    Pracht suite

Left on 01/06/2012 for a stay in December 2011

Wij waren blij verrast over het confort, de inrichting en de ruimte die de accomodatie biedt.
De Suite oogt fris en het bed was heel erg confortabel. De badkamer, met heerlijke doche en leuke inrichting waren de kers op de taart.

The linnaeusuite could not have been better. The apartment is immaculate, beautifully decorated and in an ideal location on a quiet square - a welcome refuge the madding crowds of amsterdam but just a short 15 minute tram ride from the city center, Our hosts were always on hand, quick to respond to any inquiries and gave us detailed information about restaurants, bike rentals and other services in the neighbourhood. There is a supermarket just around the corner and the guesthouse is a short five-minute walk from the tram stop. The ample supply of Nespresso coffee and a bottle of prosecco on arrival were much appreciated details. We will definitely recommend this guiesthouse to friends visiting amsteram.

Great place to stay with serenity

Left on 01/01/2012 for a stay in December 2011

It is a lovely and spacious place to stay in. Lidy (the owner) has keep up the place very nicely. And it really gave us a home feel while we stay there. Although there is not really a kitchen, but there is coffee machine, microwave and kettle for us to enjoy a tea time and breakfast.

Distance walking from the tram is not too far away, takes us about 12 mins with big luggages. And thanks to Lidy to have her son in helping us moving the luggage up to 3rd floor, cause our daughter's suit case is quite big and heavy. And we were a bit exhausted after travel a long way from asia and arriving late.

The church bell does woke us up early in the morning, and if you are not a deep sleeper, then you may find it disturbing, but we are ok about it.

We visited amsterdam for a long weekend recently. As we booked relatively late we were faced with a choice between grotty, overpriced, city centre hostels, or with booking something slightly more expensive and slightly further out. It turns out that you really get what you pay for.

From the moment we booked the Linnaeussuite we knew we'd made the right decision. It was cheaper than other guesthouses we looked at, and we really got value for money. Lidy was really helpful, emailing detailed instructions on the best ways to get there, and she proved to be an excellent, welcoming host. Like all good guesthouse owners, she gives you everything you'll need to have a nice time, but then stays out of your way unless required.

The guesthouse is situated in a really pleasant part of the city, with some great cafes, bars and restaurants - particularly the French restaurant nearby, where I had one of the best meals I've ever eaten. It's not as close to the centre as perhaps we'd have liked, but we either rented bicycles or got the tram, so it didn't make much difference. In fact, it was really nice to go back to somewhere quiet at the end of a busy day / night out. If you're heading back to the airport at the end of your stay there's a regular bus about 5 minutes walk from the Linnaeussuite that takes you right to the terminal - starting from around 6am.

The accommodation itself is beautifully decorated and spotlessly clean, particularly the bathroom. In fact, since we got home we've been motivated into improving our own flat - it'd be wonderful to live somewhere as nice as Linnaeussuite. The beds were incredibly comfortable, the kitchen area (provided you don't need an oven) gave us all we needed, and the street it's situated on is quiet and really pretty.

In short, you should book here. It's awesome.

    Wonderful experience at Linnaeussuite

Left on 10/26/2011 for a stay in October 2011

My boyfriend and I stayed at Lidy's for one week earlier this month and we loved it! The apartment is a little bit outside of the city center, but only a 10 minute tram ride to the center. Perfect location, as it allowed us to return to a quiet neighborhood setting after our long days. I was a little worried about the previous reviews that I read citing the church bells being an issue (the apartment is on a quiet street and right across from a church). So, we brought earplugs and got ready for sleepless nights. We never heard a thing! We did hear the bells once, on Sunday morning at the start of mass, but that's to be expected. Lidy is a wonderful hostess and her husband Rene was great as well. They were really helpful with restaurant recommendations, and other information that we needed. Yes, there are quite a few stairs to get to the top floor, but that's amsterdam. The apartment is beautiful, quiet, and was a great place to return to every night. No need to stay in a hotel the next time we go to amsterdam. We will surely stay at Linnaeussuite. I highly recommend it.
