This is a beautiful home, and we enjoyed our stay. As we were in town for a wedding we didn't get to spend a lot of time here during the day, but the beds were very comfy and the extras in the fridge were very thoughtful! We will definitely recommend Knollwood to any family and friends in the future!

We were seven adults looking to spend a holiday weekend near Asheville and stumbled upon Knollwood. The cabin was perfect for us--three beautifully-appointed bedrooms, two bathrooms and a lofted space with an additional bed. There was a large communal area and a marvelous kitchen, perfect for cooking up family-style meals, plus a great wrap-around porch we didn't get to make use of as it was so cold and snowy during our stay. I imagine in summer months, that porch would be awesome to have dinner out on.
The cabin in general had everything you could ever need on a weekend away, from puzzles to board games to a washer/dryer to kitchen appliances (like a waffle maker!) to first aid supplies to a piano. Several of us had to work over the weekend, so the strong WiFi connection was much appreciated.
The location is about 25 minutes from Asheville (though be sure and write down detailed directions before you go as it can be difficult to find in the dark! and some cell providers don't work all the way out there). The owners were very accommodating and responsive--every time I contacted them prior to our arrival, they got back to us in a matter of hours. And they were so sweet to have a cake waiting for me, as we were there to celebrate my 30th birthday; they also had coffee and breakfast goods in the fridge for us, which was quite thoughtful.
The only caveat--and I didn't understand this from the description given that the house is listed under "private home" on Airbnb (the agency we used for our rental)--is that they do live downstairs, with a direct staircase leading to their in-law. So it might feel weird to some people (as it did us) to be staying in someone's home while they are there, too. We were afraid we were going to keep them up with our late-night laughter and card-playing!
But all in all, a great stay and I would surely visit Knollwood again. -

We recently spent a week-end at this wonderful establishment and would highly recommend it to anyone wanting a home away from home during their stay in asheville and the surrounding areas. We honestly can say that we have never experienced such genuine hospitality, and we have travelled throughout Europe, Southern africa and the U.S.A. The home is situated just 25 minutes to asheville, 15 to Weaverville, Mars Hill and Marshall NC, and is in a beautiful, quiet, wooded community with a pond. The luxury accommodations are perfect for families, couples or singles wanting to get away from it all, but still be close to it all, a rational alternative. The bedrooms are beautifully furnished and you will sleep like a log in the comfortable beds. Every convenience is at your disposal, including a fully equipped gourmet kitchen and a huge deck to enjoy your breakfast on in the morning and sip your mint juleps before dinner in the early evening. The birds visiting the various feeders around the house are a delight to behold. You will not be disappointed.
