Port Washington, New YorkPerfect Weekend (Splurge On The Sauna!)
Left on 04/28/2013 for a stay in April 2013
My boyfriend and I stayed over a long weekend and absolutely loved the chalet. It was extraordinarily well kept and beautiful, and Jean Jacques was very accommodating. We would've regretted not trying the sauna so I would definitely recommend it to future renters (it was the icing on the cake)!
We had never visited North Carolina before so we were expecting a more woodsy, isolated location but the reality was much better. The chalet's location was perfect--equidistant from Downtown asheville and The Biltmore Estate, and every amenity is available in the surrounding town. Nothing was more than a ten minute drive away.
The only minor drawback was the steep driveway, but not a problem once it's navigated a couple times. -

St. Petersburg, FloridaBeautiful setting--picturesque and pristine cabin in the woods
Left on 11/06/2012 for a stay in August 2012
My partner and I spent the week in this beautiful woodsey setting--so close to a mountain trail--and yet very accessible to the beltway around asheville. The cabin was lovely--super clean and nicely decorated. The kitchen has all new appliances in it, and being able to prepare breakfast and some meals made eating out less of a necessity.
The owner was very hospitable and easy to contact--a perfect host.
Only two slight drawbacks--which some people wouldn't even care about--Broadcast TV reception was very limited (no cable), and the high speed Internet access came and went (which made watching TV programing over the internet a bit difficult.) We were staying there over the time of the summer olympics which is why we noticed--otherwise, everything else was very enjoyable. -

My husband and I recently stayed at the cute and quaint chalet in asheville.
The owner, Jean-Jacques, was very helpful and friendly. He was available if we needed anything or had questions.
The chalet is immaculate and has beautiful wood construction throughout.
The sleeping area is very cozy. I don't think either of us has had this much sleep in years! Despite having allergies and being a very light sleeper, I did not have any problems with either of these issues. The bed was very comfortable and it was very quiet at night.
The full kitchen is well appointed and has a cute nook for dining. We had breakfast every day there as well as a few dinners.
The living room is cozy and comfortable for reading, watching TV, or listening to music.
At first, we had some difficulties getting connected to the Wi-Fi; however, this was corrected and we had no problems after that.
We did a lot of hiking on this trip and were very glad that there was a sauna downstairs to use. It is also immaculate and very comfortable to use.
Aside from food, the chalet had all of the supplies and amenities that we needed to be comfortable for a week or so. We stayed for a week but definitely could've stayed longer. -

PittsburghQuiet, relaxing weekend getaway in a natural setting.

The chalet was a great place for my wife and I to stay over the 2012 Memorial Day weekend. The chalet is very new and everything was clean and in a great condition. The setting is great - very natural with lots of trees and gardens. We appreciated the setting as a contrast to the busyness of downtown asheville. It is very convenient to downtown - maybe a 15 minute drive at the most. Overall, a great place to stay and a great experience. We will definitely stay here again.

My wife and I went out to asheville to enjoy some hiking and downtown asheville. The location was perfect because we were less than 5 minutes to downtown asheville and 5 minutes to the Blue Ridge parkway. The cottage itself is wonderful, my wife and I only wish we had spent more time there. Everyone appeared to be new and was extremely clean. It was very comfortable and we would definitely stay there again.

Very nice combination of convenience, privacy, peacefulness, and a touch of luxury.
Very close to the Blue Ridge Parkway and the Interstate system, but in a quiet neighborhood with no through traffic, large trees and lots of green everywhere. Comfortable deck looks out onto an interesting garden with very tall trees and herbs and natural landscaping. Landlord was knowledgeable and interesting to talk with and very ready to help.
Inside was very comfortable and perfectly sized and well-equipped for two people wanting to get away for a few days. Kitchen was convenient and the bed was very comfortable.
All in all, perfect for what I wanted -- convenient to town yet peaceful and quiet, well-equipped, beautiful wood interior gave the chalet a luxurious tone which I thoroughly enjoyed.
Highly recommended for one or two people. -

A truly enchanting place to get away, I was actually in aVL on business and found this listing by accident. But it highly exceeded my expectations. The chalet was enchanting. Tastefully and comfortably furnished. jean Jaques was very helpful and courteous. I would not hesitate to recommend this truly wonderful little treasure.

My boyfriend and I stayed in this house this past weekend and it was a great time. I brought my dog and we were able to hike the trails that were directly behind the house. The house was extremely clean and had everything we needed. We made dinner one of the nights and had all of the utensils and pots we needed. The Chalet is very close to downtown asheville and was very easy to find. We had such an enjoyable weekend and I would love to stay there again.

Cary, NCA welcome woodsy getaway with thoughtful touches
Left on 03/21/2012 for a stay in March 2012
Everything about this chalet is tasteful, cozy, and well-maintained. Although the property is on a country road and not particularly isolated, it is also well situated for peace and quiet. My wife and I have stayed there twice. We particularly enjoy relaxing on the porch. The chalet's downstairs sauna is invigorating. Our teenagers give the TV two thumbs up. The loft accommodates teenagers more easily than adults, if only because access to that room is via a ladder. Fun fact: Owner Jean Jacques is a beekeeper, too, and his bees (across a yard and driveway from the chalet) are as mellow as he is.

My boyfriend and I rented this chalet did not want to leave! This lavish abode was actually our first vacation rental and the owner, Jean Jacques, was very welcoming. We will definitely be back and can't wait to see his lovely garden in the spring.

Rented this beautiful chalet for a group of 4 moms needing a break from busy schedules. Stayed 2 nights and enjoyed it so much that we never left it from the time of check in until check out. We plan to return again later this year. Grocery and other shopping near by if you so desire. Owner was helpful, friendly & very accommodating.

Durham, NCChalet on the edge of town - convenient access to town and trail
Left on 01/17/2012 for a stay in January 2012
This is an absoloutely beautiful chalet that was designed with attention to detail. The interior has lots of wood - much of which was milled from trees on the chalet lot. The interior is nicely laid out in an open floor plan (including the open bedroom and loft areas) and has adequate closet and dresser space for storage during your stay. The kitchen is fully equipped with appliances and very nice cookware, utensils, flatware and dishes. The bathroom has a large enclosed shower, plenty of counter space and a heated floor which is wonderful in cooler weather. Plenty of towels, sheets and extra blankets are provided. Everything is immaculate - tidy, well kept and very clean. The option of using the sauna is a great plus too.
The owner is quick to provide informtaion about the area and the chalet ammenities. The location is convenient to most everything - less than a 10 minute drive to the heart of asheville and within walking distance of the Mountains to Sea Trail and the Craft art Museum.
The only critical comment I have is that from the description and photos, we were expecting a more secluded site. The chalet is on the owner's home property in a (nice) residential neighborhood bordering the woods. We were expecting something a little more secluded and actually out in the woods.
All in all, it was a wonderful place to stay for our 4-day get-away. -

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the chalet over Thanksgiving weekend. Jean-Jacques was friendly and helpful while still giving us our privacy. The chalet was beautiful and very cozy. It is obvous the owner takes great pride in it and his property. Make sure to take advantage of the extensive music and movie selection provided for guests of the chalet. The location is great--just minutes from downtown, the Grove Park Inn and the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Left on 11/23/2011 for a stay in November 2011
For those who want to hit the trail staying here is the equivalent of staying in asheville for those who want to walk to downtown. We walked out the front door and made our way towards the Mountains to Sea Trail, Although outside the city, a large grocery store is conveniently located about 5 minutes away. The interior wooden craftsmanship of the chalet is pleasing, and the loft was a real treat for our two younger kids who set up their own play and sleep area and entertained themselves while we made breakfast and dinner in the cozy nook that seats four.
Jean Jacques was cordial and helped with information about the nearby Blue Ridge Parkway. The location is great, unless you want to walk to downtown, but this is a place for a couple or smaller family to forget about the traffic and head for the mountains or just enjoy the sunset. We hope to return in 2012.
