Calgary, AB, CanadaEnjoyable Stay but not without challenges
Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in July 2012
Our family of five adults and one infant chose this property because the description of the property included everything we would need during our ten day stay. While it does offer three bedrooms, guests need to be aware that there is little to no privacy for the two bedrooms located in the main apartment. The curtains in the front bedroom are transparent and there are no window coverings for the second bedroom which looks onto the kitchen. Of the described "3 bathrooms", only two sinks and a bathtub are located in the second bedroom (no toilet) in the main apartment. The washroom in the guest house has plumbing issues as the toilet does not always flush properly nor does the water drain consistently in the shower. Plumbers were called in at one point however the problem persisted throughout our stay. At the end of our stay, we were down to the use of one bathroom for six people. As well, even though the description states that there is a washer/dryer in the apartment, there is only a wash machine. We eventually were provided with a drying rack but towels took three days to dry in the damp amsterdam conditions. There was no soap or shampoo provided on our arrival so future guests should be prepared with their own supplies on the day of their arrival. We were also told that there was a barbecue (grill) on the patio however there was no such item available to us. The apartment has been newly renovated and painted (noted by the plastic bag that covered the smoke detector) and was clean upon our arrival. The placement of a broom in the apartment would help guests to clean the floors more regularly. Overall, we enjoyed our stay in amsterdam however there are some issues that prevented me from giving an excellent rating for our stay in this apartment.

Manhattan Beach, CaliforniaCozy apartment in Great Location

My wife and I stayed at amstelveld 9 and we were very pleased with the accomodations. The apartment is spacious with all updated modern conviences. Very nice bathroom (with separate shower) modern kitchen (there was no microwave as far as we knew), comfortable beds (not too large though) and a wonderful spacious living area with large windows to let in light and air. There is heat but no aC (don't really need it). The steps up to the apartment are rather steep and typical for amsterdam. Really loved the washer/dryer.
The location on Prinsengracht canal in a quiet neighborhood was fantastic. There were a number of wonderful local restaurants (including 2 right on the canal) and it you wanted to dine in, there were 2 grocery stores 1 block away (one organic that was very nice) on Vuzelgracht. The closest tram line is about 1 block away but the stop is about 4 blocks away (10 min walk). If you are toting luggage make sure it has wheels! There is a flower market on Monday mornings that is really nice. Suggest on a late weekend afternoon to sit at a local cafe with a drink and watch all the canal boals cruise by - very entertaining!
All the big sites and shopping areas are between a 10-20 minute walk away (or 5 min bike ride) and the walks are highly enjoyable and we saw that as a big positive than a negative.
At the end of the stay (4 nights) we really felt like locals and had a great appreciation of the city/neighborhood. -

After we survived the taxi ride to the rental office and to the apartment, our stay was great. It was clean, central, and comfortable and we enjoyed it for the first half of our honeymoon. We'd stay there again!
