This beautifully restored aristocratic villa is to be found in the sought after village of Ardales, the gateway to the area known as the Andalucian lake district. Situated in a quiet street leading off from the attractive main village square full of local shops and tapas bars, this villa has everything a large family or party could wish for- plenty of space, privacy, peace and tranquillity and a private swimming pool. Yet the bars, restaurants, shops and banks are all within 2 minutes walk of your front door. The accommodation consists of 4 large bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, modern kitchen, lounge, dining-room, laundry, pretty courtyard with sweet... smelling flowering plants leading through the original stables to a beautiful private pool and BBQ area with mountain views.

This property is ideal for a large family or a party of walkers, climbers or mountain bikers. The area is ideal for all these activities and the large entrance vestibule provides an ideal location to store bikes.

Accessibility: Malaga airport is 40minutes drive away which has regular services from most UK airports. Many of these offer cheap flights from the budget airlines.

Alternatively, you could consider using Granada airport, which is only 90 minutes drive away (very easy route on good roads), which now has some extremely cheap flights from some UK airports.

Seville airport is also a possiblity, but is a little further- approx 2 hours drive.

Activities: This area of Andalucia is ideal for walking, bird-watching, rock-climbing and mountain-biking.

There are some wonderful walks straight from the village into the surrounding mountains, or trails in the mountains of Ardales National Park or in the Sierra de las Nieves.

For bird-watchers, a trip to Fuente de Piedra (45 mins drive) is a must, this being the largest European breeding area for flamingos.

El Chorro, in Ardales National Park, is one of the most famous European rock-climbing areas, boasting over 650 climbs. Most are hard climbs, which is why El Chorro attracts climbers from all over the world. Because of the weather, rock climbing is possible all year round, although there is a possibility of snow in winter.

Mountain bikers will be in their element on the scenic routes around the Ardales National Park or on the ride over the Sierra de Las Nieves to Ronda. A specialist shop in El Chorro hires bikes and offers guided tours.

Ardales is only 40mins from Malaga airport and the Costa del Sol resorts. Yet here you are in a different world.-The real Spain. Ardales is abuzz with life. In the evenings, young and old promenade around the plaza, stopping to enjoy a wine and tapas at one of the many bars which have tables overflowing onto the plaza.
The view of Ardales at night, with its ruined castle and impressive church perched high on a mountain crag brings back memories of the fairy-tale stories of your childhood. A 5min drive takes you to the turquoise lakes central to the National Park of Ardales (the Andalucian lake district- Spain´s best kept secret.) Here you can hire pedalos, canoes and sun beds and swim in the clear water. A little further afield you will find Ronda, Granada and Seville, all steeped in the history of Andalucia. The resorts of Marbella, Benalmadena,Torremolinos and Gibraltar are all within 90 mins drive
