Beautiful place to stay in a beautiful area. Great beaches nearby and they are practically deserted. The road down to KareKare is steep, narrow and bendy so caution is advised.We found everything we needed for a great holiday at the Tree House.
For grocery shopping I would recommend Countdown in New Lynn. Great fish counter there.
We didn't even notice the lack of TV as it was just so easy to relax and let time go by. -

My wife and I have stayed at the Karekare tree house twice now (also known fondly as "Honey Moon & Milky Way"). We will soon be taking another North Island vacation this February and are delighted to have our little girl joining us for our third stay. Both of our previous stays have been some of the most memorable time we have spent in all of NZ. It is refreshing to see just how satisfying and perfect a vacation rental can be without going over the top. If you appreciate having a place that is truly connected to its natural surroundings, then this is the place for you. The architectural design is clean, innovative, with a very novel use of space. Two separate structures with walls that open and a connecting deck allows for a wonderful open air environment. The other reviewer's comments are spot on - everything you need is here. Read the owner's description for other details about the area. If you are considering Piha, I would reconsider, as it is just a short drive away. Karekare beach is the real place to be, choose it and you will be glad that you did! If I could purchase this property, I would!

My partner and I spent a few most beautiful days in KareKare beach treehouse in april 2012. From the moment we booked the place to the second we left the house, everything was flawless and enjoyable. When we arrived in KareKare and saw the house, we knew our holiday would be unforgettable. The house is designed for a perfect and romantic escape! As my partner is an architect, you can imagine his admiration for interesting and unique design of the house! The kitchen place is functional yet beautiful and the creative way to design a bathroom (I will let other visitors discover what I am talking about!). We used the balcony for a morning coffee and afternoon tea and just had the most amazing stay. I wholeheartedly recommend this place for holiday with your family or just an escape alone if you need some time for reflection.
