Santa Rosa. CaliforniaPerfect beautiful antigua home
Left on 04/19/2013 for a stay in March 2013
We fell in love with this house the moment we walked through the door. It was everything we hoped for and more. And Carlos was the most hospitable and gracious host I have met in all of my travels. He made sure that we had all that we needed and was there for us with any questions and concerns. If we travel to antigua again I would want to come back to this perfect and beautiful house. Thank you again Carlos for your generosity and hospitality.

Hi Nannette,
I'm glad you were able to enjoy the house and rest after your mission in Guatemala. I really appreciate your hard work and dedication to this country (Nannette and her friends volunteered time and work at a local hospital in rural Guatemala) Please remember my offer next time you come to Guatemala. Sincerely, Carlos -

My two girlfriends and I recently stayed at Carlos's beautiful home in antigua. The entrance welcomed us into a wonderful open garden filled with flowering trees and plants. The kitchen is spacious and fully equipped. It is open to the living and dining areas so made entertaining comfortable. I really liked the proximity to the main square which was a 5-10 minute walk. Carlos was a gracious host and available to help us navigate our way around this amazing city. I highly recommend this rental and look forward to my next stay.

My daughter had made a reservation at Carlos' house for my son and I who were staying in antigua for 4 nights. She had found his house on Tripadvisor and will be staying there this summer. Our flight from the states was landing late and we were staying in Guatemala City prior to leaving for Lake atitlan first, and then later antigua. Carlos agreed to meet us at the airport and take us to our hotel just so we could put a name with a face and tell us about his house that we would be staying at later in the week. This was our first indication of what a wonderful man and host he is.
The house was immaculate and very comfortable. It is fully equipped if you wanted to cook all your meals there. It is centrally located to the market, restaurants, bakeries, and other areas of interest. I would highly recommend it to anyone interest in staying there.
What Carlos and Nancy didn't have to do but demonstrates their wonderful character is to help me with a horrible crisis. I had lost my passport in Lake atitlan and needed to get to the us Embassy to obtain a replacement before I left. I am a 78 year old woman, who walks with a cane or uses a wheelchair for long distances. My son sent an e-mail to Carlos inquiring about what would be the best way to get to Guatemala City to take care of this. We had assumed we would use a taxi or shuttle and were just looking for a recommendation. Carlos called me at the Lake and said he would help with anything he could. He investigated what was needed on the us Embassy website and when we arrived in antigua, met us and insisted he take us the next morning. He waited while it took several hours to process. On the way back to antigua, he and Nancy stopped at a local department store as I had forgotten some essential clothes and Nancy went in and bought them for me.
I cannot say enough wonderful things about Carlos and Nancy and the care they took of me and my son. I would highly recommend them and their house to anyone!

Carlos did absolutely everything to make our stay in Guatemala enjoyable including driving us to the us Embassy in Guatemala City after my mom lost her passport. Thanks Carlos. He also picked us up at the airport and drove us to our nearby hotel as it was very late at night. He also arranged transportation from antigua to the airport and met us at the airport to assure that we made it home safe. All instances were greatly appreciated as mom is handicapped, making travel difficult.
The house was very nice. It is built around a courtyard and has a very open feel. It is located off the main street so noise was never a problem and is about 4 blocks from La Merced. I enjoyed watching life pass by from the roof!

My wife and I stayed here with another couple and their baby in January of 2013. Carlos and Nancy were very hospitable and welcoming. The house itself is on a safe and quiet street, away from the noise of the center of the city, yet close enough to walk anywhere. The rooftop is great and so are all of the room. Thank you for a great stay!

Ottawagreat house in safe neighborhood
Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013
We just returned from a 4 week stay in this house in antigua. I have nothing but praise for Carlos and Nancy who were so helpful in a number of matters. We are senior citizens who had some reservations about going to Guatemala. We found antigua to be very safe and welcoming and this house to be perfect for our needs. It is in a safe neighborhood and conveniently located close to everything - 10 minutes to the market, 12 minutes to the supermarket ( Bodagona) and 5 minutes to 3 of the top 10 restaurants on trip advisor. This house has everything you need and if there are any questions, Nancy and Carlos are there with the answers. The courtyard/patio with the bougainvillea is charming as is the view from the roof top terrace. Great Wi-Fi and 100 cable channels on three Tv's including English French and German programming .
If you plan to study Spanish, the house is just 5 minutes from our language school, Proyecto Lingustico Francisco Maroquin (Plfm), which we would also highly recommend.

Last Xmas, we spent a week at is beautiful colonial home in La antigua. The house is in a great location in a quiet street near the market. Everyday we walked to the market and bought amazing fruits and flowers. The house was super clean, is quite spacious and has all you may need. The owner is very friendly and welcoming and he helped us to have a fantastic stay in La antigua.

The house is situated just right. Not too far from the central park, restaurants, and activities but far enough where you don't have to hear all the noise in case you want to get some quiet R&R.; Nancy and Carlos (owners) were great at making sure we were okay and had everything we needed. We had a great time and would definitely return. Thank you again Carlos and Nancy!

Left on 01/21/2013 for a stay in January 2013
We stayed at the Spanish Colonial Style house from December 29 through January 11, 2013 with very good freinds. My friend Celia handled all the arrangements of finding the house, discussing costs, which was reasonable. The home was clean and centrally located. The owner had the cleaning lady come twice during our stay and she did our laundry (this was included as part of the cost). The house was close to the arco and on several occassions we would walk to the downtown area. Unless you know the area, I would not walk alone at night. New Years eve was a blast. So many people and to my surprise there were no "out of controlers".
If I had any recommendations, it would be to provide guests with a hair dryer. I forgot mine and went without one for 11 days...ugh!! I would have bought one there, but the cost did not warrant the purchase. Other than that, Antigua is a beautiful place to visit.Response from Carlos Santacruz - 01/21/2013
Owner
Hi Luz, Thank You for leaving this review on the house. I'm sorry about your predicament with the 'hair dryer' I will act on your suggestion. I wish you would have told me about it and we would have provided one for you. I called a couple of times to make sure things were going okay for you. Unfortunately no one mentioned anything about it.
Thanks again for your time and feedback. I wish you the best in the new year. I'm glad you had a good time in Antigua. Sincerely, Carlos -

Carlos went above and beyond expectations to ensure the group was comfortable with the area, knowledgeable about the home and aware of any possible circumstances we may have encountered. He was one phonecall away at all times and treated us more like family than customers. The home was immaculant and provided easy access to all areas of the city. I highly recommend this home to everyone who wants a absolute memorable stay in antigua.

We had an amazing trip to antigua and this home was exactly what we needed. The home is precious. All of the rooms open to a beautiful courtyard with bright flowers. The kitchen is large and well equipped with a spacious dining room and living room. Our family was all able to gather for meals and to spend time together. The terrace on the roof has great views and is private (but would be even better with a fabulous hammock!). The bedrooms each have 2 beds so fitting all 6 people in was no problem at all, we had more than enough room.
I can't say enough great things about Carlos and Nancy, they were amazing hosts! Nancy was at the home to greet us and give us a rundown on the area and make sure we were comfortable in the house. When my mom became ill on the the trip Carlos quickly helped us find a good doctor right by the house and checked up on us often.
The location was perfect for us. Easily walkable to all of the city attractions but not so close to the center that weekend traffic or noise was a problem. I would return here in a heartbeat!

Left on 05/29/2012 for a stay in May 2009
Arriving in antigua for the first time and being escorted to this remarkable home was truly an unexpected treat. Sure, you see pictures, brochures, but nothing prepares you for when you actually arrive. It is a classic, you cannot judge a book by it's cover. From the street, I thought, this is not like the brochure, but once the doors opened and I stepped through the threshold, I thought, no, this is not like the brochure, this is so much better than I had expected! Classic vaulted ceilings, wonderful tile floors, stylish & comfortable furnishings made for a much needed and welcomed retreat. This is the kind of place where you can spend the whole day reading a favorite novel or strike out to visit the cities many shops and restaurants. Not only do you feel at home, you know you are going to want to return as soon as you can! Thank you Carlos, you made my stay in antigua an experience to remember and relive again & again.

Guatemala cityPerfect town, perfect house, wonderful time.
Left on 05/29/2012 for a stay in April 2012
I always wanted to spend Easter in antigua Guatemala and after long walks was very important to have a comfortable, quiet and nice place to rest. I personally loved the house, but more importantly my mom also did,big kitchen, dining room and spacious bathrooms she had nothing to complain about. For my part I had nothing more to ask, big garage, comfortable facilities, garden and rooms to relax all day if I wanted, it was just flawless.
At the end,it was the perfect combination a homely house in a homely town where time stopped. I wish it was that way so I never had to leave antigua.
