TennesseeNot that clean...
Left on 02/07/2013 for a stay in November 2012
Toboggan Run was furnished nicely and a great location! Our only concern was the cleanliness of the cabin. In fact we had to clean the kitchen before we started cooking. The refrigerator leaked and the kitchen/cabin could have offered a few more "basic stock" items, like a broom, mop and a vacuum cleaner that worked.

Left on 01/30/2013 for a stay in October 2012
Had five sisters' and one brother plus many inlaws, enjoyed the Biltmore, each of use had our children and grand children. Each cabin had a pool table, ours had a foosball table, each had a sauna, and alot of board and card games/ would highly recomend this cabin, well worth the money we spent on it.

Once we got to the house was ok. To get to the place the first night was horrible. We were lost for about 2 hours. We could not get a hold of anyone since we didn't have reception. And when we did no one answered the phone at the office. I guess this area is a nice place to stay when you r looking for a skiing experience. Not when you have a large family and perhaps are looking to relax. The surrounding was very noisy because of the time of the year I guess. College students gathering. The last night we were there we did enjoy a gorgeous stary night.

NashvilleGreat for our family get together after graduation --
Left on 05/31/2012 for a stay in May 2012
We rented two cabins at Scenic Wolf Resort after the graduation ceremonies of our neice and nephew. Since one graduated from UT/Knoxville and the other at Clemson our families decided to "meet in the middle" outside of asheville, NC. It was a great set-up since each family could have their own cabin but still be "together" for playing cards, visiting and sharing meals. We loved Toboggan Run for it's rec room as well as bed set-up Unfortunately for the owners, the sleeper sofa in the rec room showed some serious wear/abuse as well as some of the carpet going down into the rec room -- other than that, I felt the cabin was nice and clean. There was plenty of room for everyone and the teenagers and college-age relatives in our group had a great time being together. Several went swimming but we never tried out the hot tub but I'm sure it would have been nice. We were there during a non-peak season so we had most of the place to ourselves. The only thing some might find a drawback is that it's somewhat remote so you'll need to stock up on food for meals, etc. so you don't have to make the trek down the hill more times than necessary. We found the people on staff, both over the phone and in person, to be very helpful and accomodating.

Alexandria, VA.In for a wedding
Left on 04/19/2012 for a stay in April 2012
Scenic Wolf Resort was the perfect place for a wedding. The "cabins" were huge, had everything we needed, and were easy walking distance to each other, the pool, and the Lodge where the wedding took place. Excellent price for what you get. Tim and his wife at the small general store were very helpful in getting last minute items for us. Check in was a breeze. Very low keyed, casual atmosphere. Excellent family time mixed in with trips to the pool for the kids and lots of hiking. One note on location: if you come up the mountain's private asphalt road in winter they say you'll need 4WD and perhaps chains: they are not kidding.

Atlantic Beach, N.C.We had an amazing time, such a beautiful place!!
Left on 02/16/2012 for a stay in February 2012
To start, you have a very beautiful home! I love the way it was layed out. We had a large group , and there was plenty on room for all of us comfortably . I liked how the game room was down stairs, we had 4 younger kids that stayed down there and it was a nice divider. The fire places were lovely and we used them often. We had some trouble getting the downstairs fireplace lighted Saturday night.
We loved the location do the home, very peaceful, beautiful, and quiet. One thing that was said on the home rental, was that the board rental and lifts were just a step away, and they were actually down the mountain,I didn't like it that we were told it was steps away and it wasn't. We thought we could walk there.
The hot tub was great! One suggestion tho, I think you could have a better view of the resort if you were to raise it up, it was alittle low and couldn't seen the scenery very well. But other than that we defiantly enjoyed it, very relaxing.
We got some snow this past weekend and the pipes froze saturday night. When we woke up sun morning and we had not water :( We were all not to happy about that. The resort should have better piping for temperatures getting very low like that.
We also met the mayor of the resort, can't remember his name, but he was a very helpful and thoughtful person. He was pulling people out that we're stuck in the snow, and even took our friends to the grocery store! Everybody at the resort was very friendly.
Overall we had a wonderful stay! We will def be returning to your resort in the future! ;) the home felt very warm and inviting, and thank you again for having us ;)

Left on 01/05/2012 for a stay in December 2011
All 9 of us stayed comfortably New Years weekend!
It was lots of fun including shooting pool, getting in the hot tub, watching bowl games and last but not least, being able to drive a few minutes to go skiing was wonderful. We were impressed that they even had snow in 60 degree weather. Everything works. The kitchen needs a few bowls. Very minor. -

Naples, FloridaNice cabin, but, not a great family vacation location.
Left on 07/20/2011 for a stay in July 2011
The people at Scenic Wolf were very kind and friendly. The cabin was nice. I found the floors and carpets to be a little bit dirty for my taste for a rental of this level. I also noticed that the kitchen was very inadequate particularly in light of the fact that their was no restaurant open at the resort in the summer. A set of mixing bowls, some matching dishes, and a full set of pots and pans seems appropriate for a cabin that sleeps ten. We brought several children and there was simply no place for them to play outdoors. There is no green area or even flat area where they could get out and run without the fear of them falling near the steep mountain inclines. The remoteness of the resort, while charming, left us with really no discernable activities without a one hour drive. The pool area is fine, but a bit run down and dated. Perhaps the resort is better during ski season...there was simply not much to do during the summer months.

> Hi! My name is Kara Hoekwater. I am an owner of the cabin Toboggan Run where
you just stayed. I have read your review and was very upset to hear of your
disappointment. We work very hard to keep the cabin stocked with all the needs
of a large family. I was wondering if you would let me know exactly the items
that were missing to make your stay complete? I ask this because, I just
visited in June and bought a new set of pots and pans, restocked the kitchen
utensils and replaced all the mattresses.
>
> I also saw you had children with you. Being a mountain resort, it is
difficult to have much green areas. However, I am upset that nobody informed
you of the playground at the resort or the basketball hoop in the lodge parking
lot. There are also lots of kid friendly hiking trails right out the back door.
I apologize that you were not completely satisfied with your stay.
>
> We have young children, and travel to the cabin often. I am working on a
"welcome letter" to help guests that book our cabin. The letter would list
things to do close by, items to bring to make your stay complete, and favorite
places to visit. As a past guest, please feel free to let me know of anything
else that would help me better our cabin. Again, I apologize our cabin didn't
meet your standards. Most importantly, I want you to know that we will listen
to your comments and make any needed changes. I hope you give us another chance
in the future! I hope to hear from you.

This cabin was more than I expected. It was a lucky find on the internet and close to the zip lining that our group wanted to do. I was a little disappointed as the cabin did not have some of the basic kitchen needs, a trash can in the master bedroom is needed, and unfortunately someone had left trash in a trashcan and apparently it had been there awhile. But overall, the views were spectacular and I hope that this resort can grow to the potential that it has proposed. It is definitely a unique find and I would love to come back.

Owners Response:
As owners of Toboggan Run, we value our guests opinions. We do our best to make changes and improvements when needed. Therefore, we made a special visit to replace two queen mattresses with brand new pillow tops mattresses. For our guests added comfort, we also replaced a 3rd queen mattress with a King pillow top mattress. In addition to our visit, we restocked the kitchen, added a trash can in the master bedroom and did a deep spring cleaning. Toboggan Run is ready for our guests to have a memorable time and a comfortable stay.

If I have any complaints I would just say the beds are all really hard.. There maybe should be a feather bed some where so you have the option of making it softer you can..But everything else is so nice you easily forget the hard bed..

Everything was great. The weather cooperated and the house was just what we needed. The kitchen could have been a bit better equipped but it certainly was adequate. We stayed in "All Decked Out" 3 years ago and while it's kitchen was a bit better equipped and there was more room there, the location of "Toboggan Run" was wonderful. The children slid down the embankment across the road from the front door numberous times. It was very nice to be so close to the office and the lodge.

We stayed at the Wolf Scenic Resort in 91 - Toboggan Run. The cabin was spectacular. From having breakfast overlooking the mountains, to a cook-out (with the help of the "mayor"), to watching the beautiful sunset--we could not ask for anything more. There was plenty of comforts for home for cooking, down to a kettle (which came in handy since I am married to an Englishmen who never leaves home without one). The decor was very cozy and comforting, we loved watching college football in the downstairs great room even though our dear Notre Dame lost. We were greeted by the Mayor, a great welcome. He made us feel at home instantly!
All around, this is truly a bit of heaven up on the NC mountains. I would absolutely come back, and although I fell in love with Toboggan Run, I might try a cabin in the lower section so there is not an obstructed view of the majestic mountain range. Overall rating: spectacular. -

We really enjoyed our stay at Toboggan Run. With 9 people in all, there was plenty of room for everyone. There was so much to do... even the adults had fun playing games! Pool, foosball, boardgames (scrabble) were a family favorite every night!
We loved sitting in the hottub with the amazing views of the mountains! Breathtaking! Lets not forget the swimming pool & slide... the kids loved it! And the staff... very friendly!
You can tell the owners have put lots of thought into what guest would want in the cabin. I could not think of one thing missing! Every room was amazing and cozy! The kitchen had every item I needed to cook up a yummy meal for the crew. We had a blast! Lots of wonderful memories were created. We loved our stay in Toboggan Run, and will definetly be back for ski season. Cant wait to come back!! -
