Description from the owner
The two bedroom/one bathroom “Kaleido House” is the largest unit in the Zilker Vacations family. It features by far the most original art and colorful decor to go along with the spacious tall wood beamed ceilings. It has a 200 gallon soaking tub with dual shower heads in the cedar lined bathroom*. We've have a King in the master and two twin XL beds in the second bedroom that can also be made up as a king! There is a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room as well. So you've got options for sleeping arrangements! Enjoy looking at our large oak tree in the front yard from the wall of windows inside or out on the front covered deck.

Austin, TXExcellent relaxing stay
Left on 04/23/2013 for a stay in March 2013
I originally chose Kaleido House because of its great proximity to Zilker Park, but was very pleasantly surprised at how nice everything was and the great location for other venues too.
I came with my 2 kids, 2 and 8, and they had a ball with the large tub. They had to "swim" every afternoon. The location was great for the grandparents to take the kids to the park everyday.
The house is very clean and bright. We relaxed every night on the front patio. The neighborhood is really quiet. The kitchen and bathroom were small but adequate for cooking and getting everything done. We had 5 persons staying in the unit one night and it was still very comfortable.
The location had quick access to downtown, SoCo, Mopac, so getting to things was easy. It is also just minutes from several grocery stores. The owners did a great job on communication even when there was a small hiccup in the booking dates. They responded quickly and made sure that I was taken care of. Thanks for the great stay!! -

Westlake Village, CAGreat trip to austin with kids

If you want to get a taste of the "real austin", this is a great spot. Tucked up the hill from Barton Springs road, the Kaleido House offers a clean comfortable stay with easy access to some of my favorite austin landmarks: Barton Springs Pool, Zilker Park, Shady Grove, and the Town Lake running trail. This is a no brainer in terms of value, location and convenience when traveling with or without kids.

Murphysboro, ILConvenient to downtown
Left on 03/04/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Found this property to be very convenient to downtown. Bus stop not far if you prefer to travel by public transportation. Very clean. Fairly spacious living/dining and master bedroom areas. King size bed in master was very comfortable for us. Owners go out of their way to make provisions for your stay. Provided us a pack-n-play for grandbaby's stays. Additionally you will find an assortment of grocery supplies, including spices, foil, etc. that really help. Very difficult/expensive to stock a pantry for a short stay. We also appreciated the touch-pad entry. No fumbling for keys all week. Good experience.

Baton Rouge, LALoved all the little details!
Left on 02/28/2013 for a stay in February 2013
Our stay at the Kaleido house exceeded our expectations. The view of the beautiful live oak from the kitchen table window and the front deck was awesome. I was so pleasantly surprised to find so many little items that made our stay more comfortable - like make-up wipes in the bathroom, assorted tea bags and individual coffee creamers and beach towels to bring to Barton Springs (even thought it was too cold to swim during our February stay!). I look forward to staying at the Kaleido house again or maybe even on of the other Zilker Vacation properties.

This house is amazing! We stayed 9 days and had a wonderful time. The house was fully stocked; just bring groceries! The owners couldn't have been more helpful. No comparison at all to a hotel stay. Zilker Vacations is the way to go for a stay in austin. We definitely will be back. Thank you so very much Peach, Jay and Cynthia.

My stay at the Kaleido House was wonderful. The accommodations left nothing lacking. We were in austin for my son's wedding, and the entire family loved the place. Some of them are making plans to stay in the future. Great place to visit.

Left on 09/25/2012 for a stay in September 2012
We had the best time in austin and a large part was due to the awesome people and property at Zilker Vacations/ The Kaleido House. Not only is this house so cute but they think of everything for you. (Shampoo, spices, outdoor towels and more.) We were traveling with 2 little ones and what a blessing to have a pack n play, cot and booster seat provided for us. The best part is the property is location super close to everything. 5 mins one way and you are outdoor playing, hiking and swimming. 5 mins the other way and you are downtown and ready to have fun in the city. We will not stay any where else. Actually already planning to come back in 3 months.

washington dcSpacious and great location
Left on 08/19/2012 for a stay in August 2012
The property was really spacious and well maintained. Tons of towels, linens, etc, fully equipped kitchen. Best aspect was the location, though...right near the running trails, easy access to nearly every part of the city, only two miles from the world's best Whole Foods. And easy convenient parking. I will plan to stay on my next visit.

I can't say enough wonderful things about this place and the area it is in. We love the tree lined street, the fact that we are a short walk from Barton Springs Pool, and several restaurants, shopping, etc.
Jay and Cynthia went out of their way with extra touches. They provided a binder full of info about the area (and even included coupons, maps, and menus), there were coffee beans and a grinder (best coffee ever), games, dvds, fresh water in the fridge...you name it.
The Kaleido house is so colorful you can't help but to be happy here. We extended our stay because we loved it so much.
My 9 year old daughter used that spa tub every night. It was the perfect mom/daughter vacation.
This is my new favorite little weekend getaway spot. We will be back next summer! I hesitate to say too much because I am afraid if the word gets out much more that I won't be able to find availability next time. :)

Prompt and friendly service. Kaleido House very cozy, well stocked kitchen, clean throughout. Very close to the greatest swimming hole in the world. B.Springs of course. One really big problem though...visit too short. We love this place, hope to come back again soon.

It is located perfectly for Zilker Park, SoCo and only 5 minutes away from downtown.

Left on 04/27/2012 for a stay in April 2012
My wife and I along with two young children (1 & 4 yrs) enjoyed staying at the Kaleido House for one week during our vacation in austin. Everything went very smoothly with the reservation and we were happy to have an accommodation that provided everything as promised on their web page. Ample toiletries, towels, complete kitchen gear, highchairs was appreciated. The house was in good shape and the large tub made it easy to bathe both kids at once. The neighborhood is quiet and centrally located. The location made our stay in austin very enjoyable as there are a lot of restaurants and coffee shops nearby on Congress and S. 1st and the closeness to Zilker was great for visits to the playground and pool with the kids.
Overall we felt very at home here.Response from Zilker Vacations - 04/27/2012

Howdy Chris,
Very happy you had an enjoyable stay at The Kaleido House and that you got to get a feel for the neighborhood, and take advantage of Zilker Park and all the fun things to do south of the river.
We'd love to have you back in, anytime. We wish you safe travels in the future.
Cheers,

Left on 02/04/2012 for a stay in January 2012
Quiet neighborhood but minutes to everything. Zilker park almost next door, easy access to Whole Foods on 5th and Lamar, plenty of space and all amenities. Would definitely stay here again if in the area. Hosts are easy to work with and attentive but not intrusive. Barton Springs restaurant row 2 miles or less away. Shady Grove and Green Mesquite very good places to eat first night in town. Hill Country wineries 1-2 hours drive, nice day trip from Kaleido House.

This is a nice place. Some considerations: 1 bathroom, no tv's in bedrooms.
Response from Zilker Vacations - 12/06/2011
Owner
Glad you thought the Kaleido House was a nice place to stay, even though it only has one bath and no TV's in the bedrooms. We have put a TV in the master bedroom in the past for a guest who requested it and will consider placing one in there permanently. I hope you realize that we didn't advertise a TV anywhere but in the Living room. Thanks for the feedback!

The overall experience was awesome!!! Everything was ready to go and the house was clean and very nice. The only thing was there was some cobwebs along the ceiling and the hot tub/dual shower was hard to work and we ended up using just one shower head the whole weekend.
Response from Zilker Vacations - 11/03/2011
Owner
Thanks for letting us know about the spider webs- it's hard for our cleaners to see them in the vaulted wood ceilings- we will be sure and let them know about it. As far as the hot tub/ dual shower heads, we will trouble shoot it and be sure there is no problem. We may need to post instructions on how to use it in the bathroom, as the directions for the hot tub are in the House Guidelines on the wall over the bar and on the 2nd water heater in the closet in the master bedroom. We would have been happy to come over and show you how to use it if you had called us.
Glad your overall experience was positve! -

Seattle, WAGreat location, responsive, friendly hosts
Left on 10/31/2011 for a stay in October 2011
Whether you're traveling with friends or family, the Kaleidohouse is a solid option when spending more than just a night or two in austin. The proprietors of the property are very responsive, friendly and fair, and though we had few requests of them, their responsiveness to all our questions and concerns leads me to believe that they'd accomodate just about any request guests might have. The location is certainly to die for -- right by Zilker Park, within walking distance of the abundant food trucks on South Congress and South 1st, a stone's throw from downtown, etc. The price might be slightly on the high side, but definitely not unreasonable. Great times during our stay there!

Our experience at the Kaleido house was magnificent. The biggest perks were reasonable pricing, great location, comfort, and service. We were a total of six and had plenty of room to be nothing but comfortable. Barton springs is a 2 minute drive from the driveway. Downtown is around the corner. The unit included plush sofas, very comfortable beds with clean sheets and towels. Above all, Cynthia was professional and more than accomodating every step of the way.
