Ideal for touring the Beaujolais vineyards

Left on 10/19/2012 for a stay in September 2011

Normally we stay every year on our tour of France, but had to give it a miss this year(2012) in a bit of a hurry to get to Calais.
Chateau, shabby chic. Easy to get to plenty to see in the area of famous names in wine.. You can stay in the renovated rooms surrounding the old courtyard or like us elect to stay in the chateau itself.. Your hosts & dogs welcome you with enthusiasm.if you are fortunate to be staying when an evening meal is being offered, do stay & enjoy the mix, I doubt that you will regret it. Failing that there is a host of resteraunts in the area to suit every palette..ask anyone where Clochmerle is ( some of you might remember the tv series of the '70,s ) well worth a visit & some great food to be enjoyed in the local eateries.

      Relaxed elegance in Beaujolas

Left on 06/12/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Exactly as advertised. Gracious, unprentious owners, fluent English speakers, terrific local dining and touring recommendations. Stayed in recently renovated coach house, one 2 bedroom upstairs with loft, one 1 bedroom downstairs. Happily used, but clean furnishings, comfy new beds, modern bathrooms. Small 2 burner stove with fridge in modestly stocked kitchen. Homemade jam and wine available. Wi fi works well. Common areas in main chateau and groomed grounds open to all guests, as well as walks through the surrounding vineyards. Easily access from highway, 20 min north of Lyon. Great base for exploring Beaujolas, Burgundy, northern Rhone.

      great memories of Longsard

Left on 08/10/2011 for a stay in July 2011

If you wish to go off the beaten track in the French countryside, Longsard in the Beaujolais is a great choice. Perfect in many ways, this property and its hospitable owners - Olivier and Alexandra - will offer you so much more than just a place to stay. You can choose between rooms in the Chateau or suites in the coach-house - either choice will bring a well balanced mix of history and modern comfort. The magnificent Lebanese cedars and the linden tree alleys will most likely take your breath away and, who knows, might make you want to come back. It made us, and we will surely return to Longsard!

History, wine and pleasure in the Beaujolais region.

Left on 06/09/2011 for a stay in June 2011

We spent a delightful four days and three nights at the Chateau and thoroughly enjoyed our stay with our charming and friendly hosts. From the moment we arrived we received their full warmth and attention, which extended to enjoying the Chateau's wine in the evening and a delightful dinner on Saturday night with the other guests. Alexandra and Olivier provided us with excellent information with regards to the region, enabling us to enjoy a truely original and enjoyable tour of the Beaujolais region. Our daughter also enjoyed the company of their lovely border collies and Sushi, the cat. We would highly recommend staying at the Chateau where you will enjoy being steeped in the history of this remarkable region of France.
