We would definitely recommend this apartment. The location is superb, next door to one of the best bakeries in amsterdam, a fantastic view and brilliant location. Minnie had every guide book going and a list of great restaurants nearby. The apartment was spotless too and had a vast selection of tea's and great coffee.
We stayed on a really cold week in February and the apartment was really warm. -

MisgavWonderful apartment
Left on 05/05/2013 for a stay in April 2013
Our host couldn't have been more charming - he greeted us on arrival, and gave us plenty of useful information regarding local eateries and attractions. We ran into him several times during our stay and he was always most helpful.
The apartment was great: the location suited us perfectly. Spui is a great area for eating, 10 minutes walk to the Rijks in one direction and even less time to wander down to Dam square in the other direction.
The steps up to the apartment are somewhat daunting at first, but after a couple of trips up and down, you get to handle them like a true native. And it is good training if you plan to visit the anne Frank House or the Rembrant House in the course of your stay.
The bathroom wasn't the biggest that we have seen in our travels, but that did not cause us any problem. The apartment was spotlessly clean - my wife has a 'thing' about cleanliness - and she gave top marks on that score. The apartment has been lovingly furnished, including many art books, if you want to improve your knowledge in that area.
The view is fantastic: overlooking the canal - we enjoyed relaxing with a bottle of wine and selection of cheeses while enjoying the view. Local supermarket just around the corner, as well as a selection of bakeries. And no shortage of cafes and restaurants if you want to enjoy a good meal.
Overall, a great place to stay; wonderful apartment; great neighborhood; and easy walking distance to all the attractions of the city. -

Left on 03/24/2013 for a stay in March 2013
Making the booking was very easy and emails with all info were promptly sent. Arriving at the apartment we were met by Minne who kindly carried a suitcase up the very steep set of stairs into the apartment. The apartment took up the whole of the first floor and was in excellent condition. Minne gave a welcoming talk and gave tips on where to eat and buy groceries etc he also gave us an extra set of keys. We were warned about the need to pay cash upfront but we weren't aware of the need to pay a deposit. This wasn't a problem and it was paid back to us on the day before we left. The apartment had everything we needed including an excellent coffee machine and effective central heating. We also accessed the wi-fi. The bedroom was small and the bed fitted across the whole of the width so you had to crawl into bed and there wasn't anywhere to put your phone (for an alarm) or a glass of water. There is one rail to hang up clothes but no where to store underwear or socks so suitcase was used as storage for these. That said the bedroom was very quiet and comfortable. The bathroom again was small but very clean with a good shower and the underfloor heating was good. We found the location of the apartment to be very central to all the main sites and near to nightlife but not near the hen/stag party venues. We found some excellent restaurants in the road parallel to the flower market 5 minutes from the apartment. We would highly recommend this apartment with its fabulous views and would not hesitate in booking again as we had a great visit and the apartment allowed us to have a much more relaxed break as opposed to staying in a hotel.

Bradford, United KingdomA wonderfully modern apartment in a beautiful, central location.
Left on 01/30/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We stayed for three nights in this fantastic apartment after reading glowing reviews and looking at the great reviewer photographs. It lived up to our high expectations completely and utterly, and we are definitely considering booking another stay in the future.
It is in a typical old amsterdam canal-side townhouse, but a very tasteful modernisation has rendered it extremely comfortable, and it has been made homely and individual with prints, arty bric-a-brac and books.
The bed was absolutely huge and took up the whole of the small bedroom to the rear, but once you climbed in, it offered a wondeful night's sleep. The bathroom had an excellent shower and a nice selection of toiletries.
Minne was there to welcome us and answer any questions we had. He had very good advice on what to see that might not be on the average tourist's radar. The nearby hidden courtyard being a good example - don't miss it! There was an impressive selection of guide books for guests' use, as well as recommendations for local restaurants to suit any budget. Minne was also very understanding when we had to slightly extend our check-out time because we had booked tickets to see anne Frank's house on the last morning.
As for the location, it really can't be beaten. It is in a part of town which does not have very many hotels, but absolutely loads of beauty and character, with fascinating shops and lots of bars, restaurants and cafes on the doorstep. At the same time you never felt far from any of the major attractions, and we got around just fine on foot and by jumping on and off the (incredibly frequent) trams.
To sum up, a great place to stay if you want to feel a part of a beautiful city. It was my first time in amsterdam, and I'm sure I'll be back. (My partner had been before and didn't need any persuading!) It weaves quite a spell, and this apartment only added to the magic. -

Great location, great neighborhood!!! We had a great experience in amsterdam, we love the city and the entire atmosphere around everywhere.
Sometimes pictures/descriptions are not enough to showcase how nice, clean, organized and well prepared everything were for our visit. People in charge of the apartment were very friendly, helpful and nice to us. They had a great deal of information/brochures for almost everything you need during your stay.
Apartment has awesome views to the canal, big windows and skylights; love the kitchen. There are supermarket/grocery stores withing walking distance.
Location, location is everything! Keep in mind that. It's worth every penny. -

Left on 09/13/2012 for a stay in August 2012

I am remiss in waiting so long to review this lovely apartment, because it was so wonderful. It really made our stay in amsterdam. You can see by the photos of the living room that the view is phenomenal. It rained while we were there, but in the evening we sat in the living room sipping a glass of wine and watching the rain and the bicycle traffic. It was absolutely beautiful.
The location is so central that it is convenient to everything and the owner is happy to provide recommendations and directions. I wondered how different our visit would have been if we had stayed in a regular hotel. I think I would have had a very different perception of amsterdam overall. I very much hope to stay here again for a longer time.
The apartment in meticulously clean and very quiet. The bedroom is tucked in the back and taken up almost entirely by the very comfortable bed. The apartment is compact and efficient with a tiny bathroom. This is only a problem if you have some notion of lounging in a bubble bath.
I highly recommend this apartment.

Very good location, within walking distance of many of the city's sights and museums. Easy to get to and from the Central Station. The canal view from the living room is very nice. The stairs in the house are narrow and very steep, which is typical of older houses in amsterdam. I managed to get my 28-inch suitcase up and down the stairs, and wouldn't bring anything bigger than that.

Spent 4 nights at this lovely apartment and although was probaly more expensive than an Hotel - well worth it. Beautifully decorated, comfortable apartment in an ideal location for all the sights most of which were within walking distance.
The owner who meets you on arrival is full of useful information and tips for eating, drinking and things to do - all his recommendations for food were excellent.
We especially enjoyed a trip further afield to Volendam & Marken - dont bother with the organised tour - just catch the bus from Central Station to Volendam then the ferry over to Marken and then the bus back from there!
All in all a great short break. -

Left on 06/11/2012 for a stay in September 2011
For five nights in late September, we rented the top-floor apartment of this picturesque and very well-maintained building centrally located on the Singel canal. The apartment itself was newly furnished, modern, and comfortable, complete with a washer & dryer, and amazing views of the canal, the street, the skyline. The stairs to our top floor apartment were steep and windy and we had too much luggage; however, we managed with help from the owner, Minne. If a person has trouble climbing stairs or comes with lots of heavy luggage, we recommend the lovely ground floor apartment.
The owner accommodated our request to arrive earlier than arranged, and he was both extremely gracious and informative in suggesting restaurants and sights. But even more importantly, he was generous in answering our questions and sharing his knowledge of amsterdam, both historical and current. We could not have asked for a better experience. We felt very fortunate to have found this gem of a place.

We received great service at the Canal View apartment. The owner greeted us on arrival and was very helpful, showed us around the apartment then recommended sights and restaurants to visit while there.
The apartment was a good size for two and had everything you would need, the bathroom was a little small but they all are in amsterdam. The only thing i didn't like was the steep stairs to our room, but all houses have these to, just pack lightly.
Would definitley recommend to others. -

Left on 03/31/2012 for a stay in March 2012
My wife and I spent a long weekend here and really enjoyed the experience. The place is clean, comfortable, and very conveniently located. The owner, an art history professor at the local university, takes good care of the apartment and his guests. He has great recommendations for places to visit and has organized the city's tourist attractions, including more off the beaten path places, in a neat and convenient binder, which he personally shares with his guests, pointing out the highlights of the city. There is a wonderful bakery downstairs, a lovely lunch place across the canal and a street full of restaurants and bars on the parallel street in back of the apartment. The place is one street away from the tram, which was our main form of transport to the farther away places throughout the city (very convenient). On the down side, the place has a very steep and narrow staircase so is not suitable for older, disabled or guests with very young children. The bathroom and bedroom are pretty small, but this is pretty typical of any amsterdam apartment so centrally located. In summary, we loved the place and would recommend it without reservation.

My wife and I stayed here for 5 days in summer 2011. Minne (owner) is an excellent host and instantly makes you feel a part of the nearby community (take note of his restaurant recommendations). We were initially hesitant about spending more on this rental in comparison to other nearby or similar rentals. Ultimately the view from the Tripadvisor photos was the main reason we booked this apartment. However upon arrival we quickly realized this apartment offers superior location and amenities... Reliable wifi, washer/dryer, coffee maker, modern decor, public transport two steps away, grocery store 1/2 block away. Without a doubt, worth every euro to stay here. Stay here and you might just fall in love with amsterdam - we did.

Ive been to amsterdam over 30 times and prefer to stay in appartments - this one is really good, the only potential downside is the steep stairs (which are pretty common in the Dam) - The location is excellent - as is the view out of the window. The owner met me on check in to explain the no-smoking policy and go through some of the books / recommendations for the local area. I scaled the stairs for my smoking sessions which was fine. Would definately consider staying here again in the future.

This apartment was light and comfotable with a great view over singel canal. living area was very nice, bedroom was small with no wardrobe to put clothes meant living out of suitcase. Kitchenette was small but servicable and bathroom was clean but small. Stairs to apartment on 1st floor were incredibly steep, but would stay there again in a heartbeat. The living area, the position and the view out the window more than made up for its shortcomings. Amsterdam itself is a great city. Just hire some bikes and go exploring .

I stay often in amsterdam as part of my work and business and found this apartment perfect for a 2 week stay. It is a fantastic location and walking distance from all hotspots. The apartment is a true dutch canal house and for an insight to high-end amsterdam living with newly refurbished modern interior. Located on the 1st floor of the building it has a beautiful view of the canal to which turns into a very romantic scene in the evenings. Although the apartment is very central it is tucked away enough for a silent undisturbed sleep. The bed was so comfortable I found it extra difficult to wake up in the mornings for work. The landlord Minne is a very lovely welcoming man who was attentive for any needs I required. Overall a brilliant apartment and highly recommended.

After searching the internet for hotels in amsterdam for a 5 day stay and encountering mixed results; we finally decided to pursue staying in a B&B;, something we have always enjoyed in the us. We found what sounded like the perfect place, the City Center Bed and Breakfast. The problem was that they were fully booked during the time of our trip. However, they referred us to someone that had a newly-renovated apartment for rent right on the Singel canal and at an affordable price. We secured our reservation with a credit card and hoped we had made the right choice.
The first floor apartment (one flight up a very steep stairway) was delightful. The owner, who lives upstairs, saw us coming and ran down to get our luggage for us. He then showed us the apartment, which consisted of a nice sized living/dining room with large windows overlooking the canal, a small fully-equipped kitchen area complete with coffee, a small bathroom/shower room, and a bedroom just the width of a queen size bed. There was not much room to store luggage or clothing, but we made it work for our relatively short stay. We prepared our breakfasts every day with supplies purchased at a nearby albert Heijn supermarket. The neighborhood near Spui was full of cafes, restaurants, shops, and plenty of access to trams. We bought a 5 day tram ticket and explored many different parts of the city. The apartment was clean, well furnished, and the owner was very helpful in finding places to eat and sights to see. We will definitely go back to this apartment on our next visit. -

The stairs to the second floor apartment are very narrow and steep; large suitcases will be a challenge to get up the stairs. We only had carry-ons and even they were awkward (the owner did offer to help). Wifi worked great once I got on - hopefully the owner has simplified the key.
The bathroom with shower and heated floor was great. Everything we needed for our short term stay was there. Great coffee machine too. -

Everything was very clean and we even had fresh fruit waiting for us. The windows looked out over a canal and it was great to relax and enjoy the view. The location was perfect, close to public transportation and a wonderful neighborhood. The owner recommended several places to eat in the area and we were extremely happy with each one. The value was excellent and we will recommend it to anyone who might be travelling to amsterdam. It was on the second floor, so it would not be good for a person who was physically disabled. There was a couch that turned into a bed so it could be ok for a couple with 1-2 children. Although we never made anything but tea in the kitchen,it was nice to have the appliances available.
