We wish we were there now

Left on 12/10/2012 for a stay in October 2012

We recently spent 6 wonderful days at the anahola Beach House. It was the end of a 3 and a half week holiday at a number of different places and islands, and we definitely saved the best till last! The place was immaculate and we immediately felt at home. Everything that we could think of was provided and all we had to rent was our snorkeling gear. Lynne (the owner) is great and gave us lots of hints of things to do and see. She goes far beyond what we expected - the first night we were there, a tsunami warning was issued. She came and got us and put us up at her house for the night, which was further inland!
The location of anahola is perfect: half way up the island, and so it is close to just about everywhere. Lynne told us that she has many repeat customers, and we can understand why. We hope that she can add us to that list.

Great headquarters for an authentic Kauai experience – 50 yards

Left on 06/16/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We stayed here for two weeks (my wife and I, along with our two college kids), and our appreciation that we were staying at the anahola Beach House (and not at a cookie-cutter condo or resort) grew with each passing day. The house is straightforward, well-appointed, and obviously well-cared for. It is also a bargain. We immediately noticed how clean the place was – much beyond just a passing grade. That cleanliness helped us feel immediately comfortable here, and, like I say, it just got better from there. This is not a fancy McMansion; it's a simple beach house, but all the amenities of a family home are here, and we cooked, cocktailed, and barbecued like fiends – which, even though groceries are expensive in Kauai, saved us a fortune in dining, tips, and $18 drinks. In the evenings, we enjoyed lounging around the livingroom, playing games at the kitchen table, and hanging out on the patio outside under the plumeria tree and stars. The beach is basically in your back yard, so if you don't like the steady sound of the ocean, day and night, this is not the place for you. Anahola Bay offers a large, wonderful beach known mainly to local families, surfers, and fisherpeople. Stroll through your backyard and along a little pathway and boom – the beach unfolds and the ocean rises to greet you! The mouth of the anahola River is just up the beach, the old pier and county park down-beach. The locals, neighborhood, and ocean currents here are to be respected, but they all can be wonderful and welcoming when understood correctly. When conditions are right, the ocean in anahola Bay is ideal for swimming, surfing, and boogie boarding. Once at the beach, there is really no need to have another thought – food, drink, and bathroom are right there within easy reach at the house. If you need anything, just pop up to the house and be back to the beach in a flash. This is to say, if you want some "beach days" as part of your Kauai experience, Anahola Beach House is a perfect homebase. The anahola area is a great headquarters for exploring broader Kauai too. Kapaa is ten minutes to the south, Kilauea and Princeville are about the same to the north. Ono CharBurger, a post office, and a Whaler's convenience store are just around the corner, maybe three minutes away (great for emergency provision runs). The back yard of the anahola Beach House is shared with the "Surf Shack," another rental under Lynne's management, so it's private from neighbors, but across the lawn from the Surf Shack. The yard is pleasant and large, dotted with plumeria trees. In a nutshell, my family found the Kauai experience we always wanted in this low-key anahola getaway. Hereafter, Lynne's anahola Beach House will be where you'll find us when we visit Kauai. We're going to bring friends next time and rent the Surf Shack too for the ultimate beachside enclave!

I wish we could have stayed even longer!

Left on 06/08/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This is a great and very conveniently located property. An easy place to take day trips from and so pleasant to come home to. The house is very clean! well appointed, and has most everything that you will need. Very homey and comfortable. We enjoyed the fact that it is in a neighborhood and away from the resort scene. Every morning we got up, made coffee, and took it to the beach to drink and watch the sun rise. We hit farmers markets, toured around and came home to make extravagant dinners. This is a place you will want to just chill at...the beach is so close...We all hated to leave. We have already discussed "next year". I would, and will, stay here again and have recommended it highly to anyone who will listen. How's that for enthusiasm? I should have taken some photos of just the houses but I couldn't get past the beach...and that is why we went there...the sun, the water, the beauty of the place and a really comfortable and easy place to stay.

Everything we wanted and "extras" too

Left on 04/07/2012 for a stay in March 2012

The cottage gave us a sense that we were closer to Hawaiian native culture. No hotels for miles, no nearby stores, bars or cafe's, just beautiful beach to walk, swimming and the sound of surf to sleep by. All the commercial stuff is a short drive away and fun but it's nice to come home to this hideaway.
Lynne has any information you need to have fun, and the equipment too.
The cottage was very clean and the whole property well maintained.
There are 2 cottages on the property fairly close together. We didn't mind but it's something to know. And if you hate roosters crowing in the morning, bring good earplugs.

      Perfect beach house vacation

Left on 12/29/2011 for a stay in April 2011

It's true - this house and it's location made for a perfect beach vacation. Spotless home, fully stocked with every amenity and beach toy/sport you could wish for. Down a short path and anahola bay spreads out in front of you; a seemingly private beach and a huge bay. Good breaks for newbie or boogie boarders. Some days appeared to be pretty good outer break as well. A reef protected area made for a calm and safe area for our toddler to splash around.

We stayed here for a week in april with our toddler and grandmother and everyone said it was our best vacation ever. Lynne, the owner, was fabulous - providing high chair and crib, which saved us $ and travel hassle. She keeps the home spotless, which we greatly appreciate, especially with the toddler crawling everywhere.

Location is perfect for short drive in to Kapaa town or northshore, but like us, you may find yourself meandering down the short path each morning and enjoying the amazing anahola bay all day long.

We are planning to be back again this year. It is that great.

      Fantastic beach location, spotlessly clean

Left on 03/06/2011 for a stay in February 2011

This was our 3rd trip to Kauai and easily the best place we have ever stayed on the island in terms of location, value and service. We are a couple with a toddler and it was diffficult to find a reasonably priced 2 bedroom with a beach location. This is it!

Location is perfect - the house is just steps from a magnificent palm fringed beach and Kapaa (with stores, markets and cafes galore) is an easy 10 minute drive away. We loved the proximity to the north shore also.

The house is spotless - easily the cleanest and best maintained rental we have ever seen. The photos don't do it justice, I feel - its spacious, airy and comfortable with great furnishings and all the extras like plush towels, good quality bedding etc. And the selection of beach gear provided (snorkels, chairs, parasols etc.) was amazing.

The owner, Lynne, clearly cares about her rental and her customers and it shows.

We enjoyed the peaceful location, close to a large beach

Left on 02/05/2011 for a stay in January 2011

Great place to stay, close to Kapaa plus venturing the north side of Kauai. We wanted for nothing - beach equipment, beach towels, king size bed (softest sheets), kitchen ect. Swimming at the anahola Bay, great for swimming plus boogie boarding. Enjoy the morning sunrise!!!
