Description from the owner

We call our apartment EP4. EP4 has many interesting artworks from young Athenian artists. It is stylishly furnished with many pieces created by "MAP", whose furniture is in the permanent collections of MOMA in New York and the V&A; in London.

We greet all of our guests when they arrive. We take them on a tour of our neighbourhood pointing out our favourite cafes, tavernas, galleries and museums.

EP16 No 4 is a bright and airy apartment with beautiful views over our inner courtyard garden.

EP16 No 4 is one of five apartments we have in our classic Bauhaus building nestled in a quiet street in the centre of Athens.

      Best place to stay

Left on 04/18/2013 for a stay in April 2013

We stayed in EP4 in april 2013 for two nights at the end of our two week stay in Greece. This was our second time we utilized the fantastic services of Boutique athens and their staff Lia and Costas. At the beginning of our trip we stayed at their beautiful MO1 property for four days. Boutique athens offers a reliable, comprehensive, detail oriented, professional service. Costas greeted us at the Metro station and walked us through the area and to the apartment. Costas provided us with maps and suggestions to ensure we had a perfect stay. Boutique athens also works with an extremely reliable and pleasant taxi driver, Michalis, who we used to take us to the airport several times during our two week stay in Grecce.
Ep4 is a one bedroom apartment centrally located in the heart of the old city. The area is surrounded by taverns, restaurants, bakeries, coffee places and perfect to stroll to the major attractions. This property doesnot have a lift. The apartment is spacious, clean and well maintained. The bedding is extremely comfortable, clean, has good linen, pillows, towels, toiletries just like a high end hotel. The kitchen is well equipped and stocked with milk, coffee, tea, sugar, water upon your arrival. The apartment also has a washer and dryer, iron, hair dryer. The roof top has a beautiful view to the acropolis and is perfect for a relaxing time.
      Boutique athens is the best!!!

The best place to stay in Europe period!

Left on 01/10/2013 for a stay in November 2012

I honestly can't say enough good things about the apartment and the folks at Boutique athens! Before we even made it to athens, Lia and Costas were making sure our stay was as amazing as possible. The customer service is absolutely unbeatable. Our flights changed at the last minute, and Costas was able to change our pick up arrangements at the last minute. (On a side note, definitely allow Costas to book you the taxi to and from the apartment - it saves time, money, and extra stress).
When we arrived, Lia met us at the apartment to give us a tour of the apartment and the private area on the roof. After the apartment tour, Lia made time to show us around the neighborhood and show us some of her favorite places to go (tip: make sure to listen - the restaurants and bakeries she pointed out were amazing). Lia went above and beyond, especially since she moved around her schedule to meet us since our flights were changed. I was so impressed by Lia as a host and as a person in general.
As for the apartment, we couldn't have picked a nicer or better located place! We could walk to pretty much anything we wanted to see in athens, the restaurants in the neighborhood were fantastic, and it was neat to see the older lady in the building next the apartment working with garlic. The entire apartment looked contemporary and recently renovated. The size was perfect for two people and the roof made for a good view of acropolis at night!
Like I said before, I can't say enough good things about the apartment and Boutique athens. I have already recommended this apartment to my parents and in-laws as a summer destination spot and I recommend it to everyone else! Oh and the price was very decent for the city and the service!

      Fantastic apartment

Left on 09/11/2012 for a stay in August 2012

Dean, Lia and Costas made us feel very welcome. From Lia meeting us at the Metro station and showing us around, to Dean's friendly aussie banter we felt right at home. The apartment is fantastic, spacious and modern with an awesome bathroom. The roof garden with views to the acropolis is a real bonus. Located within easy walking distance of all the main attractions of athens we recommend anyone looking for comfortable accommodations to give this a try.

      Fantastic Service

Left on 07/02/2012 for a stay in June 2012

My husband and I are from the U.S. and traveled to athens from June 10-14, 2012 and The Island of Santorini (Oia) June 14-17. So glad we went at a not-so-busy time of the year. I can't imagine being able to enjoy the sites or restaurants in peak-season with so many more tourists.

We were greeted at the airport by Michalis who drove us to our apartment in his air-conditioned taxi. Attentive, informative, sociable and a wonderful mini-tour-guide! We were welcomed by Lia at the apartment, and I thoroughly enjoyed meeting with her. She showed us around the area and I wish I could have had her all day! Very hospitable, informative and appreciative of what little Greek I knew. Thank you, Lia!

The apartment is exactly as represented online via photos and descriptions. Clean, simple and comfy enough for our needs. I felt safe in our complex. There's the outermost door to the complex, a door that leads to our front door as well as our neighbor's, and then our own apt. door. All open and lock with keys. And the hallways have auto/on/off lighting. Also, nice to have two separate air-conditioning units--one in the living room, one in the bedroom. Our downstairs/outdoor neighbor is one of the last few garlic vendors in the city. The couple also happens to be the apartment property manager Costas' parents. Costas also lives across the street and his brother owns the taverna at the end of the road.

The apartment is located in a perfect area as it is close to everything we wanted to do or see. We had no need whatsoever to use a taxi or the metro. Everything was within walking distance: restaurants, tavernas, cafes, bakeries, grocery store, miscellaneous boutiques, Metro, bus stops, Pedestrian Walkway, Plaka flea market, The acropolis, the new acropolis Museum, Ancient agora and Syntagma Square.

      A few pointers:
      1. Make sure you ask Lia to show you how to use the washer/dryer combo. What do each of those icons represent when washing and when drying? What temperature(s) to use for w/d? I did not find the typed directions to be of much help, and the actual manual comes in every language except English.
      2. Ask where the water heater switch is located. We inadvertently turned it off somehow (near the coffee maker in the kitchen) and had cold showers our last night. I should have called Lia, but didn't think of it.
      3. Bathroom floor can get wet from shower overflow, as the shower stall wasn't built high/deep enough to keep all of the water contained.
      4. The streets are all cobblestone. The marble and stones in the ruins can be slippery. Rubber soles are the best, whether via tennis shoes or flip-flops (thongs for those in the U.K.) -- and not those awful, cheap shower shoes! It was hot, but nothing more than what we are already accustomed to during our hot summer months in Florida.

Thank you for a wonderful, everlasting experience!

      Hello Grace!

Glad to hear you enjoyed your trip. Hope to see you again. Greece is a small country but there is so much to offer!

I would like to thank you for your review. It is very helpful to have such thorough reviews.

All our apartments include an updated manual or rather a Q & A sheet where we offer explanations and instructions on things like hot water switches, washing machine instructions in English etc.

I have actually translated all manuals in all apartments necessary, but somehow we did not include the translation for your apartment. In any case as you said when in doubt or need assistance let Boutique Athens staff know!

      My warmest regards.
      Enjoy your travels.

The appartment itself was light, modern and very clean, completed with details like fresh coffee! Fresh milk, water and wine in the fridge, shampoo and soap in the beautyful bathroom, even an european blanket and two topical german magazines! All the guests also could use the roofgarden which was equiped with garden furniture and plants, free water, wine and water and a distant view to the akropolis! copmleted by the personal care from Maria and Lia and the other cooperators!

      Great modern self contained apartment

Left on 08/24/2011 for a stay in May 2011

Our stay at the apartment was excellent. The staff were helpful during the booking and meet us on arrival and briefed on the apartment. Local guide written by owners was very useful. The apartment has everything you really need and you could even enteratin there. We felt welcome, safe and loved the yiayia and papou working in their shop quietly downstairs.

An ideal base in the heart of athens

Left on 12/31/2010 for a stay in February 2010

If you want a first hand experience of the heart of modern athens then this the ideal base. Located in a quiet backstreet in Psirri, adjacent to Monasteraki, it is the emerging Left Bank or Soho or Greenwich Village of modern athens; lots of bars, boutiques, restaurants and theatres.

The apartments themselves are very tasteful conversions of an old town house. They are comfortable, cool in summer and cosy in winter. Ok, the view from your window is not great but more than compensated by a spacious roof terrace with wonderful views of the acropolis. The cosmopolitan management team is very helpful, knowledgeable and most enthusiastic about their adopted city. I can't wait to return (for the third time).

Brilliant accom !! Brilliant service !!!

Left on 12/13/2010 for a stay in September 2010

I was visiting athens for the first time and had chosen this apartment as it was much better value that any hotels I could find online, especially with the free wifi which I was going to need during my stay. The owners had arranged a taxi to be waiting for me at the airport which I found very comforting not knowing where I was going, when the taxi pulled up at the apartment Dean the owner (very simpatico australian) was waiting in the street having communicated with the driver and within 5 minutes I was unwinding in the well appointed spotless apartment. I was so glad not to have booked a hotel, I had such a lot of space, very comfortable bed, large marble bathroom... I was very happy and I highly recommend this apartment.
