This is a 15 bedroom, 18th Century Mansion in the heart of the racing County of Kildare (within 10 miles of The Curragh). Being only 40 miles from Dublin and 20 miles from the centre of Ireland, Bert House is ideal for touring of Ireland, near and far!

Stayed for 3 nights for my 50th, had all the family there about 30 people. Des was great did not interfear just let us get on with enjoying our selfs but was there if needed.We cant stop the mother from going on about the house been so beauitful. Des the whole place is a credit to you and the staff, will recomande to everyone.

In april of this year, I had the wonderful opportunity to stay at The Bert House. The home is beyond belief as the grounds are beautiful and the home itself is so well appointed. We had a group of 14 ladies and we all had everything we needed at our disposal. The owner Des is welcoming and charming and there to help if needed or simply sit and chat by the fireplace. The town of athy nearby was lovely to visit and the pubs were exactly what we were looking for- local people that were great to talk to and so very friendly. We had a driver service (Christy's) that I would also recommend as we were able to take day trips as a group to Dublin and Kilkenny. I would highly recommend a stay at Bert House and can't wait until I can go again!

I recently travelled to Ireland with 14 american women, I was the only native of Ireland. I came back to america with great National pride. Everywhere we travelled, the Irish people were lovely and friendly. This house is gorgeous! Des the owner couldn't have been more welcoming and helpful, he arranged a local driver, Christy, to ferry us around. He always had a smile and was a great driver. The location is so beautiful, fields surround the property with horses grazing and daffodils blooming everywhere. The bedrooms were spacious, beautifully decorated. The en-suite bathrooms were large and the water pressure was good. Des always had the home fires burning, on our return, from long days sightseeing. Athy is a nice little town, with good pubs and a selection of different eateries. I would recommend this place to anyone. Don't wait! Book today.

The mansion is beautiful inside and out -- very "shabby chic". The owned Des is most welcoming and very accomodating. He is happy to tell you about the (friendly) ghosts that live in the mansion and he was happy to set us up with a wonderful cook who made us a divine dinner.
The property is breathtaking, it is absolutely magical to sit outside at dusk with a glass of wine and look out into the hills of Ireland!!Response from Des Kennedy - 08/06/2012

I was part of a group of 14 women that had the most wonderful weeks stay at the Bert House. We had seen pictures on the website, but were still amazed at the size and quality of the accommodations. Each room was beautifully decorated and provided a quite sanctuary for each of us when needed. Des the owner was helpful and a delight with anything we needed. He also arranged a coach and driver for day trips for us, so no driving was required at a very reasonable price. The town of athy is small but very welcoming, both Des and our driver Christy gave us some wonderful recommendations for local restaurants and pubs which we frequented. If our driver was unavailable, a cab to or from town was easily obtainable, so I was pleasantly surprised at not needing a car. Daytrips into Dublin were wonderful and easy at 1 hr away, but it was always good to get back to our beautiful house and lovely town. Highly recommend the Bert House, and I can't wait to go back!

We had a group of 14 women from all over the United States. This Bert House was amazing and the town of athy was charming and welcoming. Des was helpful in recommending transportation for our day trips and the taxi service to and from town was easy and reasonable. This was such a great place to stay. We brought home so many stories and memories. I would highly recommend a trip tho athy and to the Bert House in particular!!!

I recently attended a 9 day workshop at Bert House. It was a wonderful venue, Stately public areas including a large but cosy drawing room where we had many fireside chats. The bedrooms were spacious and beautifully decorated. A big industrial kitchen where our lovely cook prepared fabulous meals for us. I really enjoyed and appreciated all the authentic period features around the house. There is beautiful countryside all around and I enjoyed the walks by the river. I was also thrilled when Des discovered the originals steps to the river which once bought all supplies to the house in it's early days. A wonderful stay and highly recommended

If you and your friends and family want a space for a serious party in the most wonderful old house with space, character, big log fires,grounds and beautiful surroundings, you really couldn't do much better than Bert House in athy. We had the most wonderful time staying for 3 days to celebrate a friends 40th. The kitchen meant our friends could feed us all with gorgeous food, and the living areas plus bar gave us plenty of space for relaxing and chilling. Des was a perfect host - let us all get on with it but helped with queries and keeping everything in order. All in all- a brilliant venue for a big knees up with good friends and their family - perfect!

We held my nieces Birthday party and family get together here in early Dec. 2011 and it was very impressive,the en suite rooms and halls really lovely. A Tiny criticism tho' we could have been better equipped with cooking facilities and not large industrial cookers, in kitchen.l believe this has been addressed.The grounds are lovely and the entrance quite a walking distance from main road. I think it is a great Venue for Family re-unions, Weddings and all special occasions, and parties.Thanks for sending me my Mobile Phone which l left behind.
