The Bunkhouse is a detached studio garage apt on our small 3 acre farm. It is newly renovated and fully equipped to sleep 2 comfortable. We are just 15 minutes north of downtown Asheville and 5 minutes to shopping, dining, golf, hiking. There is a hatchery supported creek within walking distance. The property is separate from our house and has a garage the visitor can use to park in. Great rate, peaceful and convenient.

Cheri is a very friendly and thoughtful host. It was my birthday weekend and she gave us homemade salsa and a french toast bake. She was also very helpfull in informing us of activities and places to see. She and her family will not bother you if you want to be left alone, but are very friendly if you want to share your vacation.
The home was amazing! The kitchen has everything one would need to cook in every night. The living room is perfect to just relax and watch TV or a movie. The bed was comfortable and slept two just fine. There is a nice closet with a dresser, and it was so nice to pull into a garage every night.
Would definitely recommend and visit again!

Fayetteville, NCWhat a Deal... Good Facilities, Good Location, Good People!
Left on 09/10/2012 for a stay in September 2012
Turned out to be just as good as portrayed on the web. Much better than staying in a hotel, especially if you want to bring your own food and cook. Good Hdtv and Wifi connection. Maybe 10 minutes from downtown asheville, but you're in the country, about 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Kc & Cheri are great hosts. Thanks to kc especially for pointing me to Stoney Knob Cafe. Eclectic atmosphere, attentive wait staff, good food, catering to a vibrant lunch crowd from blue collar workers to bankers, etc. *Tour some of the galleries in Old Biltmore Village, or visit the NC arboretum, or go shopping. All within easy reach.

My partner and I stayed here for five nights. Cheri and her family are great, the apartment is nicely furnished, and the location is good. This was so much better than a hotel: Not only is there a kitchen (with everything that we needed for cooking), we also had full use of the garage, a washer and dryer, fresh vegetables from the garden, and plenty of trip suggestions from Cheri! I've recommended this to several friends.

Bunkhouse is the Best!
Fayetteville, NCThe Bunkhouse is a perfect haven away from home.
Left on 06/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012
My husband and I stayed at the Bunkhouse for Memorial Day weekend and loved it! It is close to the main house, which is handy, but also private and quiet (we only heard crickets at night). We made ample use of the washer/dryer and kitchen ammenities. The Swigarts were sweet and helpful in every way possible, from giving us excellent sight-seeing and food recommendations, to making us delicious brownies for our trip home! Did I mention that the Bunkhouse was very affordable and cute as a button?? We plan on returning as soon as we can!!

Kathy and I enjoyed the hospitality at Cheri's place for nearly a week on our first ever visit to asheville. Only a 15 minute drive from the heart of the city, the cozy little apartment was immaculate in every respect, the property lovely, our hosts, K.C. and Cheri, charming and gracious to a fault.
We feel that we have made new friends and will definitely be returning to explore more of the beauty and wonder of the region!

Cheri & kc and their awesome dogs Bella and Jazzy greet you as you arrive. The Bunkhouse is a great place to stay right in the mountains. We vacationed there for 10 days. It's super quiet; beautiful views; and it's like a home away from home. There is a kitchen and a mini-living room with a couch and tv. A lot of closet space and use of the washer and dryer. The property is just north of asheville in a great town called Weaverville. We also enjoyed wandering around Weaverville. The owners are very nice and helpful. We really enjoyed our experience at the Bunkhouse and can't wait to return!

Felt Like Home
Left on 11/08/2011 for a stay in November 2011
Everything with this rental went smooth from the start. Cheri was very helpful from the first email until departure. The communication through phone contact and email was prompt.
My boyfriend and I stayed for four nights. We were looking for a fall vacation and did not want the hotel feel. This location was perfect for that. We spent time out exploring and then came "home" to this. That is exactly what it felt like, like we were going home.
Cheri and K.C. made us feel very welcome and more like family then a renter. Cheri
provided a lot of information and guides on the area and even loaned us a GPS.
The apartment was very clean and cozy. We are used to a bigger bed and feared the standard size bed would pose a problem but we adjusted quite well.
We did not spend a lot of time hanging out in the unit so the not so modern TV was not a problem for us. We were happy to have free internet access as we did use our computers here and there.
I look forward to returning to asheville and will most certainly use Cheri and K.C again!! I highly recommend this property to anyone traveling alone or with one other person! -

Charleston, SCExcellent stay with great location

As a young couple, we had a wonderful experience during our weekend stay in asheville. We took a get-away weekend and enjoyed a combination of hiking in great fall weather and then heading into asheville (a short 15 min ride) for the evenings. Cheri was absolutely attuned to our every need, including great recommendations of local spots (i.e. the Well-Bred Bakery is a must). Everything was clean and well-kept, and we had no difficulty finding it. I would highly recommend this spot to anyone looking for a getaway vacation in the asheville area.

The appartmnet was perfect for a couple like us. Everything was clean and the renter-family was friendly and always helpful. The location is really good if you want to go hiking, but also if you want to visit asheville as it is only 15 minutes away from downtown. And the price is absolutely worth it!!

Our experience was absolutly one of the best vacations we have ever taken. The hospitality of Cheri and K.C was great. They were so helpful in giving us print outs of places to visit and they even rated them for us. Cheri went above and beyond to help us with discounts to the Biltmore Estates and suggestions of places to eat. The location of the bunkhouse was perfect for everything we wanted to do. The rates were better than any hotel could offer. We will be visiting again and taking along several family members as well. Best of all we made two new friends for life.

Want the real asheville/Blue Mountain experience??? Than forget a cold, sterile hotel chain and book with Cheri! I was going to a wedding in asheville and decided to make a week long vacation of it and I was lucky enough to find The Bunkhouse which suited my needs perfectly :) The place was real clean and cozy, in a safe and scenic location that was only a 15 minute drive from downtown asheville! I was going solo, however, this place would be perfect for a couple as well. I really enjoyed my stay and meeting the Swigart's who made me feel very welcome. They always respected my privacy but were always there if I needed anything- what else can you ask for?!?! Even downtown Weaverville had a number of great restaurants, a rocking pizza joint and a delicious bakery- all within 5 minutes of the Bunkhouse. Overall, I give this place and my experience there 6 stars- an extra star for exceeding my expectations and it will surly exceed yours! Book without hesitation :)

this place was exactly what we were looking for. clean, , quiet, and affordable. the owners were very accommodating, helpful, and available, but also gave us space and privacy. they were there if we needed them, but not intrusive at all. the apartment has everything you need, even toiletries. the location is great: on a beautiful farm, very close to downtown asheville. we will be back for sure!

Left on 05/09/2011 for a stay in April 2011
I spent a wonderful month in the Weaverville/ Asheville area, with a wonderful family.Cheri, did her best to make me feel at home, and it worked. It was really nice to have a garage to park my vehicle, and the apartment which was over the garage was very comfortable. In the month I spent with this family, they gave me a real good lay of the land and told me about some fun activities that I might want to do, most important, they gave me friendship. If your looking to move to the area Cheri, is a Real Estate agent who really knows her business. Her husband, K.C. is there if you need a home built. Do not pass up a good thing, you will not be sorry!
