Swan HillsFantastic Family adventure, amazing value for your money
Left on 11/15/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We had 3 families stay in this awesome lodge. We all had a floor too ourselves. We couldn't get over how big the home was for what we paid. We could come together for meals, dance parties (they have dance cd's there!), visits etc., but then we all had our own space to retreat to also. We really had a wonderful time, my kids are still talking about that huge log house we stayed at in Georgetown. They had tons of options, playing outside by the beach, the paddleboat, and the fishing (my brother in law caught the biggest trout he has ever caught before here, and it was the freshest, yummiest fish I have ever eaten). They also loved the big game room in the basement. We went saphire mining at the mine, and went for old fashioned sodas, and banana splits at the Doe Brothers in Philipsberg. Oh yes also the big highlight for the kids, was the old fashoined candy store. Too fun! We also visited old ghost towns and the kids really loved it. We really did have alot of fun. The house is very well maintaned, immaculate, clean and huge!! We have never stayed at a place like this before, so we were very pleasantly surprised at how well stocked the whole home was. There was even bulk sized shampoo and conditioners in all the bathrooms. There was a toy closet for the kids, dress up clothes, coloring and games. We would love to go back again. I really could go on and on, because we were quite amazed. We didn't need to bring anything except our clothes and fishing rods. We really appreciate the owners and the managers do an amazing job as well. I would highly recommend staying here.

Great place, but a little on the expensive side. We chose the place because it was the only place for rent on Georgetown that was big enough

Tucson ArizonaMountain Lake Lodge Review
Left on 08/20/2009 for a stay in July 2009
The home is great for multiple families as there are several bedrooms and bathrooms. The kitchen is well equipped. The dock area is also great for family gatherings. Some members of our parties wanted to watch dvds in the evening and the tv screen is pretty small. The game room is a great extra. My favorite part is probably sitting around on the deck.

Virginia Beach, VaWe made some great memories
Left on 08/13/2009 for a stay in July 2009
Not sure where to start.
I have been coming to Georgetown lake for 20 years, My Uncle for
40. Typically we would camp but wanted to get new family
members interested in coming to Montana. They would be in and
out with out much chance to camp. Plus for a family group that is
some what new to fly fishing we needed a place where we could get
the gear staged and secured.
Most importantly with a large group we wanted a place where you
could hang out, talk, catch up and get re-acquainted. That is
probably where Mountain Lake lodge stands out. The kitchen has
this larger than life island that seats probably 16. naturally this is
where all would just congregate either for meals, casual talk or just
to grab their computers to catch up with email. The fire pit after
dinner is where all would congregate. Some would fish from a
boat, some on the dock and some just sat around the fire. But as
the night would set in all would just sit around the fire.
All had a great time and I think in a big part by the great
environment that the Mountain lake Lodge creates.
The gang at the home office has always been great. The Lodge
really felt like a home to be shared. Seems every one did their part
to make it work and to make the trip all come together.
I would love to meet the people that put it all together merely so I
cold express my appreciation and but more importantly share what
the stay meant to my family members that made their first trip to
Smith Mountain Lake.
By the way, the fishing was pretty good too.

McCleary, WAFabulous!
Left on 07/16/2009 for a stay in June 2009
We had an absolute blast! The house was much better seeing it in person than what the pictures show online. I love how the island sat all of us at one time to enjoy all our meals together. We spent everyday down at the beach, watched movies, played games, took naps and even fit in some of the local sites.
The only thing I could really complain about is that I found it odd that people, who were obviously friends of the owners, would come up to the boat house to borrow stuff. Sorda awkward. Otherwise the house layout/decor made it very easy to make ourselves at home and really relax.Response from Mountain Home - Montana Vacation Rentals - 07/16/2009

Hi Dena -
Thanks for your nice post. We're thrilled that your crew had such fun at the lodge. Thanks, too, for letting us know that owner's friends came to the boat house. We have brought that up with the owners and clarified that the property is yours during your stay, and you should be enjoying complete privacy!
We hope you'll be our guests again sometime soon.

Left on 07/08/2009 for a stay in July 2009
First impression when we first all walked into the house was, WOW....this is so much better than we even imagined. We didn't even want to tell anyone, we wanted to keep it our best kept secret...but thought that wouldn't be fair. We had great weather all week, kids loved the beach, had fun family time around the firepit, went to Butte for fireworks on the 3rd, enjoyed wathching all the fireworks around the lake on the 4th, fishing was good. Good exercise walking from the water to the house...kept us in shape!! It was a family vacation memory we will never forget. Even baptized two on the grandkids in the river!! Only complaint is the road that cuts thru the property...cars FLY by...made us a little nervous with the little ones.

Bradley Familt Reunion
Arundel, West Sussex, EnglandFantastic location for a family reunion
Left on 05/07/2009 for a stay in July 2008
We used this property as a base for a family reunion, 3 sisters (with husbands and kids) met up for 10 days by the lake after a busy touring vacation in Chicago and Yellowstone National Park. Two of the sisters and their families live in England, one in New Zealand, so Montana became a 'half way round the world meeting place'. What a fabulous house!, the teenagers loved the camp fire, TV room and peddle boat. The grown ups relaxed with books on the shady beach, admired the wildlife and made cocktails on the terrace. Fab diner and grocery in Philipsburg and enough excursions to rouse us from our relaxation to get out for 3 or 4 days of explotation of the surrounding area. We have stayed in many rental homes before, both in the USA and Europe, and can honestly say that we have never had the opportunity to stay in such a thoughtfully well equipped home as this. Comfortable, furnished with care and local tradition - it was a real American family home and perfect venue for a memorable trip for our Family Reunion. Worth travelling half a world to be there..

MinnesotaWonderful home - 21" rainbow trout right off the dock!
Left on 05/07/2009 for a stay in August 2007
Three families (6 adults and 8 kids) all went together. Nice big kitchen for everyone, lake was great - kids took the peddle boat out with their life jackets on and jumped in the lake, several times!
Bedrooms are nicely furnished. My brother in law and the kids went fishing almost every day. Great people in Philipsburg gave tips on what bait to use. We took daytrips to Missoula and checked out the fair - even attended the PBR show (hey, when in Rome - right?); also drove to Whitehall one day and 10 of us went on a great horseback riding trail up in the mountains! The kids (and husbands) really enjoyed the waterslide in Anaconda and the guys went golfing at Nicklous' designed Old Works golfcourse a couple times too.
There were other renters who stopped by and asked where we got the great sand for the beach - as their rental spot just had rocks. We told them we were just renting also - but they all liked our beach. The water is nice, but it was really weedy when we went (which is why the kids jumped in out in the middle). If it was better swimming (not all weeds) off the dock - it would have been even that much better. All in all - we all had a great time!
