From this Amsterdam apartment, you find yourselves in a typical monumental Amsterdam building, used to be a canal house before they closed the main most important canal. Only a stonedrop away from Royal Palace, Central Station, the red light district and all the other hot spots you would like to visit are a heartbeat away. More Central is just NOT possible.

The location of the Mooi Rose was perfect for what we had planned to do and places we had planned to go. We either walked or took public transportation every where we went. It is the first stop from the train station on tram #5 or a very easy walk. We chose to make the 5 to 7 minute walk from the train station just so we could see more of amsterdam.
Very easy key turnover as Christa and Yvon (owner/manager) live on the upper two floors of the flat. Christa met us at the door of our rental. She is very friendly and helpful she gave us some great information regarding things to do, places to go, and restaurants to eat. In addition, there was travel information in the apartment that we could review in the evening before we headed out the next day. The apartment is very nice and the living room/dinning room is very spacious. The pictures of the apartment are exactly what the apartment is like. If you notice the bedroom picture the bed is very close to the cabinet doors so you cannot get them open all the way so they are basically useless. However, there is some nice cabinet space in the dinning area. The stair way up to the apartment is very narrow and steep. Fortunately we were using back packs and it was fairly easy to get our stuff up the stairs.
It is a little noisy however, I have stayed in plenty of hotels that are as bad if not worse than the Mooi Rose. -

Upon arriving at Mooi Rose, Christa, one of the owners, greeted us and gave us the full low down of the flat and surrounding area. As our stay coincided with Koninginnedag, she prepped us for what to expect and advised us on how to enjoy and deal with the craziness of the holiday. Her restaurant recommendations were also spot on. Christa was wonderful in making us feel welcome and at home in her flat!
The flat is true to the pictures shown on the Holiday Velvet website. The only thing to be aware of is that the flat is on the 1st floor which requires going up a steep flight of stairs, so if you're elderly or not as physically able, going up and down those stairs every day (and with your luggage) may be difficult. While the location was great for us given that we came and went from the train station frequently, note that it is positioned above a bar and next to a youth hostel, so it can be quite noisy in the evenings. The flat has double paned windows, but some of the noise still seeps through.
The kitchen has very limited cookware and dishware in the flat, so don't plan on cooking a lot while you're there.
All in all, though, we really enjoyed our stay and thought the hospitality was great.
