also experience the city with ease. Upon arrival, he gives you a tour of the accommodations and provides you with internet passwords, hand labeled maps of the city, keys and bikes! He even has brand new, nice rain jackets for his guests to use in case of rain and knows the city. He is always there to help, guide and answer all questions. Highly helpful, accommodating, intelligent and well traveled himself, I can't say enough good things about him as a person.
The bedroom has two comfortable twin beds, modern furniture, closet space, shelves, small table, bedside lamps, coffee machine, fresh towels tied with ribbon waiting on the beds, guidebooks to Amsterdam and transportation guides, and magazines. The bathroom is stocked with towels, soaps, shampoo, all toiletries and is incredibly clean!
After traveling Europe for two weeks and staying in over 6 different places, this was by far the most clean, comfortable, and unique.
The price is right and the only negative is that it is a bit far from the center of Amsterdam. He provides bikes and it is a 15-20 minute bike ride to Museum Plein and the Red-light District. But the busses run from the corner of his street and are easy to use. There are a lot of grocery stores and restaurants right near this place but you'll want to bike to the city in the morning and not come back until night.
I highly recommend this cozy and wonderful place to young friends/couples traveling to Amsterdam. If I ever return, I’ll definitely look to stay here again!

Menlo Park, CAAmsterdam friendly and clean neighborhood room
Left on 07/10/2010 for a stay in July 2010
Daniel was an exceptional host! I was primarily happy because of the following 3 characteristics:
1) Friendliness and knowledgeability of the host -- Along with my reservation I received very carefully laid out instructions to arrive at Daniel's doorstep and he was right there waiting for me when and where he said he would be. One evening Daniel invited me to drink a beer with him and he shared his personal story about arriving in amsterdam years ago and what attracted him to the city. We also spent time talking about the culture of Holland and how its position as a trading port influenced the ideals of the city. Daniel had good recommendations for how and when to see various tourist spots and had some alternative recommendations (local pools, bibliotech (library), etc...).
2) Cleanliness of the place -- Daniel's apartment is spotless. The particular room was very well cared-for and had all of the accessories needed.
3) All the "little extras" -- Daniel opened a fresh pair of slippers for me upon arrival. He also had a nicely laid out tea/coffee set in the room, 3 different tour books about amsterdam which helped me plan my days, a plastic map which I could carry throughout the adventures, a bicycle available to rent, matching set of shampoo/conditioner/lotion in the bathroom, etc... an adapter for my us plugs. Everything was well thought-out and Daniel gave a lot of attention to make sure that the visit was superb. -

Although not in the heart of the city it was a very clean and very quite environment. A two minute walk to the bus stop and from there a six to eight minute ride to the heart of the city. Pretty accessable. The room had two single beds placed apart. Prefered if they could be joined together when occupied by married couples. Also a couple of eggs either boiled or sunny-side-up with breakfast would be nice rather than having the same bread and jam/butter.

Daniel was very accomodating and friendly. It was a little pricey for what it was. The bed was smaller than a dormitory bed, and as a college student, I would know. The neighborhood seemed relatively safe but I did get hassled a few times outside of the apartment. Overall, I was impressed but I probably would stay closer to the city center in the future.

Philadelphia, PAFabulous Option in Amsterdam
Left on 06/19/2010 for a stay in June 2010
Our stay with Daniel was truly one of the highlights of mine and my partner's whirlwind European tour. Not only was the room smashingly decorated (a great example of modern Dutch living), spotlessly clean and serenely comfortable {think Zen), but having Daniel as a point of reference was our key to discovering the city. From the get-go he freely offered advice whenever we had questions about where to go or what to do in Amsterdam.
The room is located at quite a distance from the heart of the city, but we didn't find this hindering. We were able to get to the center in a snap with the two bikes Daniel has available for a minimal charge or via any of the train or bus stops located within a stones throw of his front door. There are plenty of restaurants, cafes and groceries in the area. And staying here is also a great way to see how the locals are living.
I would recommend Daniel's residence to anyone looking for a smart, affordable alternative to hotels or hostels. As a gay couple especially we found him extremely welcoming.
P.S. You can check my YouTube page for videos of our stay in Amsterdam, which includes a peek into the room: http://www.youtube.com/profile?user=justjoshfunk1 -

Daniel has been more then a great host: it was like having an home in amsterdam! If friendliness and kindness were not enough, the house was super clean and he provided all the things needed for our staying: maps, timetables, suggestions and tips, even bicycles! The location is easy to get to and from the station and the city center, 24h/24h connection, with a relaxing and serviced neighborhood. And don't worry, he speaks 5 languages if you mind having communication problems. Hope to find other guest like him in the future!
