Description

Plan now for your Annecy vacation. This 1930s apartment is charming, correct and close to everything. The old world Saturday morning open air market across the street contrasts with the modern shopping just down the block. The famous canalled 14th century Old Towne Annecy is a five minute walk from the apt. At 400 meters the crystal clear Lac Annecy offers a beautiful park, swimming, and other outdoor activities. Mountains surround the lake and city. This apt. is IN Annecy, not in a town NEAR Annecy. Annecy is a great base city for day skiing or cycling tours. There are several ski stations 30 minutes away. Chamonix, Grenoble and Albertville are all within one hour. A biking path goes around the lake if cycling is what you are looking for. Of course, if someone wants a day off, Annecy is a wonderful town to explore. All year long.

The apartment is quite comfortable. The kitchen, bathroom and WC are all updated. (The WC update will be complete end of March 2019.) There are two bedrooms; one with a queen size bed, one with two singles. There is also third room (tv/office) with flat-screen tv and fold out sleeper for two to accommodate larger groups. In addition to the sleeping areas there is a spacious living/dining space with an extendable dining table. (Six Tolix dining chairs as a nod to the French designer Pauchard and the 1930s.) During the summer months take advantage of the outdoor garden area with table and chairs. The apartment is easy to reach, it's on an elevated ground floor (meaning it's accessible, but secure). Wireless internet is provided. There is off street parking as well.

Our family lived in Annecy for three years and purchased this property prior to returning to Iowa, where we are from. We have a management company that cleans and provides fresh linens and towels for each of our guests. We, or our management team are also available if needed. There is a self check-in to accommodate late or early arrivals.

Getting around

Walking is convenient from the apartment. Grocery, dining, the lake, markets and more are all within walking distance. The train station and main bus station are also within a ten minute walk. There is a bus stop right outside of the apartment. My husband and I don't normally rent a car when we stay at the apartment. We arrive either by TGV from Paris or, if we fly into Geneva, we arrange for a driver to meet us and drive us to Annecy.

Interaction with guest

The interaction with guests is primarily through email. There is an Annecy based manager for emergencies. The apartment will be prepared for your arrival and you will receive a code to the lock-box on the exterior of the building. There is also a land-line phone inside the apartment that renters are welcome to use and may contact me either by phone, or email. There is also a Welcome Book which answers most questions about the apartment and provides general information about Annecy. House rules

The apartment works well for a couple or a family. This is an apartment in a building of ten apartments. It is important to be respectful of other building occupants and generally it is quiet after 9pm. The patio is wonderful for nightcaps, but please keep the volume down. :)
Pets must be approved prior to booking.
There is a cleaning fee charged but it primarily covers the provided linens and towels. There is a check-out cleaning list which also needs to be done.
