This was our first time renting Eaqgle's Nest and our first time staying in this part of Wolf Laurel. We liked the accomodations at Eagle's Chase very much. We were disappointed that the Restaurant/Lodge was closed. We (four couples)come each year at the same time to visit a Christmas tree farm in the area to cut our Christmas trees. We had a lovely time.

My family absolutely loved Eagle's Nest and Mars Hill. The house was so beautiful and perfect for our family. The view from the balconys was breathtaking especially early in the mornings. The house was so clean and we felt very much at home. We honestly cannot wait until our next stay at Eagle's Nest. Loved it!!!

The service at the resort was great. Anything we needed they were ther in a jiffy! The were very warm and inviting. They also helped us figure out some great stuff to do around town. The cabin was cozy and had everything we needed. We brought things to cook with but it was not necessary because all of the kitchen supplies were at the cabin. We went horse back riding and enjoyed the nightlife in asheville. The whole trip and experience was great.

Great to be back at Eagle's Nest with the family. The kids had a great time on the slopes even though they had to go down to the lower level. The adults got much needed rest. A wonderful time by all. Voted to do it again next year. Will make it six years in a row. Scenic Wolf resort makes our winter holiday a great one. Dick and Missy are awesome. Thanks for your help.

We were super excited about going to the mountains of North Carolina specially to Scenic Wolf since they have such a great catalog of all the things they offer! We specially wanted to do some skiing, but there was no snow. Had to drive an hour to ski, wondered why couldnt the resort have made snow like all the other places? they were all about an hour long so the weather conditions in all of them were basicly the same. Everything was close, never got to see the inside of the lodge, restaurant, pool, nothing. If you show it in a nice brochure you have to make something available. There was nothing to do in the "resort", however that is not the worst part, the really disappointing fact was how dirty the cabin was, really really bad, my little son was sick the entire week because of allergies to the amount of dust and bed bugs aroud the cabin specially the sofas and carpet, really really bad. They had left sheets inside the washer (not dryier)I dont know for how long and the smell of wet clothing was terrible. We paid a lot of money for a cabin that was dirty, and for a resort where everything was close, not worth it at all.
In the future if you offer something make sure you deliver at least half of it.
The place as a whole is indeed beautiful. Read more
First, let me apologize for the conditions in which this guest found the cabin on their visit in December. The issues relative to cleanliness is absolutely not the standards we set for the Resort. Following the comments given to us when the guest departed on 12/28, each of the comments were reviewed with the Housekeeping staff and steps have been made to correct these issues. Again this is unacceptable to us and I can assure you future guests will not find the same conditions. Two items in particular were disturbing to me. One the issue of “Bed Bugs”…we have a professional pest control company who makes regular inspections and provides treatment for such issues. They were called in to check for this issue and to do whatever it takes to be sure there is no such problem. Second, Winter in the NC mountains this year has been devastating to all Ski resorts. There are certain temperature requirements that must be met in order to make snow. Until these temperature requirements were met…it was impossible to make snow. We regret the fact that our guests were not able to ski, and I assure you we did everything we could. The restaurant is open for guests primarily when the slopes are open for skiing. The Swimming pool was closed in November and we notified all guests immediately, multiple times. We removed all references to the Pool from the Website. It is our plan to re-open the pool in the Spring. Again, I want to apologize for this dissatisfaction with the resort and assure you that if you chose to stay with us in the future…which we hope you will do, we will do our best to serve you. Resort Management
UPDATE: The Pest Contlrol company was called and responded by stripping the beds and inspecting for Bed Bugs. They reported "No Evidence" of a problem with Bed Bugs.

We stayed for about 5 days with a large group, 11 adults and 4 kids. I think everyone was fairly well accomodated with beds and bathrooms. The house was pretty clean, I saw some dust and a few cobwebs when we first got in, but not too bad. The kitchen was nicely equipped and had plenty of pots/pans and other equipment. This cabin has a huge tv in the basement which was fun for the Wii games we brought. The view from the cabin is spectacular and this time of year the resort was pretty quiet. All in all, we had a great time.

Eagles Nest was a great great place to stay with a large group. It had everything we needed and lots of space to spread out. The three floors allowed for privacy. It was a bit out of the way and right on top of the mountain. If you want to be close to a city, this is not your place.
Bring a few extra towels if you have a large group. Overall, It is a super vacation rental for the money.

This is our second trip to Scenic Wolf. The staff is very friendly and super accomodating. The house was very comfortable and offered all the convience of home but with an amazing view. The location was central to all of the activities the family wanted to do, zip lining, rafting, shopping in asheville, hiking on the Blue Ridge Parkway. We will be back soon!

Eagle's Nest easily accommodated our extended family of 9 adults and 2 children for three nights. One night we hosted 40 extended family members for a potluck dinner and all agreed that the house was well-suited for such an occasion. The weather was ideal and the mountain view from the deck was enjoyed by all. We may come again and will see if Eagle's Nest is available.

A great place for a couple families. Bring supplies because it is a hike up the mountain but grocery stores are 15 minutes away. Hot tub, pool table, grill, DVD, stereo systems and porches make the time fly by. Enclosed pool is close.

I have don't really have any complaints what so ever except that it was really isolated. We went up during the week so the resturant was not open. The other downside is that I was under the impression I was going to be able to walk to the slopes at Wolf Ridge. The 2 slopes I could walk too were only open on Saturday night so I didn't get to ski them. It's a great place to take the family but I recommend taking all food & drinks with you.
We had a great time wished we could have been there longer.

The experience was great being so close to the ski slopes. Other than getting stuck attempting to go up the Mtn. on the ice, everything was great. Btw...josh in security came out at 3am to help us...and he was the bomb!! Awesome guy! Kudos to him. Skiing was great! Out accomadations were nice, however, we all felt the cabin could have been cleaner. Needed a deep cleaning ..cobwebs and corners and carpets...esp on the stairs. Otherwise, very nice time!
The perfect location for a winter storm.

We had 11 people over the age of 13 stay in the Eagle's Nest. We were close enough to the ski lodge that we could walk which was good because we had to leave our cars at the bottom of the mountain for 2 days. The only issue we had of concern was that we had a hard time trying to level the temperature on the 3 floors. The lower level would be cold while it was hot on the top floor. The cabin was gorgeous and well equipped for teenagers with games, movies, wi-fi, etc.
A Thanksgiving to remember
Left on 11/30/2010 for a stay in November 2010 | Kelly
We booked our Thanksgiving getaway in June. I was a bit wary after reading the current reviews, but could not have been more pleasantly surprised. The Eagles Nest is a warm, inviting home. All 7 of us were more than comfortably accommodated. Being Thanksgiving, we planned to do plenty of cooking, so we brought some of our own pots & pans, which turned out not to be necessary. The kitchen is very well equipped. The only thing I would suggest to property management is to have a recycling program. It was hard for us to throw away bottles, cans, etc. Thank you for your amazing home in which to spend our Thanksgiving holiday. We will definitely be back!!

Dining lodge was closed, not open as advertised on website. Nearest grocery store was in Mars Hill about 10 miles away. Would have been nice to have known. Cooking utensils in Eagle Nest were shabby especially the cheap frying pans. During Ski Season I think area would have been nice but not during Fall, top looked like a leveled mountain.
We found the stay frustrating.

We were at the cabin for a family getaway w/ several children. We were surrounded by loud parties in cabins to the left and back of our cabin both nights of our stay. The parties went on well into the early morning and people were inside and outside. When we arrived, there were cars lined up in front of our cabin for the parties. We had a good time otherwise. However, it is unlikely that we will return to Scenic Wolf due to this experience.

The 4 bedroom house gave my family the privacy bedrooms and baths that we needed and also the common area that we needed to visit and enjoy being together. It was much better than a hotel.
The clubhouse pool was much enjoyed by the whole family, including the grandchildren. The pool table in the basement was also enjoyed by all.
The only problems were that the kitchen was not well supplied with pots and pans and enough glasses. It had lots of dishes. We did our cookiing there. Some of the den furniture needed to be replaced.
It was a beautiful setting. The house was well laid out. We had a great family holiday together. I would definitely go again!

Our family consisted of a mother & father with their 3 adult children plus 3 spouses and their combined 5 grandchildren. This is our second annual trip to Scenic Wolf Resorts and we will return again next year! The price is excellent and the views are magnificent! We have family ties in Mars Hill, NC so we are able to turn a family vacation into a family reunion each time we come. The 4th of July fireworks at Scenic Wolf Resorts were very impressive this year, and we were able to watch from the front porch of the cabin. On the next night we saw a second firework show nearby from the back decks of the cabin. The kids and adults both enjoyed the pool and hot tubs, especially the water slide! Great vacation destination, even in the summer!

We had a great time, the cabin is a little worn and could use some refurbing. The only real thing that we we're not happy with, was the ants in the kitchen. They were everywhere and the downstairs TV didn't operate. The view was great.

This is a nice home that can accomodate 10-12 people with ease. The house is well appointed and equipped, and the views are worth the drive up the mountain. The indoor pool and slide at the lodge (only a short walk from the house) were a big hit with the kids.
Relaxing Weekend - A Few Suggestions for Guest
Left on 03/25/2010 for a stay in March 2010 | Sturkie
We enjoyed staying at the Scenic Wolf Resort and plan to do it again when it is snowing in order to take advantage of the winter activities. The Eagles Nest was a comfortable cabin and our teenagers especially enjoyed the bottom floor with pool table, wide screen tv, and hot tub. They were able to hook up their video games and use the wifi without any problems. I would suggest that any large family that plans to use this cabin bring their own coffee pot because the one in this cabin does not keep the coffee warm and only provides a few cups of coffee. Also I would suggest they bring their own towels because there was not an adequate number for the 12 person occupancy that the house holds. All in all it was a good, enjoyable stay. It is also located near Asheville so we took a nice trip into the very eclectic downtown area of Asheville.
Our Son's Fall Wedding at Scenic Wolf Resort

We loved being in the Eagles Nest cabin with the gas logs and cozy rooms. We
were in Mars Hill for our Son's Fall wedding. The leaves were many gorgeous
colors & it even snowed on his wedding day. Our families rented several
cabins for a long week-end in the mountains & it was wonderful. The cabins
were ready & well stocked with soap & necessities for us. They were very
clean & the view when the fog lifted was beautiful! We brought our food with
us including wonderful take-out meals from Bellagios in Weaverville. Our only
problem was poor cell phone service in the mountains.
