Access to this first-floor apartment is through the tall arched doorway facing the back garden and up a staircase shared with La Suite. The door to the right at the top of the stairs opens to a short corridor off of which are a living room / eat-in kitchen with double sofa-bed and corner fireplace, and two double bedrooms and a shower room. Across the landing from L'Armeria is a large living area open to all guests with a settee and armchairs, as well as the original fireplace and modern heater.

This beautiful corner of eastern Tuscany overlooking the wide Tiber valley was fought over by powerful city-states and gave birth to painters s...uch as Michelangelo and Piero della Francesca in the glory days of the early Renaissance. While nothing quite as tumultuous happens these days at Borgo Anghiari, time spent at this serene farm estate may well make for a wonderful family holiday. For starters, the vistas are glorious and the five apartments in a hill-top structure that encompasses a large 18th century country house and its former oil mill, share views of the vast olive groves, vineyards and secular forests that surround it. Once ventured off the 35 hectare estate, wandering the streets of the nearby medieval walled town of Anghiari is a treat, for its artisans and antiquarians have made it famous and their work, as well as the bright checkered tablecloths that denote a place to stop and sample the locale cuisine, will easily fill the day with pleasurable "slow living". Also close at hand are the cultural beauties of Sansepolcro and Arezzo, towns immortalized by Piero della Francesca, and many opportunities for those who don't mind a bit of activity: canoeing, fishing, horseback riding; in or along the Tiber. This is an area that easily adapts itself to your level of energy, and surely one that guarantees a holiday well spent.

  Our stay was a dream come true. Our home was lovely and Lucca was the perfect host. The pool was refreshing and completely enjoyed and appreciated by us all. The countryside is magical. Well located, Sienna, Florence, Assisi, Cartona are not far away at all. Tuscany is beautiful but the warmth and welcome of Lucca made an opportunity of a lifetime perfect.
