AlabasterNo better place to stay in amsterdam than this one
Left on 05/20/2013 for a stay in July 2012
After an extensive search for places to stay in amsterdam, I chose the Korenbloemen Studio apartment. It was absolutely perfect. As I tell my friends, it is in the middle of the middle of amsterdam. Everything you want to see is within walking distance. There's an albert Heijn grocery store and several restaurants in Nieuwmarkt Square just up the street. Even the train station is a relatively easy walk. Plus it's a nice treat to enter the apartment by just walking down a few steps rather than walking up a flight or two. Just imagine waking up in the morning, walking out your door, and you're right next to a quiet canal. Hugo is a fabulous host and was very attentive to our needs. I can't imagine ever staying in a hotel here - this is so much better!

We stay at this apartment for a week every year during the Queens Day celebrations. The apartment is perfect. It's central so everything is within walking distance, but at the same time it's quiet as its a basement apartment. Hugo is a fantastic host, helpful, available and knowledgable. Plus as its apartment you can keep your own hours and pop back for a nice sit down and a cup of senseo coffee inbetween all the walking.

Left on 04/05/2013 for a stay in March 2013

Dear Carlo: Thank you for your commendation. I am happy you enjoyed your stay! You now make me curious which of the beers at De Engelbewaarder I should try next time! Again: thank you. Hugo
Note to other guests: the apartment has central heating, a floor heated bathroom and an air ventilation system, however, the latter is not a full airconditioning. -

This is a little Gem of an apartment and an ideal base to explore and enough living space to relax in the city of amsterdam.
The apartment is welcoming from arrival to the end of each day and has splendid facilities to both cater for and entertain yourself i.e. free wifi, tv/dvd/radio entertainment for those relaxing times and including a washer/dryer, gas hob, microwave, fridge, and a dishwasher for self service living. I have just returned from last week and amsterdam was somewhat Chilley (-5) but being fitted with central heating and floor heating in the bathroom the apartment was warm and cosy for the whole week of my stay. The bedroom is at the rear of the apartment offering a feeling of seperation to the living area with the bed being comfortable and the bathroom having a great walk in shower which always has hot water supply seemingly at any time.
Hugo (your host), is welcoming and is a great help if and when needed, however he keeps a discrete distance when not needed to let you enjoy the freedom of the apartment. All the main sites and attractions are close enough to walk to (the best way to explore and experience amsterdam). Having the facility to prepare your own food (supermarket is very near for supplies) or enjoy a take-away is great however, should you wish not to cater for yourself there are many good restaurants near to this apartment with recommedations provided by Hugo in apt welcome pack.
Also keep your eye out for special offers for rental periods - on this visit Hugo arranged a free airport pick up which was great (although the train to centraal amsterdam from the airport is easy and frequent and its a short walk (15mins) to the flat from centraal station)
I think it obvious I like and appreciate the apartment (this is my third stay at the apartment over several years) and have no trouble recommending it (well thats not true as would like to keep it quiet so i can book it again:-))
thanks for a great stay Hugo!! -

York, EnglandProbably the best place to stay in amsterdam
Left on 10/24/2012 for a stay in October 2012
The title may seem a bit over the top. After all I have never visited amsterdam before and, therefore, have nothing to compare it against.
However, before I set out I did a lot of research and the hotels I was considering where nearly twice the daily rental of this apartment, but I doubt the facilities and convenience were anywhere near as good.
The apartment was ideal. It had first rate fixtures and fittings (including a washer/dryer, gas hob, microwave, fridge and a dishwasher), the bed was comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower. It was a place that gave you enough room to relax after a day walking around the sites of amsterdam. Having the facility to prepare your own food or bring in a take-away meant you were not solely relying on restaurants for your meals.
The location is also ideal. Although it is a basement apartment it was very quiet at night with very few people passing by (the bedroom section of the apartment is at the rear so this also helps to reduce street noise). You are only a few minutes away from the Central Station where most visitors arrive in the city and within the central part of "old" Amsterdam, so the sites (including the Red Light District!) are easily reachable on foot.
Amsterdam is full of very good restaurants, many of them near to this apartment and if you do a bit of research (and listen to Hugo's advice) are not that expensive and certainly a lot cheaper to their equivalents in London.
My wife and I visited a lot of the city's museums, which are not far away and are extremely popular (most open at 9am and if you want to spend some time looking at your favourite Van Gogh then it well worth getting there as early as possible).
Hugo, the proprietor, was a great help when we needed it and is a fount of knowledge regarding good restaurants, museums etc to visit.
I am unsure when I shall return to amsterdam, but I shall, and I will be very disappointed if this apartment was not available during my stay. -

My partner and I stayed in Hugo's quirky little apartment for a few days in November 2011 and it was the best stay in amsterdam yet. Hugo was very very friendly and made us feel very welcome. The apartment had absolutely everything you would need on a holiday and was also very clean, definitely up to my standards! The location is great as its very close to the centre and just a short walk away from some lovely shops and restaurants. We will definitely be back, in fact we are looking to book up fairly soon!! :-)

Small kitchen and perhaps will be too cold(humid) in winter as it is at the underground floor.
Great location and quite clean.

A few steps download makes it not suitable for disable people.

We stayed at the Kloveniersburgal 55 apartment for 7 wonderful days . The apartment was so inviting, well equipped and clean. We were warmly welcomed with cookies by our host Hugo who couldn't have been more helpful or pleasant.. The location of the apartment was such we could safely walk to the various sites, restaurants, bars, coffee shops and cafes. We spent a little more than we usually do for accommodations and we were so glad we did because it was well worth it. The apartment had a very nice layout and came equipped with everything we needed. It included many travel books, maps, Dvd's and Cd's. Hugo had also prepared an instruction book with directions and suggestions to make your visit easier and more enjoyable. The bed was very comfortable and the linens were the type that could be cleaned after each renter. A new set of towels were delivered in the middle of our 7 day stay. Items used to clean up in the kitchen were fresh. There were also basic food staples in the cupboard. There is a washer/dryer which we needed to use and did. There is also a dishwasher which made things so convenient. You can tell Hugo takes pride in his property and values his renters. A safe was provided for added security and was easy to use. The bathroom was well equipped and the shower had great water pressure and plenty of hot water. Hugo needed access to our apartment for some work and asked our permission to enter while we out. He told us he would be with the workmen. When we returned that day the most beautiful bouquet of flowers were in a vase was on an end table. I don't know if that was because we gave permission to enter or if it is something he usually does, either way it was a very classy gesture. We felt we had it all... the canal, a beautiful apartment, the best location and a most gracious host.

We have stayed at this apartment many times, because it is in the best location for walking around amsterdam and it is very quiet, especially compared with the city hotels where the trams wake you up at 5am!
The apartment is well equipped, has free wifi and is very comfortable.
Theres lots of books about amsterdam in the apartment left by past travellers and Hugo, who is very amenable, has prepared a folder of hints and tips for eating out and visiting more than just the main tourist sites. Our favourite for beer is the windmill micro brewery near the Zoo.
I have stayed in four other locations in amsterdam and this one beats the others hands down, which is why we return year after year.

After getting off the train at central station, a five minute walk got us to the apartment where we arrived to a warm friendly welcome from Hugo. He showed us around the apartment and had a book of recommendations of where to go/see/eat in amsterdam. The apartment was very clean and felt very homely. Plenty of dvds and books to choose from if you want a relaxing night in. The apartment is very central and within walking distance to the main attractions, yet far enough away from the hustle and bustle to be quiet at night. We had a brilliant time and would definitely come back and stay here again. The apartment was good value and made our stay even more enjoyable with all the little extras Hugo added to make it feel like home (example fresh flowers). Look forward to our next stay.

We stayed here for 10 days at the start of april - what a great place to call home during our visit!
We couldn't have asked for a better location as we truly were close to everything. A short walk to the Dam, 10-15 minute walk to cross over the other side of the city in the Jordaan, 5 minutes from the Rembrandplein, 5 minutes to Spui, 15 minutes to the Leidesplein and from there another 5 minutes and you're in the museum district. The apartment is close to buses, trams and the metro (the latter was very handy getting to/from central station as it was a 20 second ride).
The apartment itself was great - pretty much all the amenities you'd need. We loved the little kitchen (which made our dinners at home a nice treat!), the washer/dryer was great, the bathroom with its heated floors was lovely and the bed was quite comfortable indeed. Having a small living room area was great as well...
Hugo was a fabulous host - and the city guide that he prepared was a very nice treat. We went to many places he suggested and enjoyed them all.
We would definitely recommend this place for anyone looking to spend a fair bit of time in the city - it really felt like a home away from home. -

For a first trip to amsterdam this apartment was an excellent choice. Hugo was the perfect host. He was waiting for us when we arrived, only an hour from touchdown at the airport. The train from the airport only takes 20 minutes. We chose to walk to the apartment from the station as we thought it was easier than taking the metro with our pull-along cases.
The apartment's location was ideal, within easy reach of the station and all the major tourist sites. We walked everywhere, we did not need to take public transport. We liked the canal side location. The apartment is a semi basement, but we still had excellent views of the historical buildings across the canal.
The apartment is nicely furnished, it's layout carefully thought out. We were very comfortable and had felt immediately at home. Especially liked Hugo's supermarket recommendation to shop at Maarkt.
Hugo was very helpful. We were able to leave our luggage with him before our departure.
I only had one small niggle. A soap dish would have been useful in the shower cubicle. I would certainly recommend the apartment and stay there again on a future visit. -

Having traveled to amsterdam 2-3 times a year for more than 15 years now, I have stayed in many different apartments, houseboats, and hotels. 'De Korenbloemen' apartment is in a perfect location in the center of amsterdam along the Kloveniersburgwal and well equiped.
The apartment comes with a refrigerator, stove, microwave, washer/dryer, free wi-fi, and satelite tv with a good sized LCD tv. Everything one would need.
Hugo the apartment owner and host was excellent. He provides great information and is very welcoming.
The apartment is a basement apartment so there are no narrow stairs to climb. Reminds me of Lavern and Shirley's apartment. Bathroom and shower are good.
The apartment is priced right and I would definitely stay there again. I really love the location and price.
We arrived at 7:00 a.m. and the apartment was ready for our early arrival. That was really nice. -

The apartment is a small, convenient, well equipped place to stay in the centre of amsterdam. We booked for four days and enjoyed the convenience of being able to walk to everything, including the museum, shopping, and redlight districts, as well as a myriad of restaurants in the neighbourhood. Hugo gives you all information needed, via website and verbal, to get you started in this lovely city. He also gave us a very late checkout from the apartment at not extra cost, as we had an evening flight back to australia. These are the little touches that make a holiday memorable.

Myself and my partner stayed in this apartment for a week before Christmas. We couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The apartment is right in the centre of the city on the canal within walking distance of nearly everything you could want to see!
The apartment was very cosy with everything we could possibly need, towels, hair dryer (with diffuser head), blankets, bookes, dvds. Hugo even had put in fresh flowers, a mini christmas tree and some waffles! The heated floor in the bathroom is lovely and the shower is really powerful. The kitchen has everything you need, including a pod coffee machine (complete with pods)and a dishwasher which takes the hastle out of things. It's also beautifully furnished and decorated.
Another major advantage is the bar/restaurant on the same road just five doors down(I don't have the name to hand but it's in the guide books) which has great food, board games/cards is very welcoming and reasonably priced. It also has free live jazz sessions on a Sunday afternoon which was brilliant. All of Hugo's reccomendations turned out to be fantastic so we recommend taking note of his guide!
Hugo was very accomodating when we had questions and made sure that we had everything we could have needed. It really was a fantastic stay and we're already planning another trip. -

Hugo, the owner, was very friendly and made us feel very welcome. He was available at any time incase of any problems but he didn't need to be such was the immaculate condition the apartment was in. We spent a long weekend here a few weeks ago and had a truly great time. Hugo went out of his way to ensure that we arrived safely, and was waiting for us at the doorstep on arrival. The apartment itself is a semi-basement apartment facing directly onto one of the canals, with stunning views. The location could not be better and is amongst numerous nearby bars and cafes, but the room was surprisingly quiet and peaceful. On the doorstep are as many amenities as you could imagine, and a left turn out of the apartment takes you onto some peaceful walks along the quieter canals, which suited us a parents with a young child. The decor is also something special, with much of the original architecture still visible. On the whole, a fantastic experience that is highly recommended - we'll be back!

Our stay at De Korenbloemen was fantastic. Hugo is a wonderful host who clearly loves his city and was easily contacted when needed.
The apartment is the perfect size for setting up a 'home away from home' (kitchen, internet, and laundry facilities). This is a smoke friendly apartment, which we greatly appreciated.
The location is wonderful - close to the Niewmarkt Metro station and Rokin Street for trams, a supermarket for stocking the fridge, and most importantly for us, it is in a vibrant neighborhood that allowed us to experience what living in amsterdam might be like. I already miss the church bells.
Since we hate to be a bother, it would have been nice to have some sort of plug-and- play printer available to print advance tickets. However, that is a nitpick as Hugo offered to print them for us if we wanted.
Overall, I highly recommend this property. We were so impressed by the apartment that we will schedule around when it is available for our next trip to amsterdam.
Many thanks to Hugo for letting us share his beautiful home during our stay.

Hugo was really nice and friendly and checked us in within minutes :) so thanks Hugo!! my only suggestion is to hang a curtain up to separate the bedroom from the living area... we shall hopefully b back next year thanks for a lovly time :) !!

Do not hesitate to rent this apartment. It is close to everything. The washer/dryer is an absolute blessing. The Korenbloemen has been my choice in amsterdam for 2 years on the bounce. Hugo and his apartment will allow you to really enjoy amsterdam. A hotel room cannot match having your door 10 steps from a beautiful Dutch canal. Free wireless, fridge, sleeps 2, good bathroom, privacy...you couldn't ask for more.

We stayed for 3 nights, the apartment was very clean, equipped with everything you need. We were lucky enough to have seen a performance as a part of amsterdam festival, a floating stage located just outside the apartment on the canal. The classical music we heard was mesmerising, the netherlands national ballet also performed a large classical choreography followed by a modern ballet duet, it made our stay feel very special, lots of locals turned up and brought there own wine and food. Hugo is very friendly, nice apartment, we thoroughly enjoyed out stay. L & L

The apartment overlooks a canal and is easy walking distance to all the main points of interest in amsterdam. The studio is small, clean, with so many features that make it a perfect place to stay - dishwasher, washing machine, great coffee maker and Hugo provided coffee, creamer and biscuits. It was obvious that Hugo put a lot of thought into the design and functionality of the apartment. Hugo himself is very gracious and helpful. I can't recommend this place more.

Left on 07/13/2011 for a stay in July 2011
If there are two of you visiting amsterdam for culture, shopping, a little night life and sightseeing, this apartment comes highly recommended by us! Location: Perfect; on a canal not a tram line, so it was very quiet at night. The Botanical Gardens/ Zoo are an easy walk, as is Dam Square, Rembrandt Square and the Kalverstrasse shopping street (lower prices than '9 streets' area). To get a little further, to the museums in the south, we took a short walk to the nearest tram and it was just two stops along. All the stops are announced and any map will show you which lines go where. Things to see: The Vondelpark was well worth a visit, take a picnic and look for the stage where we saw a guitarist/singer. Zoo is utterly charming; typical city zoo in that is has a small footprint, but beautiful landscaping, pretty enclosures and healthy animals (lots of babies including an elephant). Zoo has a planetarium, Dutch language, but stunning to view anyway. Boom Chicago is a comedy show in Leidseplein (nice centre for evening entertainment not quite as manic as Dam Sq.) very funny, suggest older teenagers only.Facilities: The bed is two mattresses both full size singles, so perfect for a Mum and her teenage daughter to 'share' and for couples a very generous king size. Very comfortable. Kitchen and bedroom are nicely fitted out with custom built oak finished furniture. Bathroom has a generously sized shower and sitting areas has the wonderful purple chair, claimed by the teenager instantly. Apartment contains large TV, Dvds, dishwasher, washer/dryer. Self-catering apartment is short walk from very clean large supermarket, suggest you take a rucksack. Wine/cheese a bit indifferent, but plenty of fruit veg tapas and nice bread for lunches, also good ranges of ready-made fresh meals for evenings in. Just down the canal from the apartment is a side street with a very good deli selling fresh ready meals, salads and fruit.Would definitely recommend Hugo & his Cornflowers apartment!

Northern California"Ground Floor" means "Basement." Perfectly adequate anyway.
Left on 06/30/2011 for a stay in June 2011
Although the website for this apartment does say it is on the "ground floor," i saw nothing on the website or in the other reviews that prepared me for the fact that it's actually below ground. There's no way to get natural light through the (small, heavily barred) window and door and still have privacy from people walking past and looking in...That would have been good to know beforehand. Also, the ceilings are extremely low (as in, my 6'1" husband had to duck under the beams), so it feels like a little cave and I found it a bit depressing.
With that important caveat, this apartment was perfectly fine for our three-day stay. Things we liked:
The kitchen is nicely equipped with everything we needed, including a dishwasher and laundry machine. Everything was sparkling clean. The price was very, very reasonable for amsterdam, and the location is fabulously central (we could walk to almost everything) and scenic, right next to a canal. (Walking to the central train station by direct route will take you through the red light district, but the most unpleasant part of that was the hordes of intoxicated tourists.) The shower water pressure was good. It was really helpful to have wi-fi.
Things we didn't like:
The bed, although unusually wide by European standards and really not bad, has a futon-like texture and palpable "split" between the twin mattresses that make it up, and the duvets that are the only covers are scratchy and not very comfortable. Hugo was polite and left comprehensive, helpful instructions, but was rather perfunctory as our host, telling us that he was going to be out of town during our three-day stay and, though we had his mobile number and certainly could have called him with questions, it would have been reassuring to be told there was an in-town contact who would have come over if there had been any problem. Turning on the dishwasher was not obvious to us -- ask for a demo. Bring your own bar of soap, there was none provided. If there is a way to make the phone dial internationally, I couldn't find it (understandable but should probably be in the instructions). The living room carpet is stained, scratchy and ugly.
With all the negatives, I would still recommend it and would stay here again. I didn't especially like it, but we were comfortable enough and the price was really good.Response from Hugo Lingeman - 07/06/2011
Owner
Hi Shifra:
Thank you for your extensive comments.
I try to be very transparent on my offering with descriptions, photos and video. As I would like the guest experience to be WYSIWYG: What You See Is What You Get. I feel best when my guests say: "it's just like the website". Apparently I haven't quite succeeded, in that you were disappointed with some aspects of your stay.
Sorry to hear that you were uncomfortable with the fact that I was out of town two nights out of your three night stay. The idea of leaving my mobile was that you'd call, also for minor questions such as the phone... And yes, I do have backups for problems that might arise if I am not at home: another apartment owner around the corner and others (depending on the kind of question or problem). Obviously I should have been lots clearer about it. I apologize that I wasn't.
I take your comments to heart and will have a look how I can further improve my services.
Again: thank you.

This is my 7th stay at this apartment, which I think really says it all, however thats probably not very helpful! The apartment is in a great location within walking distance to all the sights of amsterdam as well as the station if you want to go on a day trip and the metro is metres away if you want to go to other areas in amsterdam. The supermarket is also very near so is ideal for stocking up the fridge. Its quiet, very comfortable and has great facilities, everything you need including Wifi. Hugo is very accommodating which makes the stay even more pleasurable. I would recommend this apartment to everyone.

This really was a lucky find. We chose this apartment, primarily for its location as we have stayed literally round the corner on previous visits, so knew that the location would be perfect. Everything is within walking distance, and other places are within view from your front door - it really is that convenient.
The apartment is fully equipped, to a 'home from home' standard despite its small size - although there is no oven but this is not really an issue for short-term stays.
The street can be quite busy at times, but sat in the apartment during the day, you still feel like you're part of the hustle and bustle of the city.
Hugo has provided a truly comprehensive guide for amsterdam first-timers, and we found his recommendations to be excellent. He is a very accommodating host and we knew if there was a problem that we could reach him.
The only complaint, (and I had to struggle to find one) is that maybe the place could have done with a once-over with a duster and a bit of polish but thats being really picky. The bedding and towels were clean as was the fridge, cooking area and utensils and the bathroom; these being the most important aspects for us when staying anywhere.
We look forward to going again soon! -

We are certain to return to this very clean and well equiped apartment. Hugo, the owner, was kind, helpful & couteous and provided an extensive binder full of useful and interesting information on amsterdam and surrounding area. The location could not have been better. You are right on the canal within walking distance of all the sites, nice bakeries, restaurnats and cafes, and easy walking distance to Central Station and several markets. Unlike some apartments we have stayed in, the pictures on the web site were an acccurate representation of the apartment. There was a restaurant only a few doors down and it had a lovely patio on the canal and was reasonably priced, although, it became noisey late Fri & Sat evening because of the crowds.
This gem will not disappoint. -

Amsterdam has so much to offer, it would be impossible to take it "all in" in only one week. We fell in love with the city, the culture and the people. Our cozy studio apartment in the 16th century canal house was fabulous. We cooked breakfast in the small but well equipped kitchen almost everyday. We loved shopping in the Nieumarket two "blocks" away. We were close to everything and rode the tram to see museums a little further out. The apartment manager saw to our every need even arranging for our taxi to the airport. I would recommend the Korenbloemen to anyone. It's a treasure just like amsterdam.

My husband and I honeymooned in amsterdam and chose Hugo's apartment as our home base. It was a fantastic decision! From discovering the apartment on Hugo's website (which presents a completely accurate portrayal of the property and its amenities) to enjoying the real thing, this apartment and its owner never let us down. When we arrived, Hugo was very welcoming. He has a knack for letting his presence and assistance be known, but not being intrusive in any way. The apartment was stylish but homey as well. The bathroom (especially in the Winter) was wonderful with it's heated floor and powerful shower. Please note, however, that the rest of the apartment does not have heated floors and is uncarpeted (except for an area rug in the living room) - bring slippers! Also, while the washer/dryer combo came into handy use, it does take a while for the cycles to finish - be patient! The location is fantastic; it can't be beat. Church bells chime during the day, the canal drifts along right beside the apartment, and numerous restaurants, coffee shops, stores and sights are right nearby. The apartment windows are at street level which was a little disconcerting at first but the curtains work just fine at providing privacy. The apartment is priced well - it was less expensive than the hotel we stayed at three years ago when we first visited amsterdam. All and all, we highly recommend Hugo's perfect little apartment to all!

The location is fantastic. The Waag and Neumarkt are right close by and the neighbourhood is very attractive indeed. Great shops, museums, bars and cafes within a couple of minutes. Seattle, WAAn Ideal Location; an Ideal Price
Left on 01/06/2010 for a stay in December 2009
I travel often, mostly by myself. Finding a place to stay that can feel like a home is a rare treat. I don't need to be pampered by the places where I stay, but I do need to be comfortable. Hugo's Apartment is one of those rare gems that accomplishes exactly that.
It's location in NieuwMarkt puts you close enough to everything (most places in Amsterdam are within a short walking distance), but it's still removed enough that you don't find yourself swimming in the sea of other travelers when you settle down for the night.
Adding to this is the fact that the apartment itself gives you a modest kitchen, living room and separate bedroom, that it allows you to simply relax when your there. It is well maintained, chock full of books and videos, and Hugo is the most gracious of hosts. The Cornflower Canal Apartment gives you a five-star hotel accommodation for about a third of the price. I stayed two weeks at this location, and if I ever return to this great city, this apartment is the first item on my list to reserve. -

I stayed at the Amsterdam Canal Apartment 'Cornflowers' for 11 nights in total. I was warmly welcomed by Hugo on arrival and felt at home immediately. The location was excellent and the decor of the apartment was very tasteful and stylish. I was in Amsterdam on business, so the comfortable furnishings and wireless internet enabled me to work from the apartment when required. It was an absolute pleasure to stay there, and I would highly recommend it to anyone visiting Amsterdam.

The apartment was everything that was described.
It was clean, the wireless internet worked perfectly,
and there was even a connection to hook your ipod up to the stereo system. The location is right in the Nieuwmarkt area which is a great location. I would definitely stay here again. -

Indianapolis, IN USAHome away from home in a convenient location

The location was convenient to Central Station for transportation, as well as centrally located for our neighborhood walks. We appreciated the amenities in the apartment, such as the kitchen utensils, towels, toiletries, books, movies, and wireless connection, and recommendations for sightseeing and restaurants.
Hugo responded quickly to our reservation inquiries, and our check-in/check-out couldn't have been easier.
The apartment was the perfect "home away from home", and provided the independence we enjoy while traveling.
Thank you, Hugo! -

Kuwait / USAAnother great stay with Hugo & Bas

Amsterdam Canal Apartments has been our first choice for the past 10 years. The quality of the apartments can’t be beat, the location is perfect. Hugo and Bas have never let us down. Staying here beats a hotel any day. There is nothing like having a full breakfast in your underwear at noon should you choose (no more hurry up get dressed and down to the breakfast room). There is a grocery store is right around the coroner. The dish washer is a big plus. Staying here gives you freedom to do what you want when you want. Being able to heat up leftovers from dinner the night before with that ½ bottle of wine actually saves money. Our stays vary from 3 to 10 days and having laundry facilities in the apartment is great! The Canal Apartments is the only place to stay while you are enjoying Amsterdam!.

Perth, AustraliaWe Love Amsterdam : )

Korenbloemen Apartment was the perfect place to stay during our 10 days in Amsterdam. Unfortunately Hugo was away during our visit, so we didn't get to meet him, however we were met at the front door by Mrs Sousa, who was lovely and made sure we had everything we needed. From then on we dealt with Hugo's nephew Fokke, who was very helpful and also lovely : ). We loved the apartment. The bed was very comfortable, the water pressure in the good-sized shower is fantastic!, the washer/dryer worked very well and everything we could have needed was supplied. It was also great to have a large selection of books/dvd's to choose from, including a good selection on Amsterdam and its surrounds.W
The location of the apartment was perfect, so close to everything and yet there was not too much traffic past the front door. Centraal station, Dam Square, Waterlooplein, De Waag, Nieuwmarket and Rembrandthuis all a short walk away. It was also good having the metro station behind the apartment, especially the elevator down to it. We shopped at the Albert Heijn at Nieuwmarket and also the one near Rembrandt corner, both being very close to the apartment.
We loved everything about our experience in Amsterdam. We definitely recommend that you spend a night at Boom Chicago, though I wouldn't bother with the food - eat somewhere first/afterwards. The show was excellent : )))) Also recommend the chips at the Chipsy King near Dam Square - yummy! We also had an EXCELLENT argentinian steak at Dam Steakhouse not too far from the apartment. It was seriously good.
We walked and walked and walked every day during our stay, and it was so nice to have the apartment to return to, during the day for a nice cup of tea or some lunch, and in the evening to rest our feet!
We don't have anything negative to say about our stay at Cornflowers Apartment. We loved Amsterdam and will definitely stay here again : ). -
