      A Lovely Little Treasure

Left on 10/18/2012 for a stay in September 2012

Tucked away in a corner of Old avignon, this apartment lies just inside the medieval walls of the city. It is located just far enough away from the bustle of the town to avoid the noise yet close enough to walk to restaurants, markets and the lovely and impressive sights of the city.

The apartment is well equipped and appointed. We used it as our home while in Provence, cooking breakfasts and dinners. It is a short drive to Chateauneuf-du-Pape, Arles, Nimes and many other lovely Provencal locations.

Aida is a wealth of helpful information about places to go, things to do. We (4 american adults) thoroughly enjoyed our stay there.

      Charming apartment in avignon

Left on 08/12/2012 for a stay in June 2012

We traveled to avignon in June and used it as a base to travel through Provence. Aida's apartment was conveniently located, clean, and comfortable. The kitchen was supplied with everything necessary. We were four adults (2 couples) and found the apartment met our needs very well. The bathroom and shower were of good size and modern. The wireless internet worked very well. Most of the sights of avignon are within walking distance of the apartment. We did rent a car to travel through Provence and most evenings had very little difficulty finding a parking space close to the apartment. Aida is a charming woman, who was available to assist us in any way we needed. Thank you!

A convenient and comfortable town rental

Left on 08/02/2012 for a stay in May 2012

We stayed in the self-contained apartment in Le Clos du Remparts for a week at the beginning of May on our first visit to avignon.

The 2 bedroom apartment is on the second floor of the building and has an excellent Wi-Fi connection. The beds are really comfortable – so much so we had trouble getting up in the morning!

Shops are around a 5 minute walk from Le Clos du Remparts, so a stroll to the excellent boulangerie near the Place de Carmes to pick up croissants or cakes is no hardship.

The excellent Les Halles market is about a 10 minute walk away and is also well worth a visit to stock up on the high quality local produce.

Mme assad is a pleasant and gracious proprietrix who is very keen to help holiday makers have the most enjoyable and positive visit to avignon.

She supplied us with guidebooks, maps and suggestions of places to visit and dine, making phone calls on our behalf to book on to a tour of nearby attractions, to organise a laundry collection and another one to secure a booking in the highly rated local restaurant La Fourchette for our last day in avignon.

We would recommend this apartment for anyone wishing self-catering accommodation in the town, but it is worth noting that it is reached by steep stairs which could be a problem for some people.

      Bed bugs are here!!!

Left on 07/06/2012 for a stay in May 2012

Bed bugs are here. For your own health and safety, please stay somewhere else. This was our worst stay and we will be afraid to book another apartment again given our horrible experience. The apartment was infested with bed bugs and they bit many times every night and leave scars. This was dangerous to my health as a breast cancer survivor as I am not to have any bites on my surgery arm. I had ten bites on my arm, others on body and others on my face where the bed bugs had crawled during the night. When I told the owner this and showed her the many bites all over my body, she insisted that the bug bites were from mosquitoes. After we found dead bed bugs and gave them to her, she refused to exterminate saying it was too expensive for her. She was very rude and said that we brought them with us. She kept saying that there are no bed bugs in southern France even though the local pharmacist had told me there were bed bugs bites. Although we had to prepay for the apartment, we left two days early and given the last minute had to stay at an expensive hotel as the bugs were so bad. This caused us much anxiety. We lost a lot of money and valuable vacation time. We had the worst vacation stay ever as we are so nervous about infesting our home with these when we return and the need to pay close to $1,000 to exterminate them from our home. We do not want you to have the terrible problems that we did. We reported her to the local authorities and they took our complaint seriously.

      Terrific Stay in avignon

Left on 05/14/2012 for a stay in April 2012

Le Clos du Rempart can accomodate parties of 1, 2, 4, 6 or 8 through its apartment and B&B; rooms, and makes for a perfect base for your trip to southern Rhone and Provence. Madame assad was so welcoming and easily accommodated our last-minute schedule change (luckily!). The location is literally next to the medieval walls; an easy walk to night life and papal palace, and also to the free parking lot outside of the walls. Our party of 4 was based at Le Clos du Rempart for 5 days, taking day trips out to the wine region and other sites in the area. Terrific stay in avignon!

A wonderfully comfortable stay helped by a warm & friendly host.

Left on 08/15/2011 for a stay in July 2011

We are an australian couple who had never before visited France. We had prebooked Le Clos du Rempart on the internet and it was our first experience at a stay in a French B&B; and inside the walls of a walled city. We certainly weren't disappointed! From the moment we arrived, Aida made us feel extremely welcome and comfortable. She had a wonderful ability to be there and available for all that we needed but she also gave us privacy and our space. We stayed in the Saphir Room and it had all that we needed including a lovely view out of the window over the B&B;'s beautiful private courtyard where we enjoyed a delightful breakfast each morning. The bed was extremely comfortable and the ensuite very nice. We would stay there again without hesitation and would highly recommend it to anyone interested in a stay in avignon.

      Superbe!

Left on 06/05/2011 for a stay in March 2011

Le Clos du Rempart is a well-located holiday rental in avignon, France. Madame assad is a warm and friendly owner/manager who lives in the building. She is friendly and helpful without being obtrusive; for example, she helped us with the internet booking of several tours and also TGV tickets, saving us a lot of euros as well as time struggling with our broken French. Aida's English is beautiful.
The apartment is well appointed, the cleaning service very good and the furnishings quite comfortable. The courtyrad in Spring is available to lounge in with a good book.
We enjoyed shopping at a local Saturday market as well as the excellent Les Halles for those surprises you miss in restaurants. The closest boulangerie was too good — the Parisian croissants and bread could never reach the avignon standard.
I can't speak too highly of this charming hostess and her beautiful accommodation.

      Superb

Left on 04/08/2011 for a stay in March 2011

We booked for a month at clos du remparts in avignon from mid-March to mid-April. Clos du remaprt is one of the best of several apartments we have rented in Europe. It is within easy walking distance of the old city, especially close to Les Halles.
Madame assad is a warm hearted and charming owner/manager of this excellent self-catering apartment. Cleaning and change of linen are weekly and indisputably well-done. The apartment is spacious, comfortable and well-furnished.
We have access to a separate reading room and a beautiful garden.
Madame assad willingly helps us with tour bookings, ticketing and transport where needed. Her advice on tours, restaurants and local attractions (as well as markets in other places) is first rate.
Both of us agree that we will miss clos du rempart when we leave. Our memories will be of a most superb place to stay ina delightful old city of Europe.

We stayed in the apartment for one week and it was lovely. Very clean and pleasant in a friendly residential area of avignon. Aida is lovely and welcomed us with plenty of information and warmth and left us alone to enjoy the rest of our holiday. Lovely garden also a boon if you want to relax at home after a day of sight seeing.

Left on 02/13/2010 for a stay in January 2010

Spacious, spotlessly clean, well-equipped 2-bedroom apartment added greatly to the enjoyment of our stay in lovely Avignon. All rooms of a good size including bathroom, and all tastefully decorated. Beds very comfortable. Suitable for 4 adults. Located a short, flat walk into the centre of town, also near an exit from the old wall which made it quick to walk to the Rhone River. Apartment on second-storey in a very quiet residential street with the essential blue shutters! Aida friendly and very helpful with local advice without being intrusive. Would definitely stay there again.

      Wonderful Home Away From Home

Left on 11/30/2009 for a stay in November 2009

The Le Clos du Rempart apartment is a wonderful home away from home.
It is conveniently located just inside the wall. It is near all the major Avignon attractions, but not in the middle of the noisy tourist area.
This apartment is very spacious and yet so cozy. The furniture was comfortable and the furnishings charming. It was very clean and all the appliances and services worked, like internet access for 3 laptops.
Aida our landlady was very nice and extremely accommodating. I would definitely stay at the Le Clos du Rempart again.

      Lovely Avignon apartment

Left on 11/21/2009 for a stay in November 2009

Our party of three adults rented this 2 bedroom apartment during the first two weeks of November. It is located just inside the Avignon walls which location allowed us to easily walk to all the sights in Avignon. The owner, Aida Assad, was genuinely warm and exceedingly helpful. She not only greeted us with a bottle of wine but offered suggestions for meals (excellent) and places to see in the surrounding area. She even called the restaurant to secure our reservation. The apartment itself was spotless and quite roomy; the beds were very comfortable, and the bathroom large with a wonderful shower. The fully equipped kitchen allowed us to shop at the local open market, Les Halles, and prepare some fun meals. Ms. Assad has decorated the apartment in warm colors that reflect the Avignon setting and there are many artistic touches throughout the rooms. We enjoyed staying in an old Avignon building in an exceeedinly charming apartment with very modern appliances and comfortable furniture. The only thing we missed was a washer and dryer. We would not hesitate to stay there again and hope to do so in the future.
