The cottage is surrounded by lush organic gardens with seasonal produce and cut flowers for guests to enjoy. We had a very nice stay at the Lakeside Cottage. The cottage is clean and spacious, with just the right amount of space for our family of four to stay, it reminded us of our first lakeside cottage home so much. We loved the nature trails, and visits from the chickens! The kids loved the swing that took them high in the sky over the lake. I love to cook and the owners were happy to oblige my need for many kitchen towels! Everything was is great working order, warm and cozy, with nice towels and sheets. Tons of interesting books, a selection of movies, and cd's were available. Thanks for a great week to the owners, Tama and allison!

My huaband and friend rented this cottage for our hot air balloon adventure in asheville for 3 days. It was 5 minutes from downtown asheville which was a big plus. It's located in an older neighborhood on Kenilworth Lake and the setting is very pretty with lots of trees and the many gardening projects of the owner Tama. The cottage itself is older but the rooms are a decemt size with hardwood floors. The one bath is small but sufficient however a towel rack would have been nice. No bath soap or hand soap was there when we arrived but when we asked for hand soap it was provided promptly. It would have been nice if it came fully stocked with paper products and we didn't have to request items such as toilet tissue. The kitchen is furnished with a mismatch of different items. No dishwasher but we didn't eat there much. The lighting was not good except in the kitchen. Bring your own light bulbs if you want to read in the living room! There was only one light bulb in the ceiling fixture in the bathroom so it was very difficult to put on makeup there. I would probably give this place 5 stars if it wasn't for the lack of paper products and lighting which we found to be very inconvenient but an easy fix. It's not the Hilton but it's a cozy place in a very pretty and convenient location.

This was our first stay at this cute property and it was well worth it! The owners definitely made us feel at home by welcoming us as soon as we arrived. Tama told us to help ourselves to their garden and their beautiful property around the cottage. We loved doing the swing, rowing in the lake and exploring the beautiful trails in the woods. It's a very short drive to downtown asheville and there are plenty of dining/shopping options right near the property. We have already talked about returning sometime in the near future because we love asheville and this spot is perfect for us.

Everything about our stay was perfect from the swing that goes out over the lake to the fresh eggs and veggies the owners gave us from their chickens and their garden. We had more fun exploring this property than we did going into town and doing things. You feel so peaceful and secluded in this location yet you are minutes from everything. Our 7 and 9 year old daughters didn't want to leave the house because there were so many different fun things to do and see. The owners were great, they're very child friendly and very helpful in letting us know about unique, off the beaten path adventures we all enjoyed. We would definitely stay here again and hope to soon!

There are so many adjectives I could use to describe our stay at Lakeside; here are a few:
Peaceful, Beautiful, Relaxing, Kid-Friendly, and Cozy! The cottage is just 5 minutes from Downtown asheville, and about 10 minutes from the Blue Ridge Parkway. Yet, you feel like you are a million miles from everythign while you are there. The owners are very kind and accomodating. We enjoyed getting to know them some, and we are certain that one day we will return to Lakeside, a place that will make your vacation...Perfect!Response from Allison and Tama - 07/04/2012

My husband and I found this to be the perfect choice for our visit to asheville in early May. We were looking for 2 things...enjoying the peace and tranquility of the outdoors, but in a location convenient to downtown asheville and Biltmore Estate. We couldn't have made a better choice. The cottage is literally a couple minutes' drive from downtown asheville, and maybe 10 minutes from Biltmore. The best part, though, is the cottage setting...nestled on a wooded lot, within steps of an idyllic lake with rowboat, dock and hammocks. The cottage itself is a pleasant blend of your grandma's old-tyme cottage and more contemporary decor and furnishings. The owners are both fantastic people who are happy to socialize or allow you to enjoy their property privately. If you wish, they will light a bonfire at night so you can enjoy the outdoors even more.
Truly, our only regret is that we didn't spend more time there. We are planning to return for a week, hopefully sometime this fall...so I hope you don't book them up completely! :)Response from Allison and Tama - 06/24/2011

My partner, my best friend and I rented the Lakeside Cottage for about a week when we decided to spend our New Year's holiday in asheville. We could not have asked for a better place! The cottage is spacious, private, and full of natural light with beautiful views. The owners are gracious and very prompt. The home was spotless and the kitchen is very workable, with plenty of space to stash your delicious local groceries. We really loved the cottage and will not be staying in an asheville hotel again (unless of course the cottage is booked).

My family had a wonderful time at the cottage. As soon as we arrived, the owner greeted us and within minutes, offered us use of his fishing pole! The property is exactly as described and the setting couldn't be more tranquil. It is very convenient to dining and grocery shopping, yet tucked away enough to 'get away from it all'. We would certainly recommend the cottage.
