We can't wait to go back!
We've been home from aruba for 4 days and we already miss it so much! The hospitality of Luis and Karen can not be topped! They added such a personal touch to our vacation. Abb is in a great location, especially if you like to snorkel/swim. The accommodations are simple but very clean and met any needs that we had for our stay, including snorkel gear and a hammock! There were enough kitchen tools/appliances to make simple meals for breakfast and lunch. We enjoyed dinner out at some fabulous aruban restaurants. We rented a car, which is must if you stay in this location, and found it very easy to get from aBB to both Baby Beach as well as in to town and to the North side resorts/beaches. We went to the resort beaches 1 day and were so happy to be able to leave and go back to our quiet cabana by the sea. The only problem that we had were the mosquitos that were out in the morning. It made it somewhat hard to sit outside on our porch to enjoy the breeze, but, we just took a couple of chairs and walked right across the street to the ocean front. We truly enjoyed our stay and can not wait to return!

Welcoming and relaxing!!
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at aruba Bed & Beach. We found the cabana to be comfortable and clean. It was also delightful to see that the ocean was directly across the street and a local beach was within very close walking distance.
We were also delighted to have a lovely bottle of wine along with cheese and crackers awaiting us. Our hosts were more than hospitable. Letting us in on some home - island secrets where good food and company could be found.
We've rebooked for next year! Thank you Karin and Louis for a wonderful stay!!!

Paradise on the Spanish Lagoon
First and foremost, enough can't be said about the hospitality we received from owners Karin and Luis... they are among some of the most giving people we have met on any holiday we have taken thus far. We were greeted by Karin when we arrived, she showed us to our cabana which was better than we expected.. very clean and oh so cozy. They even have a bottle of wine, cheese and crackers waiting for us in the fridge. We couldn't wait to get settled in and explore!. Karin and Luis were kind enough to drive us to the grocery store for some groceries, which we very much appreciated. We couldn't have found a better place to stay as we were right across the road from one of the best snorkeling spots on the island!!(in our opinion). No need to pay for a tour when it's basically right at your door step!It was so nice to not be in the touristy area. We watched the beautiful sunsets every night from across the road .. there were Kayak's, snorkel gear, beach chairs, beach towels, etc there for our use if we so chose to use them. We rented a car (suggested that you do), and so glad we did.. We drove to every piece of that island that little car would allow us to. I could go on and on, but will let you all discover yourselves, the piece of paradise that we will so be returning to very soon. Thank you so much Karin and Luis for all the information and being our tour guide a couple times!!. (and not to forget.. Jada, 99, Katusha, Toby, Teela, Max, and Ducet for the visits :) We will be one of your returning vacationers! Can't wait :)
Fabulous cabana, excellent location, and super fun hosts!!!
Aruba Bed & Beach was an absolutely fantastic stay!!! It's centrally located, just a short drive from both ends of the island and just down the street from a public beach. Super snorkelling right in front of your home and the best ocean side sunsets to be had!!! The cabana has everything you need including a private outdoor patio, full kitchenette, BBQ, air conditioning, beach towels, folding lawn chairs and even the use of a cell phone. Thank you Karin, we so enjoyed and appreciated the candlelit walkway to the cabana every night. Our hosts, Karin and Louis were such a wealth of information about what to do, where to go and what to see on the island, and sharing the sunset was something we looked forward to at the end of the day. We made some great new friends and will definitely plan a return visit!!!
Great location, quiet and relaxing.
We thoroughly enjoyed our ten day stay with Karin and Louis. They are both as friendly as can be, and very helpful with local information. We were on the island to snorkel, and some of the best snorkeling to be found is the outside of the reef between Puerto Chiquito, just a mile down from their location, and Mangel Halto, just across the street and down a little from their location. Go in at Puerto Chiquito and come out at Mangel Halto. We will definitely stay at aruba B&B; the next time we come to aruba.
The Desert or The Sandbox
A gem in Pos Chiquito.
A short five minute taxi ride from the airport took us to one of the most beautiful places in aruba. We were met by Louis, and quickly made us feel welcome (Bon Bini). He showed us all the amenities in the cabana and how to operate the stove and the ac. A quick tour of the property and point and guide to the groceries and the bus stop was very helpful as we used both quite frequently.
Louis showed us where to go snorkling, which is across the street from his house. I love this feature the best. I would start my day swimming in the Carribean Sea and enjoy the wild life under water. It just feels good.
Karin met us later in the evening and told us where all the spots we need to see locally. She gave us a pre-paid phone to use locally which came in handy. Karin and Louis was kind enough to give us a personal tour south of the island and took us to a wonderful market where all the fishermen sell their catch of the day.
We love Karin and Louis's home. The outdoor funiture, the decor and the peace and quiet of the property. Going back to the amenities of the cabana, it had all the necessary items you would need for a short or extended stay.
As I said earlier, we took the bus the entire time with the exception of one day. Abb is pretty much centrally located in the island. It didn't take long to get to where we needed to go.
We enjoyed our time in aruba and I would definitely recommend staying with Karin and Louis. Ab&b; is one of the treasures you will find in aruba. Enjoy your stay. Bon Dia.

My husband and I were in aruba for 10 days aug 1-10, 2013. We had such a fun experience filled with many activities, wonderful food and 2 very great places to stay. The first 4 days we stayed at an all Inclusive Resort with 22 people for a wedding anniversary. Great time but were ready to chill after everyone left for the airport. We also left the resort to begin our next 6 day adventure staying in a Cabana on the other end of the beach. We were near the Spanish Lagoon in Pos Chiquiot beach area and we Loved It!!! It was a quaint, quiet, perfect setting for my husband and I to kick back, read books and relax. As we arrived, we were greeted by Karin our hostess and after being given the tour of our very clean home for the next 6 days we opened up our refrigerator to find Wine, Cheese and Crackers for a much welcomed snack before heading to the grocery store. We enjoyed relaxing in every morning and afternoons out for adventure and dinner. Luis and Karin were wonderful host...as they invited us to watch the sunset by the ocean with them where great conversation and friendship began. Luis and Karin were such wonderful host that by the end of our trip, we invited them to send us an email when they are in our area so we can return the hospitality.
Thank you again for helping to make our aruba vacation a wonderful trip!

Sand, Sun, Snorkeling...Paradise!
This was our first trip to aruba and we wanted to experience the island not a resort, so we chose the aruba Bed and Beach in Pos Chiquito to stay. What a wonderful place for our trip! We received five star friendly, warm and welcoming service at Karin and Luis's cabanas. The cabana itself was clean, air conditioned and comfortable. We were looking for a place to relax, swim, snorkel and lay on the beach. It was perfect as we could walk across the street, jump into the water and snorkel with amazing fish! Or we could walk about 200 meters down the street to Magel Halto for a beautiful white sand beach with more excellent snorkeling. We ate a wonderful dinner just down the street at Marina Pirata, enjoyed local fare from the lady who makes Patacones from a food truck, and watched amazing sunsets each night just outside the cabanas. If you are interested in seeing more of the island it would be worth looking into renting a car, but if relaxing is your thing, you will have everything you need. When our week stay was up, we were very sad to be leaving, but we will definitely be returning to aruba Bed & Beach!
Delightful, affordable getaway in aruba
My wife and I are making the rounds of the Caribbean islands enjoying the tropics. We are avid snorkelers and occasional divers. We search for affordable accommodations that are near or on the beach and not in the midst of high tourist activity. Reading the glowing trip advisor reviews on aruba Bed & Bath made it sound like an ideal place for us to stay. We were not disappointed! We spent a week there and found our cabana in this residential seaside community a delightful one. It was clean, roomy, had an air-conditioned bedroom and the kitchen was very adequate for preparing our meals. The unit did not have an ocean view but the ocean was just across the street and we enjoyed not only quick access to one of the best snorkeling sites on the island but also the evening gathering of friends to watch the beautiful sunsets with our hosts, Luis and Karin. A review would not be complete without commenting on their gracious hospitality. Having grown up in aruba they were very helpful in not only pointing us to the various sites and attractions of the island but also could share insights about the island's history, economics, and politics. In summary, this is a great place to stay and it would be a top choice should we return to that beautiful island.
True aruban experience
The hosts were wonderful!!! The cabana/cottage was clean, comfortable & homey; everything you need for an "off the tourist track" experience. There are dogs onsite (not in the guest area) so if you are not a dog lover you might not love it as much as we did.
Location, location, location...Excellent!!! Very relaxing escape from an extremely busy and high stress lifestyle. Did I say, the hosts are excellent? Very knowledgable and a good balance of helpful & friendly without being intrusive. The sunsets are exquisite!!!

Fantastic hospitality, sights and warmth
We enjoyed our week in aruba very much, the accommodations was very comfortable and very clean. Karin and Louis made sure that if we needed anything not to hesitate to ask them. They made us feel right at home and welcomed us with wine, cheese and crackers in our cabana, which was only steps away from the beach. The night that we arrived was amazing, the beautiful sunset and reflection on the water was a breathtaking sight. We really enjoyed my stay and would definitely come back to the aBB.
We chose this place based on previous reviews, and are happy we stayed here. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 week stay at aBB. Our hosts, Karin & Luis, could not have been more hospitable. This was our 17th visit to aruba, but our first visit staying away from the resort area, and will definately be back. Everything we could possibly need was provided for, and the cabana was clean and comfortable. Plenty of good snorkeling across the street, and palapas for shade. The sunsets were gorgeous, and after all these years finally saw the 'green flash' (twice)! Thank you, Karin and Luis, for making us feel so at home!

Experience the real aruba - away from the crowds
This is our family's favorite vacation spot of all time. Karin and Louis are such wonderful hosts. The location is on a beautiful lagoon with amazing snorkeling and sunsets right out the door. It's also walking distance to Mangel Halto beach. After the first day, we felt like we were arubans living on the island. The cabanas are clean and provide all the amenities you need. Rent a car so you can visit all the attractions around the island, but you'll be happy to come back to this spot to watch the amazing sunsets every day. We don't want to stay anywhere else when we come back for our next visit.

One happy stay in aruba
We enjoyed our week in aruba very much. The cabana at Louis and Karin's fit our needs quite well. It was quiet and out in the country more which is what we wanted. The cabana was not high end but everything was comfortable and clean. It had everything there that we needed. Karin and Louis were hospitable hosts and we enjoyed our time spent with them. If we go back to aruba we would stay there again!

Charming and relaxing cabana...
The owners of this cute place warmly welcomed us into their home. The small cabana`s they rent out are decorated in a fun and original manner, reflecting the owners' creativity and love of the island!
The lazulli cabana was perfectly clean and the fridge contained a suprise bottle of cold wine and crackers - excellent! The area is quiet but centrally located to get around the island. There is something magical about snorkling in front of your doorstep and being able to sit down with a cold beer (try Polar!) to watch the sun set.
Last but not least; for anyone who fears they'll miss their pet - 5 well educated dogs at 2 stylish cats were freely available for petting and snuggling...
I truly can't think of a single negative about staying here. The location is very convenient, and the accommodations are wonderful. We felt like we had our own piece of paradise.
Karin and Louis thought of everything. The wine and cheese waiting for us was a really nice treat.
Can,t wait to go back!
My husband and I visited aruba last year and stayed at aruba Bed & Beach. We had a wonderful experience, and I wrote a detailed review last July. I just wanted to add that our stay here this year was even better as we knew the island and where we wanted to go. Again, renting a car is the best way to explore the island. Our hosts, Karin and Louis, are the nicest and friendliest people anywhere. We so enjoyed getting to know them better and spending much time with them watching beautiful sunsets or touring all parts of the island. We have wonderful memories! The cabana is so perfect, and we had everything we needed for a perfect island vacation. Aruba Bed & Beach is a Gem! I hope to be back again next year!!!
My mother and I recently stayed with Karin and Luis, while on vacation in aruba for a family wedding. The accommodations were perfect! The cabanas were clean and quaint, and the location could not have been better. Across the street was a very quiet beach, which we visited almost daily, and down the street, was a fantastic restaurant. And most importantly, Karin and Luis could not have been better hosts. They showed us around downtown Oranjestad, gave us detailed directions for all of our excursions, and were just an absolute delight to spend time with. If you want a true experience on aruba, I advise you to avoid the hotels and stay here.
Like staying at a favorite cousin's place, without the familial
My wife and I stayed here for a week. Karin and Louis were excellent hosts, and made us feel at home from the moment we arrived. We shared a couple of meals at local establishments, and they provided a great tour of the island one morning during our stay.
The cabanas are spotlessly clean. We didn't see a single critter during the entire week. Keeping the doors open provided enough breeze to keep the few mosquitoes away from us while we relaxed in the living room. The bedroom is air conditioned, and very quiet. It was amazing how quiet and calm the neighborhood is.
Mangel Halto beach is about 100 yards away, and if you just want to swim, there is access to the water across the street from the cabanas. We enjoyed most sunsets sitting in front of the house with other guests, our hosts, and several neighbors. After the sunset, we were treated to the wonder of schools of lantern fish in the water, and the walk to our cabana was always lit by tea lights Karin places before sunset.
For birders, there is a nesting pair of Troupials living on the property, and Ruby-Topaz Hummingbirds frequently visit the aloe flowers on the property.
If you want an authentic island vacation, this is the place to stay.
Lovely location and great hosts
We recently stayed for 2 weeks at aruba Bed and Beach and thoroughly enjoyed our home in aruba. Karin and Louis were perfect hosts welcoming us to sundowners which we will always remember the beauty and peace. The rental was perfect size especially enjoyed the deck to eat our meals.
We found the location great not far from town and close to the beaches. Randy is still talking about Zerover and the fresh fresh seafood.
Thank you Karin and Lewis .

Walk across the road to listen to the waves hit the rocks and watch the most beautiful sunsets anywhere. Thanks again Karin and Chito for making our winter holiday just perfect.

Exceeded all Expectations
25th anniversary trip for my wife and I. From the very first contact gathering information to our final good byes, Karin and Luis were great! Booking was easy. The Cabana was great! We stayed in Bella Sera. Literally right across the street from one of aruba's premier snorkeling locations. Upon arrival there was wine and cheese in the fridge and an invite to dinner. Having lived on the island all of their lives, Karin and Luis are a treasure trove of local information and guidance. Weather was great! Cabana was great! Anniversary on Valentines day was incredible. My wife and I are already planning our return with our children!

Quiet, relaxing and wonderful retreat; with excellent hosts
This is our second year and hope to have many more. It's far from the high rises but so nice to not be staying there, and enjoy going there for a drink or game or whatever. Very nice hosts with small cabana that met all our needs. Liked everything the best.. unable to think of a 'liked least' item..

Great for scuba divers and snorkelers!
The owners of aruba Bed & Beach, Louis and Karin are the two friendliest, most accommodating, fun people with whom we have ever shared a home. We say "share” because even though we had our own private quarters, separate from their house, we were frequently invited to join them for dinner out or sundowners at the water's edge. Enjoying their company in the evenings was a highlight of our trip that. However, if you prefer your privacy you will get it. You'll just be missing out on some fun conversation! You may even find you're a new fan of Toby Keith, but then again, maybe not. :)
Peaceful, romantic and inviting are the first words that come to mind. Abb is the perfect getaway for couples. We had the smaller of the two cabanas and we loved our cozy space inside and, especially, out. We had all of our meals on the patio, which, at night, is lit with numerous candles.
A small grocery is only a couple of blocks away. While the selection is limited, we found all of our basic necessities including frozen meats, fresh vegetables and rum.
The purpose of our visit to aruba was to experience the diving, which we loved! We dove every day, twice a day with S.E.Aruba Fly 'n Dive. Someone from the dive shop picked us up each morning and drove us home each afternoon. They didn't offer p.m. or night dives while we were there but they did let us rent tanks that we used for afternoon and nighttime shore diving from aBB. This was not only convenient but always enjoyable. The reefs were teeming with life.
As long as you don't leave bars in the middle of the night with strangers, or go snorkeling with men you barely know, you should be fine.
There is something for everyone here. You won't be bored, unless, of course, you want to be. If you're like us you'll leave feeling like the two most favorite people that Karin and Louis have ever hosted. Of course, in our case, we know it's true. :)
We loved our experience at aBB. Karin and Louis are great hosts. We look forward to a return visit. This location is off the tourist beat so a car is essential.
The kitchen was nicely outfitted, so breakfast and lunch were easy. Very thoughtful owners who took us out to dinner! The water really was right across the road, and the owners even provided snorkeling equipment. Parking was easy.
An absolute find!
If you want to get away from the resort area, this is the perfect spot. You're actually in a residential part of aruba most tourists never see. But at the same time, the beach and reef area is perfect for snorkeling and scuba diving with barely any crowds at all. Over our week stay, Karin & Louis were gracious hosts, not intrusive yet inviting at the same time. The first night we were there, they took us to a great seafood place that locals mostly go to. They also recommended a food truck (HiGuey) that is so local, it only lists items in Florins, the local currency. They are both natives and have great stories to tell about aruba. And as a bonus, they even pulled strings and got us tickets to a local jazz festival. As for the location itself, the cabin we got was no frills but had everything we needed - kitchen, shower, bedroom, living area, cable TV. They even gave us a cel phone (which we needed a couple of times) as a courtesy to call Karin. Their cat Jada wanders by in the yard. They have five dogs, too, but they are kept separate from the area you'll be hanging. They also provide free snorkel equipment, fins and lawn chairs. I'd recommend a rental car, though, since there isn't much in walking distance for tourists to see. If you are a couple and don't want to be in the pell-mell of lots of other tourists, I couldn't recommend a better place to go in aruba. And from a value standpoint, it's incredible.
pictures and reviews don't do it justice!
I was excited for my stay after reading about aBB and seeing the pics online. After arriving I can honestly say all of my expectations were exceeded. The cabanas are perfect- clean, comfortable and steps away from beautiful clear blue water perfect for snorkeling and swimming. All of this would have been more than enough for me so having the chance to spend time with and meet Karin and Luis(the most amazing hosts!) was an absolute bonus. After visiting the "tourist" spots I couldn't have been happier to have chosen aBB over the hotel scene. If you are looking to really experience aruba, rent a car explore the island and take the opportunity to view this gorgeous country from a local perspective aBB is the place for you. We can't wait to get back to aruba and enjoy another incredible stay at aBB!
New York City
The Place To Be...
After spending the first week at our time share in the low rise section near Eagle Beach, once again, the change to the peace and tranquility of Pos Chiquito(Mangel Halto) was amazing. Karin and Louis were more than accomodating re check-in time and throughout the entire stay, and we really enjoyed their company during a dinner evening at one of their favorite local restaurants(won't give away the name), and a great sunset get-together on our last evening in aruba. And then, there's Mangel Halto Reef; for those of you into shore-entry snorkeling/diving, you'll have a hard time finding a better spot, great water conditions, lots of marine life to check out, best of all, no Crowd, and all that within walking distance of your place, just doesn't get any better than that. So, if all this sounds good to you, go for it, you won't be sorry!!
Wonderful and Relaxing from to Finish
First and foremost Louis and Karin really do a wonderful job in welcoming and making sure you are comfortable. We loved the Lapis Lazuli Cabana, clean, and relaxing. We work very hard during the year and wanted a nice place to relax and unwind. This was our 3rd trip to aruba and love the island and it is nice to find a place to stay that is affordable. If you are looking for a 5 star resort, it is not. We will be back and we hope sooner than later. Thank you Louis and Karin you are both great host and really express your love for your island. Amazing beauty and a great value!
We feel so lucky to have spent our honeymoon at aruba Bed and Beach. We found this well reviewed rental on Trip advisor and after traveling to aruba and staying there we feel like we hit the jackpot! It is safe, affordable, clean, comfortable, and the hosts are amazing. It was also exactly what we were looking for in a vacation spot and exactly what all of the other reviews describe. It is tucked away from the traffic and crowds of the tourist areas but has the stunning beauty of the pale blue ocean across the street. We highly recommend aruba Bed and Beach and will be back as soon as we can!
A great part of what made our vacation Perfect!
We stayed at Bella Sera in august and absolutely loved it. Karin and Louis made our stay so special. Our favorite snorkel spot on the island ended up being right across the street. Coming back to the cabana at the end of our day really felt like coming into a home away from home. The bedroom was my favorite part of the cabana; there is something very peaceful about it. The location is also great. We made it out to the busy resorts a couple of times and we were glad we did not stay there instead. It just felt like we had a better chance to experience more of the local scene by staying at aBB. We rented a car and drove out to different areas in the island. Activities: We climbed the 500 step hill, did some horse back-riding, snorkeled at Baby Beach, fished by the light house, fed the iguanas at Palm Beach, and volunteered at the Donkey Sanctuary.
Our stay at aruba Bed and Beach starting with great communication from the owners, Karin and Louis. They made everything easy and set us up for a great vacation.
Upon arrival, they had a little welcome 'basket' waiting for us in the fridge and showed us all the equipment they had for us to use (snorkeling, beach chairs, hammock).
The next morning we woke up to an amazing view. Not 40 feet from their front gate is an entrance to the water. Hop in and snorkel all day if you please. Just down the road (about 2 minutes walk) is Mangel Halto Beach. The snorkeling is great and you can get a good workout against the current. Hop out, grab a shower, and head just down the street to a lovely restaurant right on the water, Marina Pirata. Delicious food and a great experience (they light the water so you can see the fish).
Bottom line, Aruba Bed and Beach is a perfect place to stay if you don't want to be in a resort atmosphere. The kitchenette makes cooking easy and they even have a bbq if you want to grill! What a lovely little home away from home for a week! Karin and Louis take great care to make sure your stay is comfortable!
Thanks again, Karin and Louis, for a perfectly relaxing, snorkel-filled, memorable 10th anniversary trip!

Amazing aruba Bed & Beach
First of all, Aruba Bed and Beach was as awesome as the past reviews have claimed! My husband and I decided to venture to aruba to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. I did not want to stay in the high rise hotels with the hoards of tourists everywhere, so I read about aBB and decided to stay there. My husband Henk and I were so pleased with everything! First of all, Karin and Louis are amazing, friendly, accommodating, and a joy to be around. They were always ready to assist us with any questions that we had. As my husband is Dutch, Karin and Louis made sure that he know where to go to get his favorite Dutch goodies as well as converse in Dutch with him and make him so happy!
I will now list all of my favorites: prepaid cell phone, snorkels, noodles to snorkel with, beach chairs, coolers, hammock, wine and cheese upon arrival found in our refrigerator, adorable cabana with everything one would need, beautiful bed, and lovely furniture on outside patio, Mangel Halto beach right across the street where the snorkeling was awesome, and the dogs! This was the homiest place that I have ever stayed in and we have traveled to many islands throughout the Carribean. Cons: there were none except that we had to leave after a week! We have already planned to return to aBB next July to experience heaven in aruba without the crowds and visit some very special new friends Karin and Louis! Thanks so much!

Just like visiting long time friends
Perfect for those who don't want noise and aggravation of crowded beaches, traffic, and touristy resorts. The owners were so helpful, friendly, accomodating that we hated to leave. The accommodations are not luxurious but are clean, comfortable, roomy, private. Rent a car, see the island, enjoy the tranquility. It was a five star trip for us. We recommend it wholeheartedly.
I can not put it into words how wonderful Karin and Louis and their cabanas are. I was totally taken by surprise how beautiful and clean everything was! The pictures do not do this place justice. I could go on and on about ever little thing I loved but, I will name some of my favorites: the snorkel gear, the beach chairs, the ice chest, the full kitchen, the wifi, the pre-paid cell phone, the gorgeous wood furniture on both the covered and non-coverd patios, the beautiful tiled shower, the oh so comfortable and stunning huge bed, the hammock, the location, the quietness, the tea lights at night, the bottle of wine, and the cute little trinkets everywhere you look. Karin and Louis are wonderful people. Everyone should go stay at one of their cabanas and I promise you will fall in love with it like we did. On that note, if you are someone who wants to stay in a highly populated area with someone catering to your every need than this is not the place for you. But, if you are like us and enjoy quiet beautiful and interesting places to stay for vacation than this is the best place for you. Location wise,..it is literally right across the street from the most beautiful snorkeling on the island. And a few houses down the street you can access Mangel Halto beach (it was a little too rocky for us.) We rented a car and that worked perfectly for us because we were able to drive to some other beaches on a few of the days. Karin and Louis will be there to assist you on places to go. It is also very easy to get around the island so no need to worry that you are not staying near the downtown area. Thank you so much Karin and Louis for sharing your piece of paradise!!! You guys are the best!!!
peace and quiet in Paradise
If you are the type of traveller/vacationer who wants to meet the locals instead of hords of holidamakers, watch the sunset over the Lagoon with a cold beverage, who wants peace and quiet in beautiful surroundings then this is for you.
Your hosts Karin and Louis go out of their way to accomodate your every need, almost!!! You will need to rent a car because this is about the only thing they dont provide and the area is about 10-15 minutes south of the airport.
We spent most of our time on Eagle Beach , but looked forward to returning to the Lagoon in the evening. Relaxing , enjoying the snorkling, but unfortunately did not avail of the Kayaks at our disposal.Next time we will Kayak.
I look forward to our next visit guys, maybe in Novembers for a few days.

Thanks for a great vacation.
Aruba "Home Dushi* Home"
Before we decided to book at aBB, I had read the reviews posted on Tripadvisor/Flipkey. Based on our experience, I can testify to the accuracy of the positive comments provided by past guests. We were delighted with our hosts and their cabana. We felt truly fortunate to be guests at aBB. Karin and Louis are a treasure of aruba. Their hospitality and camaraderie with their guests is top notch. We loved our home stay - Bella Sera had everything we wanted. We snorkeled multiple times at Mangel Halto - going in right across the street from aBB and also going in at the beach. Sunset with Karin and Louis on the Poets and Pirates Rock is a wonderful bonus experience. We rented a vehicle and were glad we did because it gave us the opportunity to fully explore the island - so what if we got lost more than once - being lost led to more adventures! We snorkeled at Baby Beach and we snorkeled at Malmok and Boca Catalina when we took a sunset sail/snorkel excursion. We liked snorkeling at Mangel Halto best, and we look forward to returning again. If you want hotel luxury- go elsewhere. If you are looking for world-class hospitality with a wonderful aruban couple, ABB is a great choice. We were happy to be visitors to "one happy island?.

Anniversary celebration in paradise!
Thirty years after honeymooning in the Bahamas, my wife and I decided to go to aruba for the first time to celebrate our thirtieth anniversary. We made a great choice! What a wonderfully beautiful island. We found out you can always count on the weather to be near perfect, and the water to be warm and inviting. From there it only got better.
Our accommodations in the Bella Sera cabana were quaint and comfortable with everything we needed to eat, sleep, and play in the sun and sea. There is snorkeling equipment (the coral reefs, and sea life were indescribably beautiful), and kayaks to use free of charge, a private patio, and even a hammock to lay in to enjoy the warm Caribbean breezes.
We didn't rent a car and had no problem walking to the small grocery store (2 min), Mango Halto beach (2 min), Marina Parata restaurant (6 min) or the bus stop (5 min). We even walked to the Balashi brewery (30 mins), but unfortunately we arrived too late for the tour that starts at 10:30 am. We did have lunch that started at 11 am, and played Bocce in their beer garden. We took a bus into the resort area one day and got back without any problem.
Our hosts Luis and Karin, could not have been nicer. There are both natives of aruba, and genuinely care about whether you have an enjoyable stay at the aruba Bed and Beach and on the island. We met almost every night to watch spectacular sunsets, enjoy a glass of wine, and talk about the day. Their neighbors Mike and Yvette often joined us. We really enjoyed their company. I believe we will all remain friends for life.
The last night on the island we stayed at the Hyatt. There is no doubt that it is a beautiful resort on a beautiful beach, but why spend 250+ a night and go to the same crowded beach everyday, pay for snorkeling or kayaking, and buy expensive restaurant meals when you can get to experience the real aruba just 10 miles down the road for what will amount to less than 1/3 the price.

The perfect retreat from a busy life
Everything at aruba Bed and Beach was exactly what we were looking for in a relaxing holiday. It is away from the hustle and bustle of the high rise hotel area, but a short drive if you want a night out. Plenty of good restaurants close by with local fare. The water is just across the street and you can while away the hours listening to the waves hitting the rocks, and then enjoy the sunset and have a nice cold local beer. People come from all over to snorkel just in front of aruba Bed and Beach, where plenty of tropical fish make their home.
Our hosts couldn't have been more friendly and helpful.

Vacation of a Lifetime
My husband and I had the vacation of a lifetime here in aruba. If your looking for peace and tranquility you won't find better.
We opted for a smaller accommodation to be away from the larger all inclusives for this very reason and we found it in Pos Chiquito with Karin and Louis. They offered us a clean, quiet and a most affordable cabana fully equipped to suit our needs and were so very hospitable. They both go out of their way to make sure that your vacation is relaxing and enjoyable and offer not only their home but continued friendship long after we left and returned home.
We found quiet beaches and the most friendly people we have ever encountered. You won't find a more beautiful sunset.anywhere. There is so much to do in aruba from walks through a gorgeous park, horseback riding, shopping and so much more.
We thank you Karin and Louis and we will definitely see you soon.

One of the most miracle places on the World!
Amazing views, friendly people, blue lagoone, snorkeling, delicious food... Many sand beaches, clear water, fishes, animals, beatiful water world...
I recommend Caren and Chito appartments, close to water, fantastic time spent with the owners.
If you want real aruba, without crowds, stay here!!!
I can't pick just one thing that I liked best about aBB! But somewhere near the top is the fact that if you want to really and truly experience aruba, this is the place to stay! Sure, you can do the all inclusive or the big hotel and it is "convenient", but that part of the island could be any sandy beach, anywhere in the Caribbean. Just driving down the main drag could have been Bahamas or Cozumel and you wouldn't know the difference.
Louis and Karin offer you more than a glimpse into what it means to experience aruba. At an extremely reasonable rate, you have their priceless knowledge of where to go, where to shop, where to eat and where to play. You basically get your own private beach, kayaks and snorkel gear without the crowds of tourists. Highlights of our trip included the hiking at arikok to that natural pool, visiting the donkey sanctuary and eating at Zeerovers. None of those activities would have happened without their help and advice!
You will need to rent a car, and it will be best if you go ahead, bite the bullet and pay the fees to rent it at the airport. Many of the businesses like car rental companies are used to dealing with tourists in the hotel areas and you may get pushback when they hear that you want to be picked up "all the way out there" in Pos Chiquitos. Which was funny to us considering what a small island it is!
I could go on forever raving about aBB, but I will wrap this up with yet another apology to Louis and Karin for our goof and not being prepared to pay them in cash when we checked out. Somehow I totally missed that in all my crazy planning of this trip. So sorry you guys!!!
This was one of the most wonderful trips I have ever taken.
I can't wait to go back Karin and Chito are the most gracious hosts, and included us in activities and events on the island that we never otherrwise would have experienced. If you want to experiece the true aruba, then stay at the aruba Bed and Beach. I can't wait to post our pictures. I can't wait to go back
Away from hustle and bustle of the resorts and absolutely unique
If you happened to be like my husband and myself, who shy away from the traditional resorts with meticulously manicured lawns, all-inclusive deals and predictable holiday itinerary, Bed&Beach; is the only place to stay in aruba. For more details, read all the other reviews provided by Trip advisor as we found most of them pretty accurate and you'll get the idea of what B&B; is like!
My wife and I both had a blast. We couldn't have been more happy with our stay and we are recommending it to everyone when we talk about vacations. The owners are helpful and friendly. The apartment is off of the beaten path, but still a one block walk from a great beach, and across the street from great snorkeling.
With regards to transportation we would recommend thinking about what you like. We though the bus was easy and in a way fun, taking us to all the big beaches and the casinos. We were there for 2 weeks, so we weren't rushing. If you want to get to some of the more remote parts of the island you will want a vehicle to get there, either with a tour company or a rental. If you are looking to save money, split the difference, the bus is cheap, then rent a off road vehicle for a few days to get to the other areas.
The apartment is a beautiful little place; clean and comfortable. The pictures aren't lying. The owners explained that they keep the prices low because they enjoy finding deals when they travel and they know people want to spend money doing things not paying for a room (I am paraphrasing here). There is more included then what I am saying, and the other reviews mention them.
In short if you are going to aruba stay here.

A wonderful time at the real aruba!!
My husband really enhanced our time in aruba by choosing the aBB..Karin and Louis are the best hosts!!! The beautiful Spanish Lagoon was across the road, they provided all we needed for the beach and snorkeling. The cabana we rented was clean and cute! We would highly recommend this as weliked being out of the crowds at big hotels.

Waterfront Bed and Breakfast
Abb is a small, island quaint bed and breakfast that is located in Pos Chikito across from Mango Halto, which is a beautiful area to swim and snorkel. If you want to get away from all the high-rise and low-rise hotels then aBB is for you. Karin and Louis, the owners, are very helpful and at the same time do not bother you in any way. They provide you surprising little touches that you didn't expect. And you really can't beat the fact that you walk out the front gate and you are looking at the water, which by the way is some of the best snorkeling on the Island. Abb is also around the corner from two groceries, has all your pots/pans and silverware etc., has a private porch/lanai area, kayaks available for use when you want, and such a beautiful setting.
Just for FYI, because they were not bothersome to my friend and I, Karina and Louis have dogs which will of course bark, in the unit we stayed in only the bedroom had a/C, and you will really never have cold water out of the tap, the sun is to strong and beautiful.
We went to aBB expecting a little and came away with a rich and wonderful experience. When we return to aruba, godwilling, we will definitely stay at aBB.

Excellent hosts, snorkeling, and trip!!!
This was our second trip in 13 months to aruba Bed & Beach and already we'd like to go back next summer! We stayed in a different unit this time green one vs. blue one, the green one is little smaller and doesn't have the same outdoor private patio (yet) but does have an a/c unit in the living room, not just the bedroom like the blue unit (if that's important to you). We'd stay in either again since we were out diving or snorkeling or kayaking at least twice every day! Karin and Louis were fabulous hosts again, starting with the wine and cheese and sunset watching over the ocean! As you can read above this isn't a luxury high rise with a big pool, but is near a much better rocky entry beach--the best snorkeling on the island is right out past the buoy to the right or left (saw turtles, eels, huge pufferfish, etc.) And you can get groceries at the nearby small stores, walk to a few nearby restaurants, or walk to the bus to ride into downtown. You may want a rental car, but a dive shop, S.E.Aruba Fly and Dive picked us up and dropped us off daily. The kitchenette had everything we needed--no oven except toaster over but who wants to bake a turkey on vacation? The units were very clean and we highly recommend this to all our friends and family!
Our Best Stay... Anywhere!
This was our second trip to aruba. Our first was our honeymoon and we stayed at the Marriott Surf Club, which of course was very nice. We have actually gotten to stay at many nice places on our travels. The Bed and Beach was not only nice, but was by far the most special place we have ever stayed. I'll start with the accommodations, we stayed in the Bella Sera. It was very comfortable, clean, and had everything we needed to cook some meals, make coffee etc. in the cabana. There is an iron, ironing board, hair dryer. The linens and towels were of great quality. We had two large private patios where we spent a lot of time reading and drinking coffee in the mornings. When you head to the beach you will find that Karin and Louis have thought of everything, we had two large fluffy beach towels, snorkel equipment, lounge chairs, noodles, and camping chairs. They even let us borrow their kayaks, so generous! We were given a prepaid cellphone to use during our stay, which was so helpful, and there was wine and cheese waiting for us on our arrival.
Our hosts, Karin and Louis were amazing. Such wonderful people. They are very welcoming and friendly and very helpful. We really enjoyed visiting with them and feel that we have friends in aruba now.
The Bed and Beach is only a few houses down from the public Mangel Halto beach, which is like having a private beach while you are there. The snorkeling off the beach is also the best snorkeling we have experienced on the island. We did rent a Jeep for the week from Royal, got a great deal, and I would recommend it.
The Bed and Beach is special for all of these reasons but also just a great feeling that you get being there. I really did feel like it was a home away from home by the end of our vacation and I was sad to leave. Thank you for a great stay Karin and Louis!
Delightful time in aruba
We stayed at aruba Bed and Beach and really enjoyed our time there. Karin and Louis are wonderful hosts. We enjoyed our sunset chats with them and the wine and cheese they provided for our first night. The apartment was nice and even though it was very hot outside, we were happy enough to have the apartment which just has the air conditioned bedroom. The other one is completely air conditioned. There was a fan for those few times when we were actually sitting around in the apartment. We were provided with thick beach towels and there was a small hairdryer in the bathroom. We also enjoyed petting the dogs, including the two new ones they recently rescued. Only saw the cats a couple of times.
I would recommend that you rent a car. The place is away from the other hotels and downtown and with the heat, I would not have wanted to wait for the bus. It was easy to drive but the roads are not marked well and the maps confusing. It was hard to get too lost though on such a small island. The couple who rented the other apartment had not gotten a car originally and they decided the next day that it was too difficult to negotiate w/o one, so they got one too.
I have already spoken to several other people who are thinking about going to aruba and have recommended aruba Bed and Beach.

The real Aruba!! We will be back!
This was my first time to Aruba and my husband’s third time.
Upon arrival, Karin greeted us. We were taken down the walkway to the cabana. It walkway was nicely decorated. There was a hammock ( perfect for star gazing) ,plus table and chairs outside. Upon entering the cabana, you enter the living room and kitchen area. The whole cabana was very nicely decorated. You have air conditioning, a couch, television, refrigerator, a cooking stove, sink, cooking utensils were also provided, a little bar to sit at and eat. The bedroom had a nice king size bed, night tables, and plenty of space for your clothes. We loved the way the cabana was decorated.
Karin had cheese, crackers and a lovely wine waiting for us. The first night we enjoyed a beautiful sunset with Karin and Luis. They were wonderful host. They made us feel like part of their family. They gave great advice about the island. Their dogs was friendly and made you feel like part of the family also. When they were out, they always gave a friendly hello (like their owners).
This is a very safe and special place to stay. We plan on going back as often as we can. If you want the perfect getaway, away from the hustle and bustle. This is the place for you. It is a real perfect getaway for couples. It is private, with the beach across the street. There is parking for your car.
There is nothing about Karin’s place that we did not like. We loved it so much, that this is the place we will stay when we go back. It made us feel as though we were part of Aruba. We met some great people, when we met Karin and Luis.
Serene, enjoyable, will BE BACK for sure!
Both my husband and me were in Aruba for the first time. Although, we've mainly booked our vacations at all-inclusive resorts, the Karin's and Chito place beat them all with ease!
If you want serene peaceful settings, gorgeous sunsets, watching the full moon and stars from your hammock- it is all here! The main treasure- is the Beach, that is right besides the house, and you practically Owe it to yourself the whole day, the water is lukewarm at any time, the colors and variety of countless fish is for any snorkeled activity, kayaking and scuba diving to be amazed with. There are no crowds of tourists, no "same and boring" all you can eat like all-inclusive’s usually offer.
There are supermarket, just right at the corner, famous with locals and tourists “Marina Perata” restaurant with the excellent Aruban style food. The bus runs every 10-15 minutes very close to the house if you want to explore the island. We used both bus, than rented car to see the surroundings.
The hosts go over the top for us to feel like at home, to make our stay unforgettable experience.
We will be back for sure.

Sun and Relaxation Off the Beaten Track.
My wife and I needed a getaway, and we found this place on Trip
Advisor. After much consideration (and some trepidation), I picked
Aruba "Bed and Beach" over a hotel, based on its reviews. We
absolutely loved it, and got way more than our money's worth.
Wonderful hosts. If your flight arrives on the weekend or in the
evening, Karin or Louis will pick you up from the airport. Karen
and Louis are also happy to direct you to the best restaurants on
Easy access to awesome snorkeling. Mangel Halto is a two minute
walk away, or just enter the lagoon from the dock right in front of
the house (pictured in review). Many of the locals say this is the
best snorkeling, and its right in front of the room you're staying
Gorgeous water. Truly some of the most spectacular colors in all of
Aruba, and we know because we drove the entire perimeter except for
the military practice range north of Baby Beach... Check it out on
Google Maps if you don't believe me. You can tell just by looking
at the satellite images. The beaches by the hotel don't even come
Karin and Louis have thought of pretty much everything. They have
kayaks, snorkels and mask that you can borrow if you need to, beach
chairs, a huge aloe plant just outside the door for sun-burn, tea
lights in the evening, pre-paid cell phone you can use (buy your
own minutes,)secured WiFi, wine and cheese welcome package your
first night, enough dishes and pots/pans for basic cooking,
microwave, stove unit, toaster, normal sized fridge/freezer, air
conditioning, Cable TV (such as it is...why does Aruba get Chicago
news? Seriously.), and more.
2 minute walk from tiny grocery store. If you plan to do much
cooking, find something larger, but we mostly made do with what was
4 or 5 minutes to the bus stop. We had a hard time finding a useful
bus schedule, but it seems like one bus or another comes inside of
A view to the authentic Aruba
The apartment was a great value – neat, clean, comfortable, with nice touches, such as a mobile phone (uses prepaid minutes), beach chair, hammock on the patio, etc.
The owners were really hospitable – it was great to learn more about Aruba from locals who are truly connected to the island.
The location is a residential setting a short drive from the airport. Down the street is Mangel Halto Beach, a spot where you can find locals picnicking with their families. The beach and underwater terrain is rocky in many places, but it's a great spot for snorkeling.
I stayed at Aruba Bed & Beach during my fifth trip to Aruba. I wanted to try something different away from the hotel area. It was a refreshing change – I would recommend it for those seeking quiet, casual relaxation and a taste of the "real" Aruba.
I traveled solo and didn't rent a car, although it would have been easier if I had. There is a bus stop about a 5-10 minute walk away that provides access to town and the hotel area. While riding the bus on this part of the island is doable, it doesn't make for the most convenient or user-friendly experience – as expected!
All in all, I was very happy with my stay at Aruba Bed & Beach!

We fell in love with our apartment at first sight....spacious, clean, tiled, tasteful, with its own private patio as well as a Big Blue Door, the front door, giving on to the shared courtyard where we often ate our supper by lantern light in the warm, tropical dark....AND we fell for our hosts, too; warm, friendly, worldly, funny people who treated us like personal guests....you just can't imagine anything more wonderfully different from the impersonal, plastic, big resort hotel ambience. We loved the Sunset Sits around the red lantern, talking with our hosts and their friends from the neighborhood (a number of whom are former guests who came back on a more permanent basis!), looking out across the lagoon and watching the gorgeous colors slowly melt into darkness. The location is wonderful, too....it's a short, easy drive from Baby Beach at one end to the California Lighthouse at the other, and all points in between. The local food was yummy -- Karin and Luis let us follow them to the local "snack truck" the first night so we could all get a bite to eat, and we went back often....the chicken dishes were scrumptious, and the prices excellent. All in all, exactly what one hopes for -- a wonderful place to stay and new friends to boot!

Off the Beaten Track
Our hosts were very responsive to our emailed questions, this being our 1st trip to Aruba.
We got more than we expected. The cabanna was spacious, clean and well furbished. Our hosts were waiting for us when we arrived. A pre-paid cell phone was provided with the accomodation and this made it easy to contact our hosts when we had questions. A secure wireless internet connection is part of the deal and we had no issues.
With Spaans Lagoen on our doorstep we could go for a swim whenever we liked. If you want a beach entrance to the lagoon, Mango Alto is a slow 5 minutes walk away. We swam, snorkeled and kayaked to our hearts content. The beach at Mango Alto provides easy shore access for scuba diving.
There is a well stocked small convenience store just round the corner. We made use of the "Food Superstores" north of the harbor for the bulk of our grocery shopping. Except for a Sunday afternoon (party time at Mango Alto),the area is quiet and serene. If you need a people or shopping fix, they are a 15 minute drive away.
The only drawback was that we stayed for only 6 days, not nearly enough. A solution is at hand, we are already booked for Feb/Mar 2011!
If you want quiet, private and laid back accomodation away from the tourist area then this is the place to be.

Great place, great view, great people!
The suite we stayed in is quite modest, no bling or anything HOWEVER it's everything anyone ever needs being away from home and then some, a king size bed, a kitchen with full size fridge, cable tv, internet and great landlords. We watched the sunset across the street almost every night with Karin, Louis, Yvette, & Michael.
To top it off though the airline had lost our luggage and landing in Aruba you find out quickly everything closes at 1pm on a Sunday. Karin supplied us with tootbrushes, toothpaste, had the fridge stocked with wine, cheese, crackers, apples, etc; totally over the top & so appreciated!
I would highly recommend staying here.

Sun Set at the Spanish Lagoon
Our stay in Aruba was made perfect by our gracious hosts Karin and Louis who had a beautiful welcome package waiting for us on our arrival. They even had tooth brushes & tooth paste when our luggage was delayed and a cell phone to use while we were there. The WiFi made keeping in touch with my business and family back home almost too easy! They also were very well connected with inexpensive car rental, local maps and brochures which all aided in getting up to speed quickly. The evening sun set get-togethers were the perfect daily reality checks and it all combined in making this a wonderful vacation.

We truly found the hosts with the most! Karin and Louis made us feel special,
and right at home, and gave us that unique blend of privacy and security while
making us feel we could visit them and get to know them at will.
They have 3 adorable dogs who accepted us and greeted us every day like old
pals. As did the friendly and kind neighbors they count as friends. Yvette and
Mike, thank you (you know what you did!)
The little hacienda they provided was perfect; spacious, well-appointed,funky-
they thought of everything we could have needed.
Since we had stayed right downtown in the "action" the first half of our trip, I
was only too happy to wind down at the Aruba Bed & Beach. I guess if you
were going to stay awhile, you would want a rental car.To each their own.
In trying to think of something I did not like, all i could come up with were
some mosquitoes at night, if I sat in a particular spot reading they bit my legs.
I was too happy and lazy to find the bug spray they provided complimentary.
I would highly recommend Karin and Louis's lovely place.
Clean, private, beautiful, spacious
My girlfriend and I stayed in the Bella Sera cabin for 10 days. It's across the street from the ocean (but it's a 4 min walk to the beach access). The cabin is very large and clean with A/C and hot water. You have a full kitchen, living room, bedroom, dressing room and bathroom.... all is spacious. You even have a private area for nude tanning if you wish. There are two small TVs and one has a DVD player. Karin and her husband are super nice and perfect hosts.
If you have a rental car and want a private cabin, this place is perfect. If you have no rental car, it's not a problem, but you will have to walk 5-10 minutes to the busstop every day. We spent 8 out of 10 days without a rental car and we enjoyed the buses without any problems.
Pleasent & quiet stay
Nice vacation home for either short or semi-long term stay. Expect an afforable, basic but spacious accomodation. A car is recommended to see the island. The area itself is quiet but beautifull. The owners are always willing to help. Its just as the title says: Bed&Beach.

I have been to mangel alto for 12 days .
My stay was wonderful the owners were very
friendly and helpful with everything.

Beautiful rental and snorkeling at good value
We will be back! This was our first time to Aruba (after several trips to St. Croix, St. Maarten, and Bonaire) and we chose this place primarily due to its proximity to great shore diving/snorkeling sites on the island and its value. We were pleasantly surprised to find that the unit looked much nicer than expected and beach was even closer to water than expected, literally across the street. Having the hosts provide wine and cheese and some island tips while enjoying the first night's sunset over the ocean together was very nice. They had kayaks we used and the snorkeling really was excellent; we saw turtles, eels, great reef, and lots of Caribbean fish. The website lists that a/c is only in the bedroom, which we were fine with for the most part and is pretty typical in the caribbean we've found, but just thought I'd mention it again if you're one who likes to be super cool all the time. And S.E.Aruba scuba diving picked us up from there for our 4 day dive package and walking to the bus to the airport and town was no problem either. Overall, like I said we'll be back next year. Thanks so much to the great hosts!
A close up and personal view of Aruba
The cottage is bright and comfortable. Just across the road from the best place to snorkle in Aruba. The owners went out of their way to make us welcome. A store very close has all you need. You can catch a bus close buy as well. New Years Eve is the best!
The Aruba Bed and Beach was a wonderful spot to vacation and Karin (the lovely hostess) was a delight! The cabana was nice and spacious and right next to a beautiful beach. When we wanted to explore Aruba, Karin helped us find our way around the island and plan our various adventures. To top it off, Karin and her husband let us use their kayaks. If you ever get a chance to visit, I would definitely recommend kayaking the nearby beach at sunset! The only caveat to staying here is that you will need to rent a car to see the island, but from how much we saved compared to staying at the resorts, its more than worth it.
The Red Barns
Fantastic, warm and friendly enviroment that makes you not want
From the minute we landed in Aruba our hosts the Paris family made us feel right at home. The casita was very nicely decorated and spottlessly clean. Each night we walked across the road and watched the sunset with our new friends and felt like the rest of the world and all its troubles didn't exist. We were just a short drive to the busy center where one could visit the casinos or shop till you drop at any of the designer duty free stores. A short drive in the other direction brought us to beautiful Baby beach where we swam each morning like on our own private beach, away from the crowds of the Hotel district. We will be going back for sure and look forward to getting that relaxed again.
Wonderful place. Kind people. An experience that was not at all for the regular American tourist. You will be away from all of the high rise casinos in your very own lagoon. The natives are friendly and the views are amazing.
