Linaeus suite, an amsterdam oasis of calm
I stayed for the second time, during the christmas holiday's, with my 11 year old daughter in the Linaeussuite in amsterdam.
I was again pleased by the quiet location. Yet in the centre of amsterdam, with all its musea and attractions (and shops for my daughter) within reach.
The suite itself is very welcoming, warm, yet modern. It has a large roof terrace. I will visit it once in the summer, especially for this. New were the remote controls for the heating; adjustable per degree, per room. Speaking about sustainablity!
We enjoyed it once again. Well done Linaeussuite.

On a frequently base we visit the Linnaeussuite during our stays in amsterdam. Every time we are warmly welkomed by host Lidy Knol. The apartment is situated in a quit courtyard, near the tramstop to the city centre. The rooms are spacious and elegantly furnished. Great to unwind!
We feel very much at home.

Perfect and cosy appartement near amsterdam center
A very nice appartement in a calm and beautiful neighborhood.
The appartement itself was very clean and modern with excellent tastes in decoration. The roof terasse is a very special place to watch sunsets on amsterdam.
Lidy was a nice person and very welcoming.
The only point we feel could be better is the fact theire is no door to completely close the appartement. However the appartement is at the top floor and the owners seem to live in the other half of the building. We couldn't here them at any point.
We recommend this place to anyone who would like to spend a few days in amsterdam. Bikes are needed to get in the center in about 10min, or by Tram.
We will come again if we come back to amsterdam.

Perfect place to relax but just a bus ride from the excitement
Place perfectly described by owner who along with her son were very helpful. Not the place for anyone who cannot manage stairs. Our only regret is that we stayed for such a short time we were not able to read from her collection of books or even make a snack using her tiny but efficient "kitchenette". Bathroom modern and luxurious. Pub around the corner welcoming and the perfect place to have a drink on the way home after a day of exploring.

Great location out of the hustle & bustle of amsterdam
We enjoyed our stay at Linnaeussuite. Loved the location - easy walk to the tram that went straight into the centre. Very comfortable apartment with lovely bathroom and comfortable bed. Loved the Nespresso machine! Enjoyed morning walks in the beautiful park nearby and the ice-cream shop on the corner! The downside was the 3 narrow flights of stairs, the kitchen in a cupboard and the church bells that rang on the hour thru the night!

The service we had was very good, and the home was very nice. We thought the location to amsterdam was the best, and we have no bad experience with the stay.
I chose this accommodation after reading other, very positive, trip advisor reviews. It's rare to see a guest house with near universal acclaim but this is one of them and it is easy to see why.
The location is out of the hustle and bustle of central amsterdam which is nice if you want a quiet start to your day. The location is quiet and residential - with just the gentle church bells of the church across the road from the room to punctuate the quiet. In fact, the main bedroom overlooks the church.
Inside, the room has ample living space - it's like having your own one-bedroom flat in amsterdam with a big living area, wonderful modern and spacious bathroom, a balcony overlooking the rear of the property and gardens, even a roof deck for the ambitious (the stairs to the roof are not for the faint-hearted)! There is a small kitchen that you can use to prepare small meals and breakfast as well as Nespresso machine to help with your morning caffeine fix!
Lidy was great to communicate with and provided great instructions about where to eat and how to get around amsterdam from the room. I was attending a conference at the RaI conference centre that can be easily reached in just over 10 minutes via the 65 bus that leaves frequently from just a few streets away and stops right in front of the RaI.
There is also frequent tram service to the city centre and there are several interesting walks that can be taken.
Although I stayed here on business, I suspect I will be back with a more touristic agenda.
Anything bad? The only negative is that the entrance is up some very step, winding stairs that might put off some but was not an issue at all for me. Anyone accustomed to European townhouse living would not have an issue.

Fantastic weekend getaway
Arrived late Friday night due to delays, Mrs. Knol cheerfully waited up for us and even offered us dinner which we politely refused!
Location is beautiful, right by a nice park (with De Kas restaurant) and lots of cool little restaurants geared towards locals rather than tourists, but a short tram trip past the zoo into the centre of town.
The apartment itself was spacious, well decorated and beautiful, with a south facing balcony and sun room, and rooftop terrace that is spectacular on the mornings with good weather, paired best with the pre-stocked kitchenette (Nespresso capsules and heinekens).
All-in-all, I was very content with the decision to stay at Linnaeussuite.

We stayed at Linneaussuite for 3 nights in June 2013, and had a really lovely time there. The apartment is well appointed with a large lounge, bedroom and luxury bathroom, along with a small pantry (including a sink, microwave and fridge). The tram stop is just outside the flat so very easy to get in and out of central amsterdam. Lidy is very helpfull and friendyl. Highly recommended! It was the best accommodation what we were someplace. Thank you!
Lovely little apartment
We really liked this place, it is a bit off-center so it's quiet, but still it's close to everything by bike or tram.
The apartment is decorated with gusto, and was equipped with everything we needed - along with a fantastic ice-cream shop around the corner. A small kitchen is ok for breakfast or a small meal, the living room is spacious and bright, and there is a nice spot on the balcony, as well as at the roof, for the sunny days.
The bedroom is also spacious, with a view to the church. Finally, the bathroom is very big, clean and recently renovated, including all the latest trends in design :)
Lidy was very helpful, and she made us feel welcomed.
Only negative is the amount of stairs one needs to go up, but that is the case almost everywhere, so I would not recommend this place to people with mobility problems.
We'll be coming back! :)

Quiet, great place to stay, totally recommend it.
Easily accessible by tram and tucked away in a quiet corner near great walking and recreation parks. Handy to supermarket, and very much our most favourite B&B; in our travels in Europe and UK. Good little coffee machine, and we were able to cook for ourselves. Far enough from the Centre to avoid crowds, and close enough to get to the Rijksmuseum and other attractions with ease on a tram. Warning, the flower market was great to see but we got sold dud post card stamps at a card shop (stamps no longer valid but as a tourist who knows what the stamps are supposed to look like? We wondered why the numbers didn't add up to what we were charged.) Lidy checked the stamps on line and bought new replacement stamps and gave them to us. That was such a wonderful gesture. The apartment was just lovely.

Very cosy apartment
We stayed 4 days in this wonderful apartment. It has an excellent location close both to parks and trams and several useful shops.
The breakfast was restricted to coffe and tea and when the outside temperature was low, there was a bit chilly also indoors. We recommend it!
Clean, spacious and beautiful location in amsterdam
Lidy was a wonderful and helpful hostess. The apartment was clean and the bathroom was wonderfully modern with a great jetted, deep tub. The rooftop terrace was a sweet addition to all the space. The bed was very comfortable. Located in a great neighborhood in amsterdam not far from trams and public transportation. Loved it!

A reason for not recommending this place
The only reason I can find for not recommending the Linneaeussuite is this: it might be booked the next time I want to visit amsterdam and enjoy a quiet, clean, comfortable, imaginatively decorated, well-connected, place to stay, run by kind, discrete and helpful people..
What I liked least? The inevitable Dutch stairs...
After staying serveral times in this guesthouse I can say it's one of the best I've been to. The location is quiet, but the connection to the centre of a'dam is good. There is plenty of space for 2 persons. There is a luxury bathroom and living.
We had a very relaxing 3 night visit. The apartment has everything you need, its warm and comfortable. The neighbourhood is an easy tram ride from the city centre and has an interesting range of local independent shops.
The cycle hire is great and they will do a half day hire if a full day is too much for you. It's a fairly stress free way to get about once you get the hang of following the person in front of you.
Thoroughly recommend and would not hesitate to stay again. All communication with Lidy has been 1st class, emails returned promptly and full / clear instructions supplied. 10/10

Amsterdam at his best
Very pleasant stay in this spacious and stylish apartment with balcony , roof terrace and 5 star bathroom, comfortable bed, we slept like babies!
Situated on one of the nicest squares in the trendy neighbourhood of Watergraafsmeer with plenty of good restaurants and shops within walking distance and easy access to city centre. Very warm welcome by the owner Lidy who is always available to help you out! We will certainly come back!
We are a young couple who were looking for something cosy and different to a common hotel. Linnaeussuite met all our expectations, as well as the owners.
Not only it is very good located and everything is in perfect condition, we also felt like at home thanks to Lidy and her husband who tried to make out of our days in amsterdam worth another visit.
It's the second time my partner and I have stayed in this apartment and I would recommend to anybody! Fantastic location, out of the hustle and bustle of the centre but super close to a tram which only takes 15 mins to get to central station! Perfect

We loved our stay at Linnaeussuite. The location was perfect in that it was far enough from the city center that we could relax in quiet privacy after a long day of walking the beautiful city of amsterdam yet only a short tram ride from anywhere in the city. The view out of the bedroom window is spectacular and very romantic. Lidy was the perfect host allowing us privacy while ensuring that we had everything we needed. The bed and the bath was were both 4-star hotel quality. The charming neighborhood offered wonderful small shops and everybody we met coud not have been nicer or more helpful. I would enthusiastically recommend this apartment to anyone planning to visit amsterdam.

wonderful sanctuary, but bring ear plugs for church bells
Loved the location, the bed, the bath and (most of all) the espresso maker! The apartment is right across the street from a beautiful old church and the bells go off on the hour and half hour. One of us found it charming and as Lidy said, "comforting". The other one of us found it hard to sleep. Lidy does supply earplugs, but we didn't find out until the end of our stay.
I would definitely stay at Linnaeussuite again and again when we visit relatives in amsterdam. Great restaurants nearby and good options for getting downtown.
Linens and towels were superb and bed was extremely comfortable. It was wonderful having a tiny kitchenette with microwave and fridge, along with a divine Nespresso maker. Best coffee we've ever had!
Do book with Lidy; you'll love her home! Read more

I'm sorry one of you had problems with the church bells. It’s for the first time in 4 years someone did. If you check the reviews, you'll notice most of our guests don’t hear the bells at all. I’m happy to hear that you had a great time at the Linnaeussuite anyway. And we would love to have you again as our guests!

Lidy and Rene were wonderful hosts during our stay in the apartment connected to their home. Accommodations were very comfortable and spacious with living room/dining area and with access to porch. They took time to explain things to us and had many good suggestions for enjoying a most wonderful city that is amsterdam. Would definitely return at a future date and encourage our fiends to stay there. Home is easily accessed by tram from main RR station and just minutes away from most tourist sites.Thank you Liby and Rene.
Very pleasent stay in a truly beautyful neighbourhood. Very good connection with public transport. Nice host!
Welcoming, comfortable and very clean
Lidy is a wonderful host. We had arrived after a 36 hour journey from australia without luggage which was lost. Lidy was very kind to lend us some clothes and stayed home to receive the luggage when it eventually arrived.
The apartment is very clean and modern, comfortable bed, beautiful new spacious bathroom and a nice balcony. The only minus are the stairs which are very steep so you need to be fit. Lidy also provides good information about what to do around the city. The position of the unit is just around the corner from the tram which takes you directly into the city in around 15 minutes. There is also a good supermarket and restaurant close by. Try the pork ribs!
I highly recommend this apartment.

Every B&B; should be like Linnaeussuite!!
Wow we were impressed. Where does one start. Linnaeussuite photos don't reveal how nice this place was. Presentation was so clean, spacious and very welcoming. Could not fault this accommodation. Our Host was imformative, polite, helpful, and although occupied the two lower floors was very descreet. Yes the stairs to the top floor were a challenge but even with my dodgy knee complaint I managed just fine taking my time. The sundeck on the roof was a little more awkward but once there enjoyed having a wine in the evening while taking in the view. The very comfortable large bed was just what we needed after a few earlier rough nights. Not to mention the huge bathtub and dimmer lights to enjoy a soak. The attention to detail, the information at hand and the added luxuries were exceptional. Location was perfect. Restuarants, laundromat, supermarket, trams were all within very short walking distances. Had amsterdam been our last stop on our holiday we would of extended our stay but alas we still had four more weeks in Europe. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and on our next trip back to Europe will be staying here... longer.
Seven days in picturesque amsterdam
Wish to thank you for your kind hospitality, our stay at Linnaeussuite was truly memorable. The flat was simply great. Comfy bed, spacious living dining area, a generous bath to unwind after a long walking day and the roof terrace enhanced our experience of the place. We truly enjoyed the lively neighbourhood, local restaurants and cafés, being close to the historic center but still just far enough to appreciate a quiet night sleep. Wish you well.

My Dream Home...
Everything about the apartment is perfect!!!
From the moment we arrived (greeted with a bottle of Precessco) until the very last minute we had in this apartment, my partner and I had the best time.
The apartment is so well furnished from the bed, long enough for my 6Ft4" boyfriend and so cushy it makes you feel as though you are sleeing on clouds, to the soft couch in the living room with a bear like blanket for comfort. The bathroom was to die for, a huge over head shower and a bath tub you can swim in.
Lidy has included a little kitchenette, brilliant for storing provisions for breakfast in the morning for you to enjoy on the balcony. And the roof garden was a joy for catching the afternoon sunshine.
The location of the apartment is excellent, for trips into the centre of amsterdam, it takes 15mins. Very close to local ammenites and a large park.
We loved this apartment so much that we plan to revisit in September.
Have no doubt this apartment will make your trip to amsterdam a dream.
Beautiful apartment, great convenience, and a lovely host.
We opted to rent a short-term apartment, as we were in amsterdam for a couple of weeks - it was an excellent choice. Although on a map the apartment doesn't look like it's in the heart of the city, the transit is really excellent - a two-minute walk from apartment to tram stop, and a very fast, 7-minute tram to Dam Square. Having a tranquil neighbourhood to come back to at the end of a long day of sightseeing is a great advantage.
Lidy was a lovely host - we had lots of privacy, but she was always available when we needed her. The apartment is great, and very roomy for two people. It has all the amenities - and a really great bathroom!
I will be recommending to all friends and family who travel to amsterdam in future, to stay here. Hotels cannot beat the comfort and value of Linnaeussuite.
This is a delightful spacious apartment. The location is perfect with easy access to public transport to the centre of amsterdam - for the adventurous you can walk there. Everything we could possibly want was either provided (or - for food & alcohol provisions, able to be purchased within minutes). The apartment was spotless, quiet and extremely comfortable. Much clear & helpful written local information was supplied. It seems to be a happy neighbourhood - friendly and helpful.
Lidy was very kind, had plenty of resources and good to know info in a laminated book for us, and the rooms were amazing. Plenty of space with a very nice bathroom. I wish we could have stayed longer, and if we visit amsterdam again we're definitely staying here!
There were a steep set of stairs to get up to the third floor so i wouldn't recommend this to older or disabled travelers. Read more
Response from Lidy Knol - 04/23/2012
Thank you for your positive review!
With the steep set of stairs I think you mean the ones leading to the roof garden? They are a bit steep indeed, like most stairs leading to a roof in Amsterdam. However the stairs leading to the apartment are all comfortable, easy going stairs. Non of our older guests had a problem with them.

Wij waren blij verrast over het confort, de inrichting en de ruimte die de accomodatie biedt.
De Suite oogt fris en het bed was heel erg confortabel. De badkamer, met heerlijke doche en leuke inrichting waren de kers op de taart.
this guesthouse gets a perfect score from our family.
The linnaeusuite could not have been better. The apartment is immaculate, beautifully decorated and in an ideal location on a quiet square - a welcome refuge the madding crowds of amsterdam but just a short 15 minute tram ride from the city center, Our hosts were always on hand, quick to respond to any inquiries and gave us detailed information about restaurants, bike rentals and other services in the neighbourhood. There is a supermarket just around the corner and the guesthouse is a short five-minute walk from the tram stop. The ample supply of Nespresso coffee and a bottle of prosecco on arrival were much appreciated details. We will definitely recommend this guiesthouse to friends visiting amsteram.

Great place to stay with serenity
It is a lovely and spacious place to stay in. Lidy (the owner) has keep up the place very nicely. And it really gave us a home feel while we stay there. Although there is not really a kitchen, but there is coffee machine, microwave and kettle for us to enjoy a tea time and breakfast.
Distance walking from the tram is not too far away, takes us about 12 mins with big luggages. And thanks to Lidy to have her son in helping us moving the luggage up to 3rd floor, cause our daughter's suit case is quite big and heavy. And we were a bit exhausted after travel a long way from asia and arriving late.
The church bell does woke us up early in the morning, and if you are not a deep sleeper, then you may find it disturbing, but we are ok about it.
This place is awesome.
We visited amsterdam for a long weekend recently. As we booked relatively late we were faced with a choice between grotty, overpriced, city centre hostels, or with booking something slightly more expensive and slightly further out. It turns out that you really get what you pay for.
From the moment we booked the Linnaeussuite we knew we'd made the right decision. It was cheaper than other guesthouses we looked at, and we really got value for money. Lidy was really helpful, emailing detailed instructions on the best ways to get there, and she proved to be an excellent, welcoming host. Like all good guesthouse owners, she gives you everything you'll need to have a nice time, but then stays out of your way unless required.
The guesthouse is situated in a really pleasant part of the city, with some great cafes, bars and restaurants - particularly the French restaurant nearby, where I had one of the best meals I've ever eaten. It's not as close to the centre as perhaps we'd have liked, but we either rented bicycles or got the tram, so it didn't make much difference. In fact, it was really nice to go back to somewhere quiet at the end of a busy day / night out. If you're heading back to the airport at the end of your stay there's a regular bus about 5 minutes walk from the Linnaeussuite that takes you right to the terminal - starting from around 6am.
The accommodation itself is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, particularly the bathroom. In fact, since we got home we've been motivated into improving our own flat - it'd be wonderful to live somewhere as nice as Linnaeussuite. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the kitchen area (provided you don't need an oven) gave us all we needed, and the street it's situated on is quiet and really pretty.
In short, you should book here. It's awesome.

Wonderful experience at Linnaeussuite
My boyfriend and I stayed at Lidy's for one week earlier this month and we loved it! The apartment is a little bit outside of the city center, but only a 10 minute tram ride to the center. Perfect location, as it allowed us to return to a quiet neighborhood setting after our long days. I was a little worried about the previous reviews that I read citing the church bells being an issue (the apartment is on a quiet street and right across from a church). So, we brought earplugs and got ready for sleepless nights. We never heard a thing! We did hear the bells once, on Sunday morning at the start of mass, but that's to be expected. Lidy is a wonderful hostess and her husband Rene was great as well. They were really helpful with restaurant recommendations, and other information that we needed. Yes, there are quite a few stairs to get to the top floor, but that's amsterdam. The apartment is beautiful, quiet, and was a great place to return to every night. No need to stay in a hotel the next time we go to amsterdam. We will surely stay at Linnaeussuite. I highly recommend it.

The best place we have stayed in amsterdam
We arrived very early from australia and Lidy welcomed us in for a cup of coffee. We talked for a while and left our bags to return after lunch. It was a beautiful apartment and so stylish.
We loved sitting in the gorgeous armchairs in the bedroom in the evening (summer), the windows open and having a glass of wine. Every hour the church bell chimed and just added to the magic.
Close to supermarkets, restaurants, cafés, transport, parks, everything. We prepared breakfast and dinner in the 'kitchen-in-a-cupboard each day as we were so comfortable there.
Whenever we have to travel to amsterdam again, this will definitely be the first on our list. The stairs are very steep, typical of the houses in amsterdam, so be prepared as there are 2 flights up.

Cosy and comfortable in amsterdam !!
Very friendly welcome. Comfortable, modern and clean rooms. Neat and well organized kitchenette - with everything to hand for a self-catering city break.
Close to shops, trams and small restaurants/cafes.
Quiet location - apart from church bells opposite the property...
Good location but not central. It takes about 20 minutes by tram to the centre of amsterdam and is expensive - at 2.60 Euros per person for a single trip.
Fantastic apartment with a lovely host.
My boyfriend and I stayed at the Linaeussuite for our anniversary, and it was the perfect accommodation for our trip to amsterdam.
The apartment was stunning - wonderfully decorated and very modern, with a beautiful roof terrace, additional balcony, modern living room, small kitchenette (with a very nice Nespresso coffee machine!) big bathroom with luxurious bath and shower, and a lovely bedroom with a very comfortable bed. The apartment is located in the Oost, which is a good distance from central amsterdam, and a very nice area - there are some very nice cafes, bars and restaurants in the area, as well as the Oosterpark which is 2 minutes from the apartment. We ate at both Elsa's cafe, Koffie in the Oost, and De Kas (which is located in a greenhouse in the park and is a very luxurious place to eat) and enjoyed them all very much.
The no. 9 tram takes you straight into central amsterdam within 10 minutes, but my boyfriend and I were very happy to be staying away from the touristy areas - it was nice to be able to explore the busy centre all day but return to a more peaceful part of the city - filled with locals.
Lidy was a great host - very welcoming and helpful - she provided us with lots of helpful information when we arrived, recommending great places to eat and drink in the area, and even leaving us a lovely bottle of prosecco in the fridge!
Our stay in amsterdam was fantastic because of our stay at the Linaeussuite! I would definitely recommend it to anyone!
Phenomenally well designed luxury space
The apartment was located in a cute quite courtyard of a church. The space was incredibly clean, and exquisitely designed and furnished. The bathroom was straight out of an Italian design house - we definitely took advantage of the over-sized tub and the bottle of prosecco left for us. Coffee on the deck, and breakfast on the roof was wonderful. My wife and I really like to cook, so the kitchenette was a bit limiting. Overall we will be back to stay again, and a definite recommendation.
Fantastic, modern and spacious apartment in amsterdam!
We stayed at Linneaussuite for 4 nights in May 2011, and had a really lovely time there. The apartment is well appointed with a large lounge, bedroom and luxury bathroom, along with a small pantry (including a sink, microwave and fridge). We really enjoyed relaxing on the roof terrace with a glass of wine after a days' sightseeing. The tram stop is just outside the flat so very easy to get in and out of central amsterdam. Highly recommended!
Cool and comfortable
My husband and I spent a truly lovely time (his birthday) at Lidy's very comfortable apartment. Lidy was a gracious, friendly and helpful host. The apartment was very elegant, stylish and comfortable with good amenities (lovely big bath for a good soak with champagne at the end of a day!). The area is hip and ecelectic with some great eating places close by and only a short bike ride into town if needed.
The flat is comfortably furnished. The location is a 10 minute tram ride from downtown which is a benefit as downtown can be noisy and crowded. The neighborhood has terrific restaurants. The trams stop is 2 mins. away. Lidy's flat is absolutely lovely. We stayed a week and enjoyed it more each day. This is no hotel in amsterdam that can compare to this flat.
Perfect in every way
Close to public transportation and in a quiet neighborhood. Owner helpful in getting information. Felt like we actually lived in amsterdam

nice experience, very clean easy and friendly people.
highly recommended by us.
very pleasant and comfortable
we had a very nice stay. The location is very pleasant, easy to access, and the view is picturesque.
Just a small reproach : it is a bit expensive.
Really confortable. Don't forget to sneak on the roof-terrasse.
Wonderful Honeymoon Stay at Linnaeussuite
My husband and I stayed at Linnaeussuite in the beginning of September as part of our honeymoon. We had an amazing stay and highly recommend the apartment for anyone looking for a nice, quiet stay close to all the action of the town center.
The house is in a lovely, quiet residential area not far from Dam Square and all of the hustle and bustle of the downtown area. The No. 9 tram is about a 2 min walk from the front door of the house, and it's only a 10-15 min tram ride to Dam Square and Central Station. On the way to the tram stop is a lovely little restaurant called Elsa's Cafe. We had great food and quite a few amstels in this little place.
The apartment was immaculately cleaned, modern and comfortable. There is an amazing bathroom with a giant bathtub, which was nice to relax in after a long day. The rooftop terrace was very nice to enjoy coffee in the mornings, or to have a glass of wine at the end of the day - though the steps up to the roof are quite steep and narrow. The king sized bed in our room was so comfy we didn't want to get up in the mornings. All of the linens were good quality and clean. The pantry area was small, but well-stocked with everything besides an oven.
Lidy was very kind and helpful. She left a nice bottle of champagne and snacks at our arrival. She was very helpful about pointing out how to get around town by bus and tram - where to get the tram, how to pay, where to connect to other trams, etc. She also pointed out many restaurants in the area, nearby supermarkets, etc.
We very much enjoyed our time in amsterdam and our stay at Linnaeussuite. The next time we visit, we will most certainly return to Linnaeussuite.
My husband and I stayed at the Linnaeussuite just at the start of august. If your travelling to amsterdam I would totally recommend a stay at the Linnaeussuite. On arrival we were met by Liddy, the owner. Such a lovely lady, very welcoming. The apartment was fantastic, clean, spacious, stylish and very home, the balcony and roof garden were added and much loved bonus. We had a few mornings where the weather was not great, so it was very nice just to relax about the apartment drinking coffee, eating toasted sandwiches; making use of the pantry. We will be making this our first choice to stay for any future trips back to the dam.
Topadresje in A'dam!
Very comfortable, quiet apartment with everything we needed.
We stayed for three nights in late July. Our hosts were very pleasant and helpful and left us a lovely bottle of wine. The apartment was in a quiet residential area which was lovely to come back to after the busy city. It was very clean and comfortable with modern furnishings, a huge soft bed, a nice lounge for relaxing, a lovely bathroom and a very small but useful kitchen area. The terrace and roof terrace were lovely for sitting out. There is a supermarket very near and several places to eat. The tram stop is very close and trams are frequent. We would definitely stay here again, despite a few ants which visited the lounge area on the last night - I'm sure they will have been speedily disposed of the next morning after we left!
First Class accommodation in lovely part of amsterdam
We stayed for 5 nights in this delightful apartment which I would have no hesitation in recommending and using again myself. It is such an easy tramride into Dam Square and Central Station (No 9). The neighbourhood has great pubs and restaurants, and the roof terrace (up a steep ladder but with lots of rails to grip) is just the place for a quick sunbathe if weather permits.

A Great Place to Stay
We enjoyed our stay in Ms Knol's apartment in amsterdam. It was convenient for shopping and very close to a bus stop for sight-seeing. The apartment was clean and comfortable and Lidy was waiting to check us in at the designated time and assist us with our luggage. I would definitely stay here again.

Our Happy Place
We loved our stay at the Linneaussuite. We were so comfortable and relaxed. The whole apartment was perfect, from the king size bed to the spa bathroom to the rooftop patio. The suite is located in the most peaceful of surroundings, highlighted by the ringing of the church bells on the hour. This was a little piece of heaven, romantic and rejuvenating, thank-you Lidy.
I'd like to say that we just returned a few days ago and we still miss having our coffee on the sunny terrace or going for a walk around the city. the suite is very nice and comfterble it has everything you might need. after a long day of sight seen and walking it was nice to take a bath... we are both very happy with our choice and we hope to return one day. I hope you enjoy amsterdam and have a great stay at Linnaeussuite.
If only everywhere could be like this...
Lovely location, spotlessly clean, very stylish and extremely helpful. It's all you need for a city break. Two points worth knowing - firstly that the stairs (especially up to the roof terrace) - are really very steep indeed. There is also a church tower which announces every hour at length throughout the night. On a hot night, with windows open, we needed earplugs.

Very nice place
We just loved our prolonged weekend in amsterdam and our stay in Linnaeussuite. The appartment was clean, cosy and furnished with good taste. The bed and bathroom were excellent. The location out of the rush of the city center and still easy to reach by tram was just perfect for us.
Big thank to Lidy. She is a very nice person and everything was so well organised by her. She gave us good tips on restaurants, museums etc and made our stay in amsterdam unforgettable.

Under the sky of amsterdam
Romantic... Just go upstairs to the roof! Enjoy the sky, the wind, the clouds, the sound of street or whatever you like. Sit down near your special one and feel that amsterdam is around you.

lidy and her husband were incredible! they were very welcoming and informative when it comes to their city. the apartment is spotless and the rooftop terrace is awsome. the neighborhood was well kept, clean and very safe.
Wonderful apartment in a wonderful neighborhood!

Amsterdam - home sweet home
We loved Amsterdam because of Lidy's vacation home - Linnaeussuite. The
place was exactly as pictured, if not better. One can tell that Lidy takes care
of her vacation home.
Linnaeussuite was located in a great area (right across from a church), a
very lovely park, and great places to eat suggested by Lidy. We loved Elsa's
Cafe - we felt like one of the locals and not a tourist. We also loved De Kas,
with its fixed menu, most of the ingredients locally grown, service was
spectacular, and friendly people. De Kas and another restaurant are located
at the park, and we ate at both places though I forgot the name.
I have to say that upon our arrival (we arrived at Central Station), we were
initially disappointed at Amsterdam - too many people, the station too
small for the amount of foot traffic, work being completed, and again too
many people. Linnaeussuite and Rene and Lidy's hospitality made us enjoy
Amsterdam. We are so glad that we stayed at Linnaeussuite!
Our two night stay at Linnaeussuite was very pleasant. Lidy is a wonderful warm host and makes you feel very welcome. The accomodations were very comfortable and we especially liked the fact that it is a quiet neighborhood with a lovely park and several EXCELLENT restaurants within a 5 minute walk.
A lovely plae in a great neighborhood
We easily got to the town home which is just outside of Amsterdam central. We were impressed by the beautiful church and the cul-de-sac the home was situated on.
The rooms were spacious, spotless and the bed was WONDERFUL. Great bathroom, cute kitchenette and Lidy and her husband were gracious and helpful. There were 3 great restaurants (1 casual and 2 very nicely upscale) within 5 minutes walk

Having had a marvellous time!
We found a comfortable vacation home with everything we needed. The rooms are elegant and appropriate equipped, a balcony and a roof garden invites to enjoy the view over the roofs of the town. Though there is a tramway and a big street nearby it is very quiet. The tramway makes it easy to get into the town centre, a park, a supermarket and pubs nearby make the environment pleasant.

Perfection in Quiet Part of Amsterdam
We loved this cozy and stylishly furnished apartment in Amsterdam. It was a quick tram or bike ride to the center of town but blissfully quiet at night with very conveniently located local shops, pubs, internet cafe, a nice park and tram stop. Our hosts were very friendly, helpful and accomodating and the view from the roof and bedroom windows dramatic! We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay.
Very nice and calm stay at Linnaeussuite!
I really enjoyed the 2 nights I spent in Amsterdam at the Linnaeussuite.
Lidy Knol is a very nice and welcoming person.
I first enjoyed the sun on the flat roof. The bedroom is very comfortable. The whole suite is clean and design.
I also really appreciated the location: 15 minutes from down town in a very quiet district, close to a lovely church and to a park.
The narrow houses of the courtyard where Linnaeussuite is located are typically Dutch. It is a very good place for a romantic trip!

A beautiful, comfortable and spacious pearl close by the centre
The Linnaeus suite is a very comfortable and picturesque place to stay. We
were surprised by the spacious rooms - sleeping room and living room - in a
very tasteful and modern design. Comfortable bathroom and a handy small
The very kind owners paid a lot of attention to the design of the apartment.
Above that, it is very clean, fresh and new.
Nice neighbourhood with good restaurants and shops within walking distance.
By tram it is only 15 minutes to the heart of the city.
Splendid base for your trip to Amsterdam: safe, quiet, comfortable and typical
We hebben in de linnaeus suite een heerlijke huwelijksnacht gehad. Alles was goed geregeld en van hoge kwaliteit.: De accommodatie, de service, het ontbijt. Ook de ontvangst was erg vriendelijk.
I totally recommend this to anyone!
I loved this place. It is right in front of church and very quiet and peaceful and romantic. Supermarket is 3 minutes away from the house and there is reasonable priced restaurants and very excuisite restaurants both in the same area. Tram station is 2 minutes from the house and it is so easy to get to the entertainment areas of Amsterdam.
Lidy (the owner of this house) and her Son Rim helped us carry our luggage and gave us detail directions to go anywhere I wanted. She would print me time tables and maps with her translation added to them. She was wonderful.
Interior of this place is just amazing. She's got a great taste. There was evne a tiny kitchen inside of a little closet! It was cute yet very functional. There is no stove, so you cannot really cook, but microwave, nespresso machine, hotwater boiler, a little fridge.
She left a bottle of Procecco for us and it was very tasty. She also left more than enough nespresso refills for us to have coffee everyday. Also Earl Grey Tea bags.
This was my first time in Europe and I am glad I choose this place. I was able to experience residential feel and see how peoples everyday life
is like. Not only the party part of Amsterdam.
Thank you so much Lidy! I will definetly come back and will recommend this place to anybody!!
Very cosy and elegant place to stay in Amsterdam. Spotless clean. The owner is extremely nice. With tram or bike you are in about fifeteen minutes in the city center. It has a kitchen-in-a-cupboard where you can prepare breakfast, coffee, and the like. Big balcony with a view to a huge and nice inner courtyard. On the other side of the place, big windows with a view to a beautiful church. It's perfect, really.
A little slice of luxury
Fantastic apartment that was even better than it looked in the photos. It was perfect for us as it is located on a quiet residential street and is modern, stylish, clean and very comfortable. The apartment is situated about 20 minutes from central Amsterdam on the number 9 tram route which also stops at (or near to) a number of the key places of interest. There are a number of very good bars and restaurants near the apartment too if you want to eat close to home any night and a good supermarket and bakery around the corner for breakfast stuff too. We’ll definitely be back and would highly recommend this to anyone visiting Amsterdam – perfect if you don’t mind climbing some Amseterdam style stairs to the attic apartment!
One word: wonderful!
In total we have stayed here 2 weeks, where we have received the great service
and hospitality of Lidy. Living on the top floor of the house gives you very
The apartment itself is modern, comfortable and nicely decorated. And the
bathroom is absolutely gorgious!!! A great bathtube for TWO. ;-)
If there was one thing less, it would have been the 'kitchenette'. Even though
well placed in a closet for a more long term stay, you might like to cook
yourself more conveniently.
But again, our stay was in one word: wonderful!!!
We stayed at Linnaeusuite for one night recently. The
were very welcoming and made it easy for us to settle in.
place is beautiful. The furnishings are lovely. The
is amazing. The bed is quite comfortable. Overall, I would
give it a great review. One note to those not familiar with
geography of Amsterdam. This location is outside of the
central part of the city and requires public transportation to
get to most of the museums and places of interest. If
stepping out of your door in to the city is most important
than this is not a good choice, but if you want a beautiful
retreat than I would recommend it.
little gem in great neighborhood
Wonderful little gem in Amsterdam. Far enough from the center to feel that
you are experiencing the real Amsterdam with more natives than tourists, and
close enough that you can take advantage of everything the city has to offer.
Great transit. The guesthouse itself is as beautiful and clean as the pictures
show. Fantastic terrace uptop and great view on the church. Our hosts were
very discreet and extremely helpful when we needed help and information. A
perfect mix ! I highly recommend Linnaeussuite.

What a delightful place to stay! Myself and a colleague spent 12 days in Amsterdam, and this was the perfect location for us. Easy to get into town central and out to the university, yet tucked into a lovely, quiet neighbourhood that was very comfortable to walk around in. This turned out to be the ideal home-away-from-home for our stay. The suite itself is beautiful and very comfortable, and our host, Lidy, was very helpful and accomodating to our every question or need. The amenities in the suite are lovely, everything from the remarkably comfortable bed to the shower and the heavenly coffee machine. I would most definitely stay at Linnaeussuite again, without hesitation!
Special venue - wonderful host!
Unfortunately I could only stay for one night. Otherwise I would have enjoyed ALL the good stuff: a long 'rain'shower, an hour or so in a beautifull bath, watching one of the great DVD's while lying on a modern white leather sofa, stayed up late under a starry Amsterdam sky on the roof terrace drinking a fresh brewed cup of Nespresso-coffee, spent more time with the wonderful & interesting hosts (Lidy, Rene and Rim), rented a bike to roam the streets like a true citizin of Amsterdam etc. etc. Go there and enjoy the place and the people (and Amsterdam too of course)!

A perfect home away from home
We enjoyed our stay at Lidy's guesthouse. Everything was exactly as shown on the website. It's clear that Lidy has paid attention to every detail to make sure that guests are comfortable: very clean, helpful books and information about Amsterdam, delicious Nespresso coffee to help start the day... We would certainly stay there again if we ever go back to Amsterdam.
very nice apartment not far from the centre
To book this aparment, everything can easily be organizied by email. The
owner answers very fast. We told them what time we were planning to arrive
and someone was waiting for us to give us the key and show us the
The apartment is furnished in a very nice and also very modern way. You
can find whatever you might need. For example, there is a small kitchen
equiped with a Nespresso coffee maker, microwave, dishes, a small
refrigerator, towels, a water boiler and many other things. There is a TV
with a DVD player and a radio. You can find a selection of DVDs there also
and lots of Amsterdam guides, maps and broschures. The bathroom is also
very modern. We especially enjoyed a hot bath after a long day walking.
Parking is very expensive in that area. We took our car to a park and ride
and took the Tram for the rest of our trip. The next tram station is a 2
minute walk away. The tram takes about 10 ninutes to the centre and leaves
every 15 minutes I think. This was a lot cheaper than parking there all day
and it was no problem at all. Many stores and supermakets can be found in
walking distance (2 to 5 minutes). If we had any questions we were welcome
to ask the owner.
We enjoyed our stay there very much and would stay there again. The price
is definitely adequate for what you get there and we thought that it was a
lot better than any hotel.
A gem in the city of diamonds
We chose Linnaeussuite for one reason: it was close to our friends' house, and they don't have room for house guests. Yes, it looks very nice on the website, but the pictures only hint at what a treat it is to stay there.
The suite, which has its own private entrance, is on the third floor of a traditional Dutch house situated in a picturesque and peaceful urban oasis, Linnaeushof, behind a beautiful church. Don't worry, the bells do not chime at night! From the suite, climb a set of ladder-steps and you have your very own roof garden with a breathtaking view. The suite itself consists of a stylish, comfortable sitting room with tv and stereo, a bedroom with a heavenly bed, a super-chic bathroom and a handy little bijou kitchenette with fridge, microwave, and superb espresso machine.
The location is ideal for visitors to Amsterdam. Around the corner, a block away, is a commercial district with neighbourhood cafes and great necessities shopping. Supermarkets, HEMA, specialty shops -- it's all right there. The Number 9 tram's there too, and within minutes you can be visiting the tourist sights with the throngs in the heart of the city, to return later to your peaceful hideaway.
The proprietor, Lidy, is welcoming and very helpful. There were some new-equipment problems while we were there, but Lidy resolved the issue to our satisfaction.
One word of caution: the suite is up three steep flights of stairs. It wasn't a problem for me, even with my two prosthetic knees, but it could be an issue for some, especially those with a lot of cumbersome luggage.
Would we stay at Linnaeussuite again? Absolutely -- even if our friends lived on the other side of the city!
Very pleasant and quite satisfactory.
Our host and hostess were very welcoming. They were available to tend to all of our needs. The apartment was in a charming neighborhood and convenient to the tram. The tram ride to Central station was about 20 minutes. My favorites things were: the comfortable bed, the luxurious bathroom, the flower-filled roof-top terrace and the expresso machine.
A stay in Amsterdam....
Great vacation at the Linnaeussuite
My stay by Lidy Knol at the Linnaeussuite was from A to Z perfect...the little suite had everthings I needed , perfect bedroom , nice livingroom with TV and a little beauty the nice balcony..
I was very comfortable and highly recommand this guest house... it is sure that my next vacation will be there too....
Mrs.Knol was very friendly and also I appreciated her help in many way.... Great thanks again ... Annalise Nohrudi Tennessee USA
luxerious design appartment
We had the chance to stay in this wonderful appartment for 4 nights in december 2008.We slept really well in the very comfortable bed. The bathroom comes right out of a design magazine and the living room was very nicely decorated. There is a spectacular roof terrace which we unfortunetly could not use because of the weather. The location is very well situated, a good connection with the tram, only 10 minutes to the citycentre, and if you want you can lent bicycles from Lidy en Ren?.Breakfast from Lidy is a real treat! We certainly will come back soon!
Zeeland, the Netherlands
Again a lovely short stay at this beautiful hidden secret in the East of Amsterdam.
Only 10 nimutes from the citycentre, it seems if you are staying in a little village, sleeping under the church tower.
Private and clean. Modern and stylefull interior. With roofgarden!
