A Lovely Place to Stay in a Lovely Place

Left on 09/21/2012 for a stay in September 2012

We have stayed at many bed and breakfasts during our travels over the years, and this was one of the better appointed and certainly one of most enjoyable. (You can peruse the alaska's North Country Bed & Breakfast website and other reviews for a good description of the tasteful and spotless facilities and relaxing gardens.) We lacked for nothing and greatly appreciated our hosts' good advice on road trips to take, places to visit, trails to hike, and restaurants to patronize (and to avoid). Further, Cindy and Wray's friendliness, good humor, and graciousness provided the intangible "extras" that make their Bed Breakfast a truly good place to stay. Should our travels bring us back to alaska, we plan to return to the Turnagain arm area and to the North Castle Country B&B;.

      Dream home away from home

Left on 09/16/2012 for a stay in September 2012

North Country B&B; is your dream home away from home. The house and property are equally beautiful in design and maintenance. The owners, Cindy and Wray, are not only welcoming and friendly, but they also take great interest in your stay and planned adventures while in alaska, offering their own assistance, advice, and materials to make your visit that much better.
Specifically, we stayed in their Turnigan Suite, which has it own deck for looking out over the landscape toward Turnigan arm, an immaculate bedroom/suite with sitting chairs, fireplace, and plenty of natural light, and a bathroom that is bigger than some bedrooms in itself, with a large walk-in closet, double sinks (his and hers), and a jacuzzi/bath/shower for two. We only asked for breakfast for one morning, but the amount of food they provide lasted us three mornings. For our day-trip to Seward, they provided us an audio CD for our drive south, which provided information about sites along the way as we drove along one of the many scenic highways in alaska. The B&B; is located just south of anchorage up along the hillside overlooking Turnigan arm, and is a great base location for any travels to the north or south of, or within, Anchorage. We travelled as far north as Matanuska Glacier, and as far south as Seward, and we always knew when we finished for the day we had a great place to kick back and relax for the night with absolutely zero concerns.
This is our alaska dream home away from home now, and as soon as we can plan another multi-day visit to alaska, we plan on staying at North Country Castle B&B; with Cindy and Wray again!

      Spotlessly elegant with knowledgeable hosts

Left on 07/14/2012 for a stay in June 2012

The house is beautiful, quiet, and spotless. Tvs in every room, Wi-Fi, kitchen privileges. Fun conversation when we wanted it / privacy and space when we needed that. We would have considered our accommodations perfect without the insight and assistance from Cindy and Wray Kinard, but our hosts helped us tweak our plans to fit our family's needs, the weather, local festivals that would affect traffic, and many other factors that we, as tourists, were not familiar with. It felt a bit less like being a tourist and a bit more like we had just moved to anchorage and our wonderful new friends were helping us get acclimated. Cindy spent nearly an hour on the phone with us before I had even put down a deposit. She gave us tips on activities and recommendations to make our itinerary flow more smoothly . One of her recommendations actually resulted in our departing anchorage a day early. She happily suggested it -- even though it meant North Country Castle would receive less money from our stay -- because it would make our family's travels easier. We have told our friends and family to consider nowhere else -- just call Cindy and Wray!

The drive up to alaska's North Country Castle was exciting. We saw Mama Moose and baby grazing on the land. We saw evidence where a favorite Moose visitor to the North Country Castle had eaten Cindy's hanging flower basket. We loved our stay at this warm and inviting bed and breakfast. We were in awe of the beauty that surrounded us and filled with the love and beauty of the accommodations and owners of North Country Castle. North Country Castle is a haven of peace and beauty. We had the time of our lives. Thanks.

Thank you for a wonderful surprise vacation !

Left on 03/05/2012 for a stay in August 2011

The most beautiful place in alaska!!! This is what you find when you visit Cindy and Wray Kinard at their amazing home. Everything was spectacular; from the welcome note left in the door, just in case we arrived earlier than expected- and we did- to the surprise chocolate left under pillows, or the wonderful conversation at the dinner table. Everything made a strong impression on us. We never felt more welcome than we did this past august in anchorage, Alaska. On the last morning, right before we left, I literally broke my daughter's heart. Our rooms were spotless, beautifully decorated, with gorgeous views of the Turnagain arm, and a great full moon late in the nights(really it was closer to early morning).

There isn't a day from God that we are not thinking of our lovely friends Cindy and Wray and we pray for a soon comeback. We miss our perfect breakfast at Cindy and Wray's house, we miss the peaceful life that we had there, and we miss the serenity and love in alaska. God bless you dear friends!!

North Country Castle B&B; - Alaska at It's Finest

Left on 03/03/2012 for a stay in July 2011

A quiet, secluded area where travelers are likely to see moose and other critters walk by while eating breakfast in a sunny nook. The hosts are accommodating and very knowledgeable about the entire area and are willing to provide any information the guests desire on places to go and things to see. For those guests wanting to avail themselves for the full B&B; experience, the breakfasts are always a treat and special diets are not a problem as long as the inn keepers know in advance. The accommodations are superior, especially the wonderful master suite. Anyone enjoying the atmosphere of a B&B; would do well to stay in this one. For those guests wanting a home away from home for an extended period of time, North Country Castle B&B; fulfills every need. The accommodations are spacious enough that anyone, families/traveling friends, can comfortably stay a week, a month or even six months. With access to kitchen and laundry amenities, what else could a guest need for an extended stay in complete comfort!

      The Perfect B

Left on 03/01/2012 for a stay in June 2011

Our wonderful stay at North Country Castle was the "icing on the cake” of our fabulous alaska vacation. Under the masterful stewardship of Cindy and Wray Kinard, North Country Castle was beautifully and pristinely maintained, inside and out. The tasteful Turnagain Suite, with its private deck, lovely view, comfy bed, cozy fireplace, and luxurious bath couldn't have been more perfect. Never intrusive, but always ready to answer a question or offer a suggestion, Cindy and Wray displayed their hospitality and careful anticipation of their guests' needs in every way. They made us feel right at home, and I've more than once heard myself say that, had we lived nearby, the Kinards would be close friends. Don't miss the opportunity to stay at North Country Castle!
