Since owners were not on property during our stay, emailed them prior to this posting. Website photos did not accurately depict accommodations and Mr. Saltiel said website photos were non contractual, using the lame excuse because they move furniture around. Everything was tired and worn. Mr. Saltiel pointed out, that I did not register these complaints initially. Both he and his wife were not present and left one staff member(that spoke English) in charge. It would be like killing the messenger. What we could see of the owners' residence was was vast improvement over their rentals.

Paying the total rental fees upfront is standard in France and we had no complaints about it after nearly 20 years of operations. When it was time to pay the balance, a month prior to arrival, you did it spontaneously without any observation. Moreover, we prize ourselves to write as many information as possible on our website and very often people, particularly Americans, say that what they see is better than our website description. Instead of the Gauguin accommodation with three bedrooms and two bathrooms on the first floor, you have been offered the Cezanne with three bedrooms and three bathrooms at the garden level. You have been upgraded.
We have now and then replaced very common furniture like the IKEA one by anciant furniture purchased at antique shops. This is an improvement.
The other reviews are more in line with what we offer and who we are.

My husband and I spent three nights here in the Manguin apartment and found it so enjoyable and relaxing, it was difficult to leave to see the sights. Cheerful Fabienne greeted us with great warmth and was most concerned that we were comfortable and assisted us with all our questions. The place itself is delightfully furnished with everything you could need. There is even a charcoal grill and patio table and chairs on the balcony that overlooks the garden. The pool, hidden by a hedge, is huge and has many lounge chairs. I am sure this has to be the best place to stay - we would love to come again and will recommend it to our friends!

      Perfect home base in arles

Left on 10/13/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Domaine de La Tourette is an ideal spot for a home base to visit Provence. Arles is minutes away. All the major sights-Nimes, Pont du Gard, Avignon, San Remy, Les Baux, and the Rhone wine country are no more than 40-60 minutes by car. Our one bedroom apartment was very nice: tastefully appointed, a good bed, lots of hot water, a washing machine, and an adequate kitchen for cooking meals. The grounds are lovely. The pleasant girl in reception was most helpful. The owners live on the property-always an added feature. They are very pleasant. Minutes from arles, it is close to both fresh markets and supermarkets.

      Truly a wonderful experience

Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in August 2012

We stayed for a week and toured the surrounding area in Provence. Location was great, convenient to all amenities and key visitor attractions. The unit was advertised as a two bedroom and two bathroom unit. The apartment was lovely, very functional and lots of character with the stone walls and wood beams. The bathrooms were not set up in north american style; one bathroom included a tub and sink and washer for clothes, no dryer. the other bathroom included a shower and a very small sink (tough to use). The toilet was in a separate closet, which was fine. Having said that, the rest of the rooms were great. While there was no air conditioning, the evenings were cool and the stone walls helped to keep the temperature stable, as long as you kept windows closed during the hot summer days. The property is amazing and the property owners take great pride and care in the maintenance and cleaniness of the place. The fig tree was full of ripe fruit and the groundskeeper picked them and gave us a basket full. There is a beautiful pool area and other amenties for those travelling with children. The grocery stores and bakeries are great, there are small and large markets with fruit, vegies, wonderful cheeses, breads, pastries and great wines. As for the location, a trip to avignon is a must, as is a day trip to aix, Le Baux, Isles sur la Sorgues and the market in Egalieres on Friday. As for wine tasting, an afternoon in Chatneauf de Pape area wineries was lovely. After a wonderful week in Provence, we headed to St. Maxime, which put the cherry on the sundae...lovely town on the Cote d'Azur. Great restaurants and shopping and a short drive to St. Tropez, St. Raphael and Cannes...a must see. All said and done, I would return to Moulin de la Roque again and highly recommend it to friends. Truly a wonderful experience!

Erholsamer Familienurlaub in einer tollen Landschaft

Left on 09/09/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Not bad, but wouldn't return again

Left on 09/01/2012 for a stay in July 2012

Our party of 5 stayed 6 nights at Domaine de la Tourette in the Van Goh room. The accomodation was practical, but not very comfortable. The kitchen was quite small with very limited storage. Cooking utensils and supplies were sparse. A previous review mentioned the poor wi-fi signal and we found this to be true as well. We got the best signal out on the patio. The plastic furniture on the patio could be upgraded for a more comfortable experience. The main bedroom and bed were fine. Other members of our party found the guest bed in the larger room to be very uncomfortable. Our biggest complaint was the lack of space for our entire group to sit down and visit. The patio worked well during the day, but in the evening a person would need to wear a bee keepers uniform to keep the mosquito's at bay. The yard does have a park like setting and we found the pool area to be nice and a relief in the afternoon. The hosts get mixed reviews. We found Beatrice and Phillip to be welcoming and friendly in some respect, but on other occasions they could be short and less than helpful, strange. Our visit in early July was timed with the flooding of the rice fields and drew a zillion mosquito's. I would choose to visit this area of France at a different time of year and would choose a different accomodation as well.

We are grateful to our guest for having taken the time to indicate some improvements. We just regret that these observations were not indicated the day after arrival since we always react promptly. In this case, the requested cooking utensils could have been provided, and comfortable deckchairs too since they were available just below the patio. For the WIFI we had decided to put a stronger terminal. For the ancient bed in the mezzanine which is a bit short, we will replace it by two longer beds. The kitchen is not planned to accomodate 5 or 6 persons since there is a round table in the living room for this purpose.
We are glad that you enjoyed our large swimming pool and this area in France.

      Comfort and convenience near arles

Left on 06/16/2012 for a stay in May 2012

This is a wonderful place to stay. The apartments are large, well furnished, and well maintained, and the owners, who both speak English well, are helpful and generous. Tourette is handy to both arles and Nimes, and two bakeries are just a mile or so away for breakfast purchases. There is a large pool and the windows all have screens. Kitchens are large and well equipped, and there is a nice grill at each apartment. Very fast WiFi service is included and place is very quiet at night. The Camargue and ocean beaches are very close. Excellent vale here and great comfort.

      Ideal Vacation Base

Left on 05/28/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We spent 6 days at Domaine de la Tourette (the unit featured here - Van Gogh) this spring, and found it to be the perfect base for our exploration of Provence. It is centrally located, with many worthwhile sites within a drive of an hour or two. Because of the rural location, this rental is most useful for those with a vehicle at their disposal.

As you can see from the photos, the unit is very charming. We found the bed in the master bedroom to be comfortable. We had friends who stayed with us for several nights, and they said the bed in the second bedroom was okay. There is also a small bed located in a loft above the master bedroom. None of us were curious enough to climb up and check it out. The master bedroom is very spacious, and down a short hallway you will find a room with a generously-sized tub, separate shower, and a sink. There is no toilet in this room. The only toilet is in the other bathroom, which is located off the kitchen and near to the second bedroom. This bathroom also has a combination bathtub/shower, a sink, and a washing machine so you can do laundry. (There is no clothes dryer, you will have to hang your clothes on the line to dry them).

The kitchen is small, but it has a refrigerator with freezer, a dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, and a stove top. Neither my husband or I can remember if there was an actual oven. The kitchen also contains a small marble-topped table which served as a food prep area since there is only a small bit of counter space. There is a separate dining room, which is also the room where you enter the unit.

The Wi-Fi signal was not great in this unit. We usually found the best signal from the second bedroom or sitting on the deck.

These are not luxury accommodations, but they are comfortable, cozy, and charming. Domaine de la Tourette was exactly the kind of place I was looking for when I was planning our vacation, so I was very happy with it.

I would also like to mention that we received very helpful information about where groceries could be purchased, recommended restaurants in the area, etc.

      Beautiful, Comfortable, Convenient and Quiet

Left on 04/13/2012 for a stay in April 2012

My wife and I stayed 9 nights in late March and early april. The grounds and apartment were just as advertised; spacious, beautiful and with the convenience of a clothes washer, refrigerator and freezer. It was cool outside in the night when we stayed but our apartment was heated comfortably and we didn't need to adjust it.

Our bed was comfortable. My wife often has problems with back and hip pain when sleeping on hotel beds but she was quite happy with our bed at Tourette.

The location is quiet, off the roadway. There's the sound of birds in the morning to wake you up. Or you can close the shutters and sleep late.

We flew from the States with just carry-on bags, so we needed to do a small load of clothes in the washer every couple of days. The washer was fine and drying was easy in the warm dry air. The refrigerator and freezer are small but worked well and were more than adequate. There was also a dishwasher which we didn't use, just being the two of us.
Everything was excellent, but maid service isn't part of the deal. You have to clean up after yourself.

This Place was Paradise in Provence

Left on 10/27/2011 for a stay in October 2011

The owners and staff were extremely professional, responsive and helpful both as we planned our trip and during our stay. The outdoor setting - huge park with beautiful trees and pool - could not have been lovelier or better maintained. The accommodations - independent housing with all needed indoor amenities and charming terrace outside for our own use - were very clean, cozy, and a great pleasure to come home to after a day of touring. The location is excellent - it allows excellent access to other points of interest in Provence, but means you don't have to trouble with city traffic as you leave in the morning or return later on. This was indeed Paradise in Provence, and at a price we found very reasonable. We would not hesitate to return ourselves or to recommend it without reservation to anyone who wants a wonderful base from which to travel in Provence.

Summer holidays 2011 at Domaine de la Tourette (Provence, France

Left on 08/07/2011 for a stay in July 2011

Domaine de la Tourette is very well located to easily explore French Provence. A car is required in any case -no public transport. The Domaine is 3 km outside of Fourques, a village where you find two (good) boulangeries and other basic services. Arles is nearby only 10 minutes by car.

The Domaine is a superb place to relax in a vast shady garden which is well looked after and in an excellent shape. Listening to all day-long chirping of cicadas and looking into plane trees already gives you a cosy background for your mediterranean holidays.
Next attraction is the large pool (roughly 14m by 5m) which is also in a very good condition and a superb place to sun-bath or to swim. There were even barbecue facilities next to the pool (which we did not use).

Our appartement (Gaugin) is furnished in Provencale-style with all facilities needed. We especially liked the well equipped kitchen.

The hospitality of the owners was warm and open - we allways felt very well received.

There is lovely landscaping and the swimming pool is welcome after a hot day's touring. Mme and Monsieur are very helpful when planning excursions. Beatrice Saltiel is especially knowledgeable in the history of the area from the Romans forward. The tranquility of their countryside home, pool and gardens was very appealing.
