virginiaGreat views, cute town, tired house
Left on 10/02/2012 for a stay in September 2012
As we drove down to avon, we noted all of the villages on the way. When we arrived, we were immediately impressed by both the walk/bike-ability of avon and by the wider variety of dining and activites it seemed to offer in comparison to the other towns of equivalent size. We had a great dinner at Ketch 55, found a fantastic seafood supplier, had great beach days. What we didn't have was a great place to return home to after all of those experiences. The house is not only out of date--which can have a certain charm--it is very run down and falling to pieces. From the broken bathroom shower catch, to the falling off the hinges kitchen cabinets, to the threadbare furniture, to the additional tenant (bugs, roaches, even a snakeskin hanging out of a loose outside siding board) this place need either some serious attention or a serious price drop. When the houses all around are offering amenities like, oh, I don't know, cleanliness, 4 times the space, pools, etc at a price that is only 50% higher in the off-season, it seems like this place needs to begin to measure up.
