Only 30 seconds walk from the best beach on Rarotonga, over the road from the supermarket and on the main bus route.
"Budget Accommodation" - but extremely good value at only $490/wk for up to 2 people.
PLEASE NOTE-- The "Shack" has not got direct beach access, unless by arrangement with Absolute Beachfront Villa guests at the time. So far this has never been a problem.

Opposite Wigmores excellent supermarket with own grown vegetables,on the bus route in the south of the island and only one property from the beach who permit access normally, the Shack is the economic solution for visiting Raratonga. We also found Tony Heays helpful and efficient. He made useful suggestions for restaurants and things to do.

The service was great. You can enjoy the convenience of airport pick up if you need to. There was everything you needed in the accommodation. Home away from home. Wig mores store is a walk across the road, it has pretty much everything you need. Beach is also very close. The cost was great if you are holidaying on a tight budget. After all you usually on need to use the bathroom and bed most of the time because you spend your time enjoying Rarotonga.

The purpose for our trip was to attend a Whanau Wedding, the location couldn't have been any better, 30 steps from the front door to Wigmores Shop (that had anything and everything we needed). I travelled with my six year old and she loved the adventure. Bus Stop located at the shop, cafe just over the fence (only thing was we didn't read the small print and request access to the beach via the private home at the back, not to worry we walked 30m toward town and there was public access) - the place is very basic, but very clean and we only needed it to sleep there at night. We used the shuttle recommended by Tony and received amazing service by our driver to and from the airport, they also arranged other activities that were appropriate for the six year old who had a fabulous time... Only negative was when the cafe over the hedge decided to throw there glass bottles into the bottle bin at 6.00am in the morning... Only thing missing was access to a landline phone, it meant that whanau had to drive to see us to arrange whanau outings, a landline would have made it much easier...

My partner and I have just returned from Rarotonga, and staying at the shack was one of the best decisions we made. Initially it was the price that attracted us and my expectations were not very high. However the location of the shack is awesome. With Wigmores store right opposite us, a lovely massage place next door and two great restaraunts within walking distance, we never had to go far to get what we needed. The beach was very close and absolutely beautiful. One of the best snorkelling spots! Only a couple of Km's to lovely Muri beach and a nice drive to avarua. The Shack is fantastic value- clean, tidy and has everything you need. We will be back :)

I highly recommend The Shack for a relaxed and chilled out stay...The Shack has everthing you need and more...Lovely white sandy beach and beautiful coral fish to swim with.. The best area for swimming on the Island.A supermarket across the road, that has the biggest ice creams i have ever seen and everthing you need for your stay..Also a local bus service next to the shop, which we never used.. We hired a car and went around the Island 15 1/2 times in 10 days... It was hard to leave The Shack! We only had a week in the shack, then moved to one of the big hotels down the road... But most of all the hospitality of the owener Sharon made us feel very welcomed.. Sharon and her friend Nadi were great helping and giving advice on our wedding as we eloped in the Cook Islands... Thank you sharon and Nadi for making our dream holiday so special... It wouldn't of been the same without you's..
Tony the manager came around to check if we need anything and to see how we are enjoying our holiday.. "How nice"...
Everything you need is "the shack" Very clean, great location, beautiful beach, shops, restaurants, bus service at your door, value for your money is a understatement, so cheap to stay..Comfortable and private.. What else do you need..
We will definately be back...Response from Tony Heays - 07/19/2012

The Shack, is just that. A converted garage at the back of the garden, close to the road and the supermarket. To access the beach you needed to walk through the garden of the villa but it was never a problem and we made friends with the guests there. The Shack is an open plan structure with limited cooking facilities, but for the price and position it was great. We stayed there for 3 weeks, Tony the manager and Sharon the owner was always on hand if anything cropped up. We had a brilliant time. the bus stops right outside and the main town is only 30mins away. over the road is the supermarket, a take away and next door is a internet place with a cafe next door to that..the food there is brill. there are a few restaurants about so eating out was always possible. We would definately recommend this to anyone who does not want luxury and is happy with quirky. The only downside was the fact that mosquitoes could get into the room fairly easily, but Sharon put a net up over the bed for me after I got lots of bites. An oven would have been useful, but it gave me a good excuse not to do much cooking..after all I was on holiday:)

I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at "The Shack". Given the price I had some hesitations about what I was actually going to get but it was very clean and had enough utensils in the kitchen to make most meals.
The place is essentially a garage that's been converted into a bachelor apartment. It's meters from the beach and right across the street from a store where you can grab food/supplies and also catch the local bus. The owners were helpful and made arrangements for me to get the key even though I was arriving in the middle of the night.
Overall, a great place at an unbeatable price. -

The property is a small "shack" on a back section. The overhang makes a pleasant veranda. By opening the two big doors you create a good indoor-outdoor flow. For the two of us it had what we needed to have a pleasant and relaxed holiday. The help and advise of the owner and manager are very appreciated.

we really love this place! comfortable private and right opposite big store with everything you could want. Simple basic studio but with everything you want including washing machine. In the best area for swimming. The main attraction was the price and we could walk past the villa in front to the beach. one whole wall opens up so plenty of breeze. Fan included.there were 2 small gekos who liked to come in at night and were a bit cheeky but didn't bother us. Nice outdoor area. Will definately return!
