A beautiful 3-4-bedroom, 3-bath 2400-sq.ft. cabin located in Arnold's Blue Lake Springs Recreation Area, Sophie's Castle is an easy drive from the San Francisco Bay Area, and a 30-minute drive to Alpine Lake and Bear Valley's Summer Music Festival and winter skiing-snowboarding playgrounds. Enjoy this comfortable and spacious cabin, with plenty of room for a relaxing vacation retreat with family and friends.... The Castle is well equipped with secure WiFi, Comcast phone service, large-screen TV, and games for the family to enjoy. There is plenty of level off-street parking.

For golfing enthusiasts, the private Sequoia Woods Country Club and Golf Course -- located in a scenic setting, surrounded by beautiful sequoia redwoods, cedars, Douglas firs and sugar pines (the tree with the really really big cones) -- is located less than a half mile from The Castle; it offers a private 18-hole golf course and Pro shop, a driving range, a swimming pool, and a restaurant. The Blue Lake Springs Recreation Center features a restaurant, club house, swimming pool, tennis courts, table tennis, shuffle board, basketball, and two private fresh-water lakes. The Castle's guests have full guest privileges at both facilities, for nominal guest fees. In town, Arnold's White Pine Lake offers freshwater lake swimming. Visit the historical Lumber Museum. Dine at Sarafina's Italian Kitchen, a gem in the woods -- and a real winner anywhere. Enjoy a big breakfast at Suzie's Diner before you embark on your day's adventures.

Calaveras Big Trees State Park is about four miles uphill on Route 4 from the Blue Lake Springs turnoff. Columbia State Park, a restored western gold-rush town the entire family can enjoy, and the town of Murphys, offering extensive opportunities for wine tasting, are a convenient drive from Arnold. Lake Tahoe and Yosemite National Park (valley floor or Tuolumne Meadows) are enjoyable day trips. Jamestown's Railroad Museum and Sacramento, California's State Capitol, are close by. Sacramento has many interesting places to vist on a day trip, including the State Railroad Museum, Old Towne Sacramento, and many other museums and Capitol tours. There are boating and fishing opportunities on New Melones Lake in Angels Camp; and plenty of other places for lake and stream fishing, swimming, bicycling, hiking, cavern exploring (spelunking), painting, photography, wine tasting and motor touring - or for just doing nothing!

The Second Bedroom is perfect for the younger ones, including a trundle 2x-single-bed, a bunk-bed with a single bed on top and double bed on the bottom. The Fourth Bedroom/Den/Office can be your office away from home; it also has a double bed for those two extra guests. On the lower level, you will find the Third Bedroom with a queen bed, full size bathroom; and a laundry room. Arnold, CA sits on California's Route 4 running east-west over the Sierra Nevada mountains' Ebbetts Pass. The village of Arnold is primarily a vacation area, with several developed areas. The Blue Lake Springs area lies at the east or uphill end of town. The Blue Lake Springs Area (BLS) consists of several hundred cabins nestled among towering Sugar Pines, Douglas Firs, Cedars, and other evergreen trees.
