Spent a happy week, good weather helped. Great view from lounge and spent lots of time relaxing over meals watching the boats and wildlife coming and going. Liked Tayvallich, small and quiet but has shop and good restaurant/pub. Lots of good walking, views and cycling. Would happily return another year and see how the beavers are getting on and take the day ferry to Jura. Cottage very comfortable with adequate facilites. Kitchen well equiped though would benefit from a hob extractor.

We loved every moment of our holiday in Tayvallich. Perfect, peaceful village by the water with the activity afloat providing lots to see. Loved the local pub and tearoom. Knap Cottage had all we needed and the views from inside were superb. Spent many a happy hour outside (we had great weather too!) in the garden. Can't wait to come back.
Views to die for!

Tayvallich is one of the prettiest villages in Scotland, and this cottage has the most wonderful views of the bay you can possibly imagine! I spent hours in the garden during the day admiring the views, and many at night too looking through the huge windows at the front of the cottage. Sooo relaxing! The cottage has everything you could possibly need for a family holiday. The kitchen was so well equipped that I felt I was at home, and we all loved the real fire in the lounge. Wonderfully cosy at night! Dad and the boys went out on the canoe in the bay and surrounding lochs, and I loved the walk to the churchyard at Keills, and was rewarded with spectacular views of an otter searching for food on the beach there. The Tayvallich Inn is the "jewel in the crown" of the village and serves scrumptious food... We will certainly be back. Was reluctant to write this review as we really don't want too many people to know about this cottage...!
One of the perfect places

Prior to arrival, everything worked well; the agents were excellent with the transaction and instructions.
Looking on Google Earth/ Streetview, the bungalow can be spotted fairly easily.
The cottage itself- well, bungalow- was very clearly a home until recently, as it is all fully equipped and not lacking anything one could need. Decoration and furniture all lovely and relaxing, two very nice sized bedrooms, a lovely double with vanity unit, and a twin spacious enouh for my two children not to fight. Big sitting room, nice kitchen and the bonus of a separate dining area. Also, which is often missed, plenty of room for loose stuff to dry and so on out of the way. Lovely front patio with a view to die for.
Then there's the position; literally across the-very quiet- road from the bungalow is the harbour, a protected spur off Loch Sween. This harbour has an odd double high tide, and is wonderful for canoeing or any other boating, with plenty of places to launch, water warm in late august. Plenty of waterlife for the kids. Locally, lots of walking possible, and plenty of things within easy reach; easily enough for a fortnight.
The owners live next door, and are very nice, not intrusive but there if you want them. Useful phone for incoming calls, which is good, as we had no mobile signals inside a couple of miles.
Good value rates, we felt. All in all, at the very top end of all the self-catering places we've stayed in. One to which we definitely want to return.
